I've been attempting to write this story for a while, about a Japanese rock band.. I have it worked out in my head. It's a three book series actually... though I haven't even finished the first book... the basis is that it starts with this character Masao, you are reading the book as if you are him, witnessing his thoughts of people and the world around him. I keep coming across this block though, on how to make the story progress to where I want it to be. I feel i've taken a wrong turn somewhere so I was hoping maybe someone here might be able to help me.
So far, the main character is ditching out on school to meet up with his friend who is about to convince him to try out for the band he's gotten together... I can post more of the story if people need it to help me out here, so they see where it's going, but if anyone wants to toss around some ideas on how to break my writers block or where to send the story i'd really love it! I've been staring at these two pages of writing for over a week now and i'm really thinking I should trash it, but starting all over would be really disappointing as well...
^^; Any help... anyone? :headdesk:

breaking writer's block is not an easy task, sometimes you just need to admit defeat and put your pencil down for a little while until something inspires you again. if your as impatient as i am that probably wont happen lol so i would suggest looking up some writing exercises and trying to get the juices flowing again.

Thank you for your reply. I am very impatient, as I have all of these ideas as to where I want the story to go and how I want it to develop and where to bring characters in and how to make them interesting, but it's like having two ends of a ribbon and missing the middle, I can't tie a beautiful bow without something to link the two ends together... that is the most frustraiting thing! I will definantly look for those writing excercises, are there any particular ones you recomend?

i find the best exercise for writers block is "freewriting" it's also very simple. just find somewhere quiet and write everything you think of. set a timer for like 15 minutes and don't stop writing until the timer beeps, it doesn't matter what you write just as long as your pen is moving. it's a good way to force yourself to write something, even if it makes no sense, then look over what you've written and see if anything sparks your imagination.
they have threads that talk about other exercises to so you should look at those ones

I think I will try that, it sounds like something that could work for me. Might help me gather up all my thoughts into one basket and sort them out to create that middle piece thats missing for me. (btw i checked out your deviantart, love the earrings =P ) If that doesn't work, i'll go take a gander at some other ideas. =3 Thank you for your help.

I'm going to move this over to the discussion section of this forum, as it's more appropriate there. The main lit spot forum is used mainly for short stories. :)
