Aw man, that's terrible. It sucks when things die like that. I hope you have more luck with roleplays in the future.

@Devilfern: That must of sucked. :( My role plays are always good. I guess I am just lucky like that. :D!
Hm... Anybody base their role play characters on real life people and such?

Hmm...I don't know anyone in real life that I've based my characters off of. My vampire, Siegfried, is based loosely on a few fictional characters  Lucius Malfoy, Sherlock Holmes...mostly just inclinations in my head, though. I take pieces from my favorite book or movie characters and smush them together, really

Lucy - that's the code for putting the banner in your signature. Just replace the fancy brackets with square-y shaped ones
Mariann, I think you can put the code up on the first post, and then everyone can get one! :D

Yeah, I'll add it, Fernie =P Thanks XD My characters aren't based off people, just off whatever I want...For whatever reason, I don't like basing characters off people. I will admit that with my autistic character, her habits are a combination of most of the autistic children I've worked with, but her personality, likes and dislikes, etc. are entirely her own.

Oh. I guess I am truly addicted then. (>O0O<)! I think I might get my friend addicted to role playing one day. I told him of the joys of role playing and his eyes light up. ^_^;

Interesting thread here. :)
In a way I've been roleplaying for nearly my entire life, I've been pretending to be someone else for as long as I remember ever since kindergarten. I started online roleplaying on Xanga around five years ago, where I played as Touzokuou Bakura for a few years. I still have the account, but am no longer active. Then there were another couple of years spent on MySpace, where I was Kadaj, Sephiroth, Genesis, and several others, but mainly Kadaj. Now I'm on Mene, I occasionally join in on RPs that interest me, though I haven't been actively roleplaying anymore in a while. Technically this account is a roleplay; I'm not my usual ':squee:' self when I'm on here as I am on my other account. :)
Most of my OCs are the insane type. I have trouble roleplaying people who are not crazy, it seems.

My characters are normally based somewhat from my own personality.
But not to very much of an extent.
It's just easier for me to relate to them and get into character if there's that similarity. (:

Sefirosu - I can relate to the experience of pretending to be someone else. I used to insert myself into television shows as a little kid, or my characters. It was fun...but it was funner with another person :)

Does anyone else sometimes feel like all their characters have the same basic personality? :XD Most of my male characters - or at least the ones I use the most - are haughty, disdainful, incredibly stylish, and sarcastic. I think it's harder to describe my girls (I don't find them as interesting, for some reason  ), but they tend to be smart, cool and collected. I think there's a theme here

My characters are soo widely varied I think I'm schizophrenic sometimes. x_X

Harmonious - schizophrenia has nothing to do with multiple personalities. People with schizophrenia suffer paranoia, occasionally fixate on things, can become disorganised or scatterbrained, and suffer auditory and/or visual hallucinations. I don't know how the myth that multiple personalities are it's defining feature got started, but I'm pretty tired of it.

Actually I wonder where that does come from...I always just thought "multiple personality disorder" was the one with multiple personalities :XD
My characters might all be the same because of the kind of stories I like. Sherlock Holmes and NCIS? I think I like the guys who act like pseudo-detectives.

Ahahahaha, how strange of you Fernie! Who would have thought multiple personality disorder (or dissociative personality disorder, as it's now called) was actually named after what it describes!
I can understand liking a certain personality type, though. My characters tend to be friendly, at least after a certain point.

@Sefirosu: Welcome to RPA. :D My OCs are just unique in general. Lizzy is one of a kind. She is my multi-use character. I use her for almost every RP known to man kind. I have some crazy characters but meh.
@Devilfern: Nope, not really. I mean my characters personalities vary. lol Lizzy personality is a bit Bi-polar at times. You never know if she'll be happy or sad. Oh well I guess it happens. I think my characters would all need help in some way or another. XD! Especially uh... the one I just made up for this role play I am role playing with my longest running role playing partner. :D!

Oh no, don't worry. English is a hard language, and the fact that English-speakers also pretend schizophrenia is something it isn't can't make it much easier.

It's more the mistake I'm anoyed with than the people who make it. I have no idea how it even got started, and it's a bit annoying correcting people all the time when they should know better.

- Tries to bring post count back up -
I know what you mean.
I get annoyed when people talk to me slowly/loudly because I'm Asian an they assume I don't speak English.
But at least I'll know not to make that mistake in future. ^^

They actually do that? Talking to you slowly? o_O
The ones I've met don't assume...they outright mock at you by going, "Hey, you speak chin chang chong?"
Me: ...Wtf.
But most of them are pretty nice, it's only occasionally that I run into one of those idiots.
