i suppose if we keep talking about her, the chances of her showing up while we're talking about her will increase.

oh she has mentioned that she has just started that show and that she loves it! it's always nice to have a show that you and a friend can watch together to chat about!

---------- Post added 06-07-2012 at 02:04 AM ----------

gah! i didn't answer your question! it's set back in the 1800's in an industrial cotton mill area in the northern part of the united kingdom... a woman from the south (a much more relaxed place by nature) moves to the north with her father, a former clergy man, and her mother... obviously it's a romance lol but it's so much more than that... you see the suffering of the people and it's just really good!

I know. it's actually a first for us. I started rewatching it so we could kinda watch it together.

hm, sounds like it could be good.

that's really nice :) i have date nights every sunday night to watch the next top chef with someone so i know what you mean  although, you guys can watch more than one episode a week! :P

i think the thing i like most about it, is how subtle things were as far as liking someone, yet they were so upfront about it... like certain things give away that one might fancy you but then if you suspect they like you they just chock up the nerves and say so! i love it! i wish i was more like that  i guess to feel so much for a person sounds pretty nice since i haven't had much of that sort of thing myself.... and i suppose that is what makes me rewatch it, for i live vicariously through the characters

yes, we can watch about 5 episodes a day! XD I'm trying to catch up since she's about 7 episodes ahead of me right now.
I had been planning to rewatch for some time though. I never saw the last season on tv.

ah. its the romance that gets ya.

hehehe you are a bit behind, but you have seen it before so you can still chat about it

and yes, i think you are right about the romance bit... although i don't like to admit that sort of thing often  but it's just a really good story... it's somewhat similar to pride and prejudice and it's about the same time too... speaking of which, i have been meaning to reread that... you ever read it?

yeah. very true. I intend to catch up. I think I'm watching them quicker than her.

I have read it. I liked the book more than almost anything I've had to read for school. pretty good.

I really loved North and South. PBS is one of my absolutely favourite television stations when it comes to the remakes of all those period pieces--which I already love to death. I was watching Mansfield Park earlier, then switched to the new Sherlock Holmes series on PBS.

What did you think of John at first? Of Ms. Hale? I still think she has a wild ignorance about her, and she was kind of...I don't know the word for it, spellbound by John all of a sudden. I've never read the book(s), but I'm sure they're somewhere on my list.

kat, i had started and restarted 'pride and prejudice' more times than i dare try to count  but i finally made it through and was so happy i had! i do like it more than the movies too!

@jupiter: i haven't read the book, but i read in reviews that it is really very similar. my first impression of john was that he was quite pompous and mean, but even before the first episode (the first hour) is over i had changed my mind completely! i rather like him a lot and his story is also intriguing and it explains why he is the way he is and why he is so close to his mother, which i thought that relationship was a little... sheltered? maybe that's the word, like mrs. thornton was far too protective and involved, but this second time around i see that is not entirely the case and i like her more than before. as far as margaret goes, wild ignorance is the perfect word for it! she spouts a lot about how the things being done are unjust only to have the real picture shown to her, yet she still makes these accusations and let's out her opinions. when she first saw john, standing at the top of that building area with all the cotton puffs floating around like clouds she was totally spellbound and then he beat up that guy and it was ruined for him  i like john far more than margaret but they do make a quite perfect match!

I only saw part of the movie, linn. Parts of the book were hard to read, but I ended up writing down a lot of quotes from it, so it must have been good.
