This is my first RP and I'm hoping it becomes successful, but if not...I guess I'll keep trying!
alright, first of all, I don't really have a specific plot that needs to be followed( it seems too controling...) the story is what you make it so.. go nuts!
PM me to join! I dont like it when random people start posting if they don't intend on staying.
Second, the rules [yes, there are rules, stop pouting]
1.) No god-modding, this is really annoying, and nobody likes it so just DON'T!
2.) Keep in mind that everyone is unique and this means that everyone has flaws, I don't want to see those perky, uber-perfect characters. they make the story boring. like, gouge-your-eyes-out-with-a-spoon boring (and nobody wants that because nobody wants to clean it up...)
3.)There will be a limit to how many vampires will be allowed. I know this sucks, but I've found that where there is one, there are hundreds because everyone wants to be a vampire....so basically I'm on a first-come-first-serve basis for this
4.) it is very important that you follow the general posting rules for Mene.. unlike mine, these rules do not change.
5.) What I say goes! When it comes to my RP, I am the all powerful god of your universe and will not hesitate to suspend your profile indefinitely if you tick me off...
6.)No one sentence posts... these are extremely hard to go off of and make it difficult for the other people. Also, make sure you have a way to distinguish your character posts from your ooc's.. (so nobody gets confused)
7.) no excessive cussing or profanity (this ticks me off) Romance is allowed, as long as you don't take it too far or are Excessively descriptive about it.
8.) Make sure to ask permission before controlling another person's characters! I'm sure this ticks them off as well as me.
9.) no chat-speak ( that stuff makes me want to hurl) nobody can understand you, so nobody will listen to you...
10.) Don't give me any reasons to have to add rules, I'm sure this will make people very angry at you...
you don't have to do a character bio, but if you want to, it should look like this: (PM this to me if you do one)
Name:
Age:
Race: ( human or otherwise, all races are accepted)
Description: (basic physical description, pictures will be allowed for this section [ anime-style please])
personality: (this is self-explanatory)
bio: (basic background information on your character, history, etc.)
other: (anything else about your character that you think i should know)
Other than that... HAVE FUN!

Accepted Characters
Name: Adriana Morena
Nickname: Addy
Age: 18
Race: Human
Description: Adriana
Personality: She's generally kind by nature, but has a problem with excessive use of sarcasm. She doesn't have many friends, basically because people think she's weird. She likes to draw, and is considered a talented artist by her teachers.( this, however, gets her in trouble)
Bio: She's half hispanic on her father's side and Romanian on her mother's, she obviously took after her mother. She has a strange ability to bring her artwork to life when she concentrates, the likes of which hasn't been seen in her family for generations.
Other: She has a cat named Echo, that just showed up some time after she discovered her power.
Quote:
Name: Kithai Koori
Nickname: Kit
Age: 84
Race: Dark elf (Drow)
Description: link Except with full pants and no OMG!cleavage.
Personality: Kithai is usually good natured and kindly, for all she is a drow. She likes cute things, but her favorite things are black and white like pandas, vanilla ice cream, and dice. Yes she has an affinity for dice. Haha
However, Kithai also has a dark side. Sometimes her drow instincts get the better of her. When this happens, she is argumentative and is easily provoked into anger or even into attacking occasionally.
Bio: Kithai was taken from the Underdark by a compassionate family member when she was very young (about 5 or 6). She does not remember much, but by the time she left, drow instincts had already been ingrained in her. She knows how to see in the infrared spectrum, levitate, and summon spheres of darkness(they're not damage inflicting. They merely cause the area they affect to go pitch black). She also was taught a fair bit of fencing by both her Underdark family and the family member who brought her to the surface. She is proficient with a one-and-a-half hand sword but can also wield one and two handed swords if needed. However, her main weapon is a double bladed spear. She learned mostly staff work in the Underdark and later in her life, found a mentor. Her family mentor also taught her a bit about nature(such as how to survive off the land), but not to the extent that she knows every plant and animal she comes across.
Other: The family member that brought Kithai to the surface never told her their name and disappeared when she was only 8. She does not remember them very well (she can't even remember if they were male or female), but she retains the knowledge she was taught about nature and weaponry.

