Hi, I'm new to Menewsha and trying to get to know the community. So I was wondering if there were people here who share some of my interests, like Blythe dolls.
I currently have two Blythes (Sparrow/Heart of Montemartre and Pandora/Natasha Moore) and wish to have more... many more. I would also like to have a custom done sometime. Do you have a Blythe or several? Which one(s)?Are you a customizer? What are your dream dolls? Who was your first doll? Do you have/like Ball Jointed dolls also?

Oh I love BJDs. :) Not so keen on Blythes, I generally prefer the super expensive resin BJDs like Latidoll etc., but I like Pullips too.
I haven't got any BJDs myself yet (although I do have a teeny Pullip given me by a lovely friend), I'm kind of looking around for a small sized one that might catch my eye to save for. :D
Edit: Oh, and welcome to Menewsha, by the way! ;)

I have never liked dolls, I guess they are part of the whole girly thing which I hate.

Huffie: I just recently saw the My Melody Pullip in person and fell in love. Before that I didn't really like BJDs.
Beetle: I find the scary factor part of the Blythe charm. :)
Bella: Yeah, it's girly...

I LOVE Blythe Dolls!
I only have one myself, though. I have "Casual Affair", but I call her Dorothy. I love buying clothes for her on Etsy and dressing her up.

I like Blythe dolls, but I adore ABJDs. :D I only have one BJD (Arnorr Rosarius/ DZ Ian.)
He is a lovely elf that I love to dress up and make jewelry for. Sewing is still in the works, though. People always mistake him for a girl. ;_;

I want to sew for my Blythes, but so far I haven't created much I consider a success. It's hard to sew those tiny things with a machine and I'm not that great with hand sewing.

My hand sewing is not so great, either, but I am working hard at changing that. I am extremely happy, though, that I just got my very own sewing machine.
Even if the projects turn out... Sub-par (as mine normally do when hand-sewing,) you still have that gratifying feeling that you accomplished something. Arnorr is currently wearing a failed sewing project but it still looks quite lovely when you don't look at the stiitching. XD
Anyways, back on subject! My doll is a bit easier to work with than a Blythe since he is larger. (70cm) What are you dressing yours up in?

Sorry, joke  I wouldn't say that BJD doll are girly (But barbie girls, THOSE are girly! XD) mostly because BJD isn't just dolls. They are work of art too. And art isn't girly. Painting a beautiful girl or boy isn't girly, and sewing can be quite manly too.
Well, on to the topic!
I have 3 bjd dolls, but what's the different between Blythe and other dolls? Aren't they all bjd's :O ?

Blythes and Pullips are in a slightly different category I think, since they haven't got proper ball joints and they're not made of resin. :) And wow, three? That must've been expensive!

Ohh, yes, I've seen a couple Sanrio-type Pullips. :D They are certainly adorable! I'd quite like the Hello Kitty one, myself.

I think mostly in the case of BJDs you have to buy them online from the actual company who makes them. :) And there are A LOT of companies. :XD Prices can vary from company to company and the price also depends on the size you want. There's a really big range from veeeery small ones at about 9cm to super big 90cm ones, there are also limited editions etc. etc. so it could be anything between £70 and £700.
For Blythes and Pullips I believe their repsective websites have buying info on them:

Vompire: I agree with what you said about the BJDs being artful. I think they are definately works of art and not nearly as girly as Blythe dolls. I really enjoy the custom Blythes because people are turning what is mass-produced into art.
AlbaRosaria: There are tons of Blythe clothing being manufactured and also being made and sold on Etsy and private websites. They do also wear relatively the same size as Barbie because they are "playscale" size (12:1), but their heads are waaaay bigger. The Barbie stuff doesn't fit super great though because the Blythe body is more normal girl shaped and Barbie has big boobs, a tiny waist and freakishly long legs. It's no big loss though because most Barbie clothes are cheap and tacky anyway (no offense meant to any Barbie lovers out there). :) BTW- Arnorr is beautiful.
Beetle: Blythe are currently being made by the Takara/Tomy company in Japan and are not sold in the US. You have to buy them online an it can be a pain in the neck. Quite a few are sold on Ebay, but most collectors hate Ebay and try to buy them in other ways. A good place to buy Blythe and Blythe goods is through the This is Blythe Website. There is a shop that sells mainly clothing, and some dolls, but there is a forum you can join and use the marketplace there to Buy/Sell/Trade. As for the price, well, they are pricey. It all depends on what doll, what condition and when you buy. The good news is that most dolls maintain their value even out of the box.

I think certain Blythe dolls are cute, but they're not really my thing. xD
I'm into other sorts of BJDs.
I currently have a (headless) DBdoll 1/3rd size boy and am saving up to buy a Zaoll Luv from Dollmore's site. Going to see if the Zaoll Luv head will work well on the DBDoll body. If not, I get to save up for an entirely different boy doll body and get my DBDoll body a Dollmore Model (boy) head. xD; The Zaoll Luv body will be getting a Leekeworld Wein head.

Random nice picture of my DBDoll body. (Click to view full size. >_>; ) I ordered the outfit from the lady who acts as representative for the Chinese company, but mostly intend to sew my own clothes for my dolls. :)

Yes. xD Rather expensive. Not so bad if you're willing to make sacrifices in your spending habits and/or save up over time, though.

Yeah i see that. D; Wow, one doll for $170, oh but they are just so cute!! Saving up over time sounds like a good plan, sort of like a reward. I would love to customise but I would wreck the poor things.

I did not know Blythe clothing was that complicated but can fully understand it. Like I said, 70cm is probably easier to sew for than the smaller dolls like the Blythe. XP
Oh, thank you about me doll. ^^

I love Ball Jointed Dolls... The problem is that they are very expensive to have a collection of, and I must say that when I look at other people's collections I am really impressed. So far I only have one from Japan that I bought when I went over there. (Yes, it was really awesome! >_<) Its an h. Naoto themed doll, and she has pretty, long blue hair. If you don't know what h. Naoto is, it's a part of the gothic-lolita-punk designer brands.
It would be really awesome to know how to customize it and things, and would be even more cool if I knew how to design my own clothing for it. -__- Sadly, no.
So, I sometimes like to look around on Deviantart because there is a ton of people who take photos of their pretty dolls~

Caboose: I bet your dolly is lovely!!! I dream of going to Japan to buy adorable things... squeeeee!
Is this the one?
She really is lovely. I'm very jealous. As I mentioned, in the past I really didn't care for BJDs, but I saw a few Pullips in person and, wow, love at first site. Now I'm obsessing over pictures of Pullips, too. It's amazing how photogenic all of these dolls are and it's too bad I take horrible photos. I keep trying, when I have the time. My girls love to have their pictures taken. ;)

Out of curiosity I looked up the Blythe dolls. Wow! So adorable!!
Personally I have none haha
I do own a few Bratz that were kinda gothy looking. Thats my thing. I like odd or unique dolls. BeGoths, Living Dead Dolls, and the Delilah Noir collection from Ashton Drake. But I def like some of these Blythe dolls!
