The year is 2451, and the terrans have at last reached faster than light travel through Quantum Shift technology ( the ability to pull two points in space and time together allowing the ship to pass through). Doing so is very dangerous as the area becomes an unstable black hole at best. Any "jumps" are done outside of any solar system so as to not destroy any habited and uninhabited worlds.
Many new worlds have been discovered, but none with any living civilizations. Several planets were discovered that once had life, but they were quiet tombs now. Colonies were set up on these "dead" planets for mining, scientific endeavors and human habitation. The colonies flourished and interstellar trade routes expanded every year, until the discovery of alien lifeforms. One was warlike, harsh and cruel to the extreme. Their alien ships loaded with warriors began to raid the human settlements and colony worlds alike. These beings became known as the Keldon, lizard like creatures with immense strength and durability.