Quote:
Name:Alex Kiliko
Age:321 (bit at 119[looked19], has aged to about 23 in looks)
Race: Elven-Vampire
Description: Alex
Personality: Always curious, always wanting to learn, and often gets in trouble for the pursuit of knowledge. Loves to play games, blackjack in particular.
Bio: Alex grew up being an Elf. He became fascinated with magic and began to learn. Of course, he soon found that he was delving too deep into spells and was soon exiled from his silent clan of night elves. Although he was drow, he now considers himself a normal close to a normal human, for his skin has become human-like in tone, and his ears have become much less pointy. Of course, he knows this is because of a spell he use from a spelbook he managed to smuggle away with him when he was exiled. Alex now heads towards some of the humans city's hoping to make a name for himself among the humans, and possibly learn more about magic.
Other: Is naturally silent while moving, and has memorized many of the spells in his book. he even know a of few of them well enough to not have to speak the name of the spell, and simply think it instead. Has some bow and sword training, but is a bit weak due to his lack of exercise while pouring over books. has a natural weakness for vanilla brownies.

((I'm going to start with a modern-magical place. Please let me know if you have something else in mind. I have no problem with changing my post.))
Kithai sat on the small hill to watch the sunrise. For all the light burned her eyes, she never missed one and loved watching the colors of the sky change from dark blues and purples, to reds and oranges, to the sky blue of day.
Over the hour or so it took for the sun to rise, she thought about what she'd do that day. She'd camped near a human city, and wondered what sort of people dwell there. Perhaps there were business centers; there was more than a few sky scrapers and she knew they could not all be hotels. Perhaps there were merchants; many cities had merchants that permanently lived there for convenience. Very few merchants actually traveled. Perhaps there was a magical institute; she knew many cities had at least one sorcerer for protection. Perhaps there was all of the above.
The female drow sighed as the sun rose well beyond the horizon. It was time to continue her travels. She stood and brushed the dirt off her backside before walking towards the city.

"Adriana Belen Morena! Get your hind quarters down here, acum! You have school!"
Addy rolled over, tired and crabby from the horrible night's sleep she'd gotten. When she heard her mother's voice, she instantly became irritated, she hated when her mother treated her like a twelve year-old, and used Romanian to get her to do things on top of that. she also hated having to constantly argue that her romanian lessons were at grandma's house, not school, and therefore there was no need for her to get up at sunrise on a saturday, especially not during the summer.
She rolled, literally, out of bed and walked into her bathroom. Echo was sitting on the bathroom counter, licking water droplets from the faucett. He 'mew'd a few times at Addy before jumping off of the counter and heading to the window sill, where the sun was beginning to warm the wood.
"deget mic imp." she said, practicing for her lessons with Granny, and wondering if she'd said it right. "Little toe imp, huh? Wonder why it's 'toe imp'."
She ran some water and brushed her teeth, thinking of phrases she would have to remember at granny's house, she spoke the language well enough, but her mom insisted she keep going to Granny for 'advanced' lessons. She was pretty sure she spoke more romanian than her now, but that was just a guess.
There was a knock at the door,"It's open." she called. Her father, Diego, poked his head in the door.
"mija, are you ready to go yet? Your mother, she is about to explode."

Once Kithai reached the gates of the city, she paused to ponder its mysteries once more. As she'd gotten closer, she could see there were several business buildings as well as three large hotels among the more common houses and shops. She wondered what could possibly attract so many people to an out-of-the way city. She supposed it must have been it's close proximity to the mountains and the ocean.
She strode through the gates and continued toward one of the hotels. She hoped there would be an inn on the way; she preferred their small coziness. As she walked, she looked at the houses that she passed and admired their simple but gorgeous architecture. One in particular caught her eye and she paused to gaze at it.

