I believe it is allowed to have a fresh meat thread if you return after a looong hiatus.

That's not true Syraannabelle, those who have been away a while are allowed to create a welcome back thread in Fresh Meat. However.. usually they're more than 'Hi' which is true enough.

Syraannabelle: She is not the first to return from a long absence that I have seen without trouble making a welcome thread. I suppose as long as a returning member has been away long enough it actually makes sense because a ton of new people will have joined and they'll will become less known.

Although one worded posts are spammy, that's not really liked here. So her TRUE offense is that she should have said more.