Addy had gotten dressed and was on her way out the door as quickly as she possibly could, to avoid causing her mother's ultimate meltdown. She had just thrown on some jeans and a t-shirt, her hair was somewhat messy, and her socks didn't match. She wasn't worried about that, though, Granny wasn't one to dwell on appearances, and it's not like anyone else's opinion mattered anyway.
Taking a bite out of the bagel she had grabbed from the bread-box, she turned to lock the door behind her. With all those "talented" people running around, a lock wasn't going to do much, but it made her mom feel better. As she headed out for the sidewalk again, she saw a girl. Not just any girl though, an elf girl. she looked like a traveler, a fighter possibly, too, judging from the way she stood, and walked with a kind of confidence. Her eyes were glued to the building a few doors down, an old-fashioned inn that belonged to a man by the name of Finneus Broody. It was a spectacular place, beautifully built.
"I'm sure granny won't mind me being late." she thought to herself as she began up the street in the wrong direction.
She walked up to the girl and stood there admiring the building alongside her, until deciding to announce herself," You must be new to the city. Most residents don't stand this long in front of Mr. Broody's Inn, well, except me."

Kithai looked at the girl who'd just spoken to her. She was plainly dressed, but was still quite pretty. Kithai noticed the deep blue eyes the girl had and wondered if it had to do with magic. Such a color was not common among humans. Kithai gave her a friendly smile. "An Inn, huh?" She gazed at the building again, still smiling. "I can understand why you'd stare at it," she commented. "It's beautiful. And I was just hoping for an inn." She turned to the girl again to thank her for the information.
"And you are quite right," she said. "I am new to the city. Just arrived a few minutes ago, actually. So what do residents usually do here?" She queried.

"well," she began," all-in-all this city is pretty boring, but you'd only think that if you didn't pay attention. There are things all over this city that the humans can't see, beautiful architectures and magnificent creatures. Even the building you were looking at was just a glamour spell. If you didn't have the ability to see past that, you'd just see a shabby, brick appartment that was abandoned and boarded up years ago."
She thought for a moment,"And the residents? It depends on which one's you're talking about. The humans are like bees, they wander around doing their little jobs, then wake up the next morning and do it all again, but the others, they really run the show. It's like the Humans are marionettes, they think that they are independent, but there's really someone else in the shadows that's pulling the strings. It's the others that have the real fun, secret places, like this Inn, hold huge banquets and parties..." she trailed off," or if you prefer, there are some exclusive clubs, and things like that, where the only thing that matters is your ability to see."

((I really don't mean to be rude, but is the thread done? Because if it is, you might want to change the "under construction" to "open." ^^; ))
So there are spells that hide this beautiful architecture, Kithai thought. That explains why most residents don't look at Mr. Broody's Inn. I suppose that the non-human residents are the reason why this city has so many large establishments. Kithai pondered what the girl was saying, "What matters is what I can see" hmm...? I've never been in a city with such a high concentration of magic. I wonder what level my abilities are.
Kithai stared at the girl while she thought, seemingly in a sort of shock. "You speak as though you weren't human yourself," she pointed out. "Are you perhaps one of the non-human residents?"

"Well, I am human by blood, but I've always been taught that the only real humans are those who cannot control magic. In which case, I am a 'non-human.'"
Addy felt around for a pen, and found a small one in the left, back pocket of her jeans. "Watch," she said, while drawing a sun on the palm of her hand. She concentrated on the drawing, and her tongue began to poke out the side of her mouth. The Sun grew a small amount in size, turned yellow, and became solid. It floated in the air between the two girls for a moment, then Addy licked her thumb and smudged it out of existence,"Pretty cool, huh?"

Kithai smiled. "Ah, I see."
Then the girl began to do magic and Kithai grinned wider. "Very cool," she agreed. "And impressive. I've never been able to do magic beyond that which my kind is born with."
Kithai suddenly had a thought. "I never introduced myself, did I? My apologies." She stuck her right hand out. "My name is Kithai Koori. I am honored to meet you," she said with a simle.

Alex sat on simple bench, pouring over his book. The sunlight was making his skin tingle, but that was all. The elven blood in him kept the sun from truly hurting his vampire side. Alex closed to book and stretched, sunlight showing his dark green eyes with small specks of black and yellow. "What a sunny day... Mornings are always so sunny... Not good for reading..." He got up and started to walk, nearing Mr. Broodys inn, his cloak flapping in the strong in wind that had suddenly picked up. A few passerby's gave him awkward glances for his strange clothing.

"I'm terribly sorry, but I have to go, My grandmother is likely to kill me, or at the least I'll be severely injured emotionally. Good-bye!" Addy gave Kithai a quick wave and began to race off up the street. She dodged around pedestrians and vaulted over dogs, but one quick glance at her watch was all it took. She crashed into something, a hard something, and bounced backwards, her backside hitting the cold concrete. "I'm sorry!" she yelped, at impact after realizing that what she hit was a someone. She looked up, the sun blinded her a bit, but she could barely make out the outline of a person, a man to be exact. He was dressed strangely, but what Addy had noticed was the person himself, there was something about him.Something that made Addy curious...

He had gotten good at scanning people quickly over the past 300years. She seemed young, her blue eyes gleaming, making her clothes seem even better, besides the simplicity.

"Oh!" Kithai muttered, when the girl abruptly left while saying something about her grandmother. Addy, hmm? That's a nice name, she thought.
She watched as Addy raced down the long street dodging pedestrians and dogs all the while until she crashed into someone. Kithai gasped and hurried to the scene. She liked her well enough and hated seeing anyone get hurt.
"Are you alright?" she asked Addy. Then the man Addy had crashed into offered his hand to the girl on the ground. Kithai stared at him for a second. He had strange clothing and although he appeared human at a first glance, there was something... off about him. Somehow it seemed as though he was older than her, and she didn't know very many humans who could claim such a thing, and none were as young as he. "And you're alright, sir?" she asked kindly.

"yowch." Addy mumbled, rubbing her backside after the man was kind enough to help her up, Alex huh? she thought. Then she burst into the scene between Him and Kithai,"Don't just stand there, shake his hand!" she then covered her mouth, and looked between the two, making sure she hadn't done something to embarass herself. Her eyes darted between the two, and then to the man's luggage, a large, dusty volume was tucked behind one of his hands, she couldn't read the title, probably in another language, she thought and then, holy crud! another language! Granny's going to murder me, and Mom ,too, when she finds out I haven't gone a block from our house.
"I'm so sorry!" she said,"I really have to go, my mortality is at stake!" Then she attempted to race off again." I guess I'll see you guys later!" She didn't know if it was true, it was just an instinctual thing for her to say."It was nice meeting you!" she waved a hand behind her, and the pair got farther and farther away.

((Sorry! I only get a few hours of computer time in the middle of the day, and then a couple hours at night when I get home. ;-; ))
Kithai snapped out of her reverie as the strange man began to walk away. Then she realized what he'd said. "Ah! Sorry, Alex! I'm Kithai Koori!" she called after him.
She sighed. What to do now? she wondered. I suppose I could rent a room at that inn Addy told me about.
With that, she walked back the way she had come and knocked on the door to the inn. For a couple minutes, nothing happened. When she knocked again, however, the door opened and she walked inside.
Wow, she thought. It's even prettier on the inside! The main room was an oval and had a staircase on either side of the front door leading to a balcony that led to some other room. The doorway beneath the balcony led to the check-in counter. Above was a glorious crystal chandelier lit by candles and hanging beneath a sky and cloud covered ceiling. The walls on the first floor were tiled with a beautiful caramel colored stone, and the floors were similarly done. The second floor walls were painted a glamorous gold that was an accent color in the tile on the first floor. The railings and wall and ceiling trimming were both a soothing chocolate brown as were the two wicker chairs that sat in the alcoves of the staircases.
Kithai stared at it's splendor before slowly wandering towards the check-in counter. A young lady, who had long, straight, black hair and dark brown eyes, stood at the counter and asked if Kithai needed assistance. Kithai smiled at her and asked if any rooms were available and how much they cost.
The young lady smiled in reply and told Kithai, yes, there were available rooms, and they would be 20 silver pieces a night for a member of the club, and 30 for non-members. Kithai handed over enough money for three nights without a membership. The young lady handed her a room key and told her the room would be on the second floor and down the hall on the right. Kithai nodded and turned back around to head up the stairs.
When she got to her room, she gaped at it's beauty. ((I don't want to bore you with descriptions though, so I'll just continue and offer a picture. Sans the view of course. XD)) Kithai plopped down on the bed and before even realizing how tired she was, promptly fell asleep.
((The lobby I'm describing is the Brock Plaza Hotel lobby which is somewhere near Niagra Falls. I think. >_> Here's a link to the picture I used to help me describe it. :3
As for money, would you be fine with it if we just had this -->?100 coppers = 1 silver, 100 silvers = 1 gold, and in terms of US dollars, 1 copper = a penny, so 1 silver = a dollar
Is that too complex for an rp? >_>
Also, the door didn't open by itself. There was an unseen butler. Kithai was too distracted by the room to notice. lol
Aww, bye for now then, zrac.))

(reply soon, just thinking.... met someone today.)
(im good with the money.)
Alex drifted dow n the street ata quick pace. he barly heard the reply from Kithai. Alex smiled. [i] Got a name,... all i need...[i/] He thought as he arrived at the back of the hotel. He quickly maneuvered on top of the building, jumping from wall to wall. No one saw him do this though, due to a spell he had uttered on the way there. Alex placed his hands on a wall just inside the building, and the wall moved aside, showing a dark room filled with shelves and shelves of books. The walls inside the room were a dark cherry-stained oak wood, and all the furniture was a lighter shade of the same. The carpet was thick and black, squishing between his toes. Alex had taken his shoes off moments ago, so he could remember where the door was. Like i ever forget... Alex shuffled over to the third stack, putting the book he had been holding back onto the shelf. It wasn't his spellbook, but it was his book nonetheless. It detailed some strange underworld gangs. Alex grabbed his spell book off his desk, and quickly flipped to the page that had a dream spell written on it. Yes... a name... all i needed... he thought, as he began to say the first words to the spell.

Addy arrived at her granny's house with no time to spare, she threw the door open and hurried inside, exhausted and disheveled. Her granny was sitting in her parlour, sipping a cup of her favorite tea with tangerine. The smell of the tea filled the room and veiled the house in a scent that seemed to cause contentment.
"Wonderful of you to join me, Adriana." Granny said.
"I'm sorry granny, I met a traveler today, a Drow named Kithai, and I got sidetracked, then there was that strange man..Alex, something seemed off about him and..." she trailed off, knowing now by her silence that Granny had no intention of punishing her, no matter what her story was. This is why Addy loved her granny.
She smiled, then looked down to the tea table and saw two books. She grabbed the one that was most familiar to her, the book Granny had taught her from, and began to flip through the pages to the chapter that they had left off at on their last visit. Addy began to read aloud to Granny in her target language, but Granny stood, clasped her hands around Addy's and closed the book.
"We won't be needing this one," Granny said, and then she picked up the other volume, an old, decrepid thing with a leather cover and gold lettering along the spine, "We'll be learning from this book today." She handed the volume to Addy.
Addy read the cover,"român a vorbi un cuvînt literă cu literă... Romanian Spells?" she looked to her grandmother, confusion apparent on her face.
"It's time I told you about your powers, Adriana. It's time you knew about the Lonesco family." Addy was surprised to hear her grandmother's maiden name, a thing she didn't often hear since she was married to her grandfather, surnamed Lupei, and kept his name long after he had passed away.
Addy listened, and Granny weaved a story that tied their family back to ancient times, where a gypsy, the Lonesco's first mother, had given her magic to an artist she had fallen in love with, he then used the magic to make his art come alive. When the gypsy and the artist had children, they could also use this power, but they were not disciplined, and brought forth things that should never walk the earth. The children were victims of a witch-hunt. They were nearly wiped out, but the survivors cast a spell on themselves so that only one child, every two generations would have the power. "I am one of these children, Adriana, just like you. The same magic runs through your veins and mine, allowing us to see those wonderful things that others cannot, and create life from the tip of a pen." Granny paused for a moment before saying,"Today, you learn how to be a Lonesco."

Kithai opened her eyes, but she wasn't in the hotel room. She frowned. There were dark walls - were they stone? - and the floor was cold. Hadn't she gone to sleep on a bed? She gazed around the dark room, her infrared vision adjusting slowly. She frowned at that too; though she hadn't used the ability in a while, it was an innate drow trait that wasn't easily lost even through disuse. When her vision had finally adjusted, she saw the room clearly in hues of blues and greens. Clearly where ever she was, was cold and made of stone. There was a bookshelf there on the wall, but there were no books. It appeared there was a window, but there was no light, only a pitch black hole. No scenery outside. She hesitantly got up and tried to touch the spot, but her hand went right through the hole and disappeared. She gasped and pulled her hand back and it reappeared.
It must be a darkness globe, she thought. But that means there's another drow somewhere near. Still frowning, she turned to look at the rest of the room and gasped. There was someone else in the room with her! Their red, yellow and green/blue form sat on the floor, propped against the wall. She approached them slowly until she was close enough to see the details of their face. "Addy!" she gasped. She touched the human girl's arm, but nothing happened. Suddenly, the room went pitch black and Kithai lost consiousness.
Kithai sat up in her bed with a gasp. She winced as the bright light of the room hit her sensitive eyes. She quickly switched from infrared to regular vision and looked around the room. "It was only a dream," she murmured. "Only a dream.." She sighed with relief and went to the window that overlooked the hills on the outside of the city. She frowned again. It seemed so real, she thought. Perhaps a premonition? I hope not. To rid herself of such thoughts, she unstrapped her spear from her back and began to practice with it.
((If having a dream is not what you wanted to happen, zrac, let me know when you come back and you can just continue with the spell. Then I'll just consider this post as what it sort of is; a weird dream. lol))

(yes this works out fine.. but was supposed to be nice dream... o well, i don't intend your character to find out anyways^^)
Alex fell backwards, The power from the spell ending so abruptly knocking him over. He gasped for breath. "DAMMIT!" He said aloud as he slowly stood up. His knees were weak. That didn't quite turn out as planned...It should have been a nicer dream... Oh well... She seems to have a fear for protection of the other girl... Addy i think she said... Damm.. Need a last name for her... Alex thought so himself, quite rapidly. He wobbled over to his couch and flipped through the book once again, finding nothing on revealing names. Uhg... This is going to take some time... Best change before i go out... No need for ritual clothes now... Alex quickly changed out of his black and gold trimmed robes, removing the cloak as well. He switched his sandals for black boots and then put on jeans and a plain Tee about some band called Alice in Chains. He put on a few bracers, and a black hat, covering his forehead mark. Alex placed his hands on the door, making the wall move again. He almost fell over, stunned by the brightness of the sun, which was setting and in the perfect position to blind him. How log was she asleep?!... Well... He quickly hurried off the roof, uttering the spell that would make him invisible to most eyes as he jumped off the roof. Alex landed in a small bank of fog, a pre-placed spot that completely stopped the impact of hitting the ground. Alex had lost some of his jumping prowess over time, but not much. He was one of the best jumpers in the tribe before he was banished.
(it felt like an abrupt stop, but iz running out of IM AWAKE! juices. lol)
(finished editing.. now its preeety and gramiaticly correct! yay! ^,,^)
(making my character put pants on makes me miss the pants that i dont have... lol.)

{[Holy crow! I'm freezing! and the snow keeps comin' right on down...lol]}
Addy was sitting cross-legged on the rug in Granny's parlour, the book was opened in her lap, and she was pouring over all the different spells her family had used (the book had been in the family for hundreds of years). Granny had told her that once Addy's mother had realized that she had inherited the Lonesco power, she started sending Addy to romanian classes, not to become a succesful linguist, but so she could understand the spells written in this book. Granny had left a few items on the tea table for her to practice with: pens, books, paper, candles, and some other things that Addy had no idea as to what they were. She was sitting patiently on the sofa, waiting to answer any of Addy's questions, and to observe her powers at work for the first time, being used as more than entertainment that is.
"Don't just sit there, Dearie, pick a spell." Granny urged.
"I don't even know where to begin!" Addy said back.
"Then start at the beginning, it can only help to learn what you already know. We have all the time in the world to go over this book." Granny smiled, and the edges of her eyes crinkled.
"Alright..." Addy mumbled, taking hold of one of the pens and a sheet of paper. She began to draw random lines, but eventually the lines intersected and merged together to create the image of a dragon. It looked proud and powerful with it's scaly chest puffed out and its feathered wings pulled back.
Addy finished and showed the drawing to Granny, who nodded in approval."Now breathe life into him..." She whispered. Addy took a deep breath and concentrated on the drawing until he began to peel up from the paper and become solid. What resulted was nothing more than a lifeless figurine. "You have much to learn," Granny said, and for a moment, Addy looked disheartened, like she had disappoined her. "Don't worry, Child, even the greatest Lonesco's started out like you."
This made Addy smile, and she started to draw again, determined to be successful in her first official Lonesco lesson.
