I don't have anything against other people enjoying them, but I have zero interest in reading them myself, although I suppose I could still be convinced.

There is something about re-writes in general that really rubs me the wrong way, I think mainly because I am a writer also. Obviously, I'm not worried about my own work, but something about changing someone else's work is inherently violating to me, unless permission has been granted. It seems unfair to Austen simply because she has no say in it whatsoever.

Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter! That's the name of the new one. There's also a prequel for Pride and Prejudice and Zombies called Pride and Prejudice and Zombies: Dawn of the Dreadfuls. I haven't read either the original or new for any of them so I can't really compare them. I just find the idea behind them entertaining.

I guess I feel that because P & P is such a venerable book, and is ensconced in our consciousness, that it can take these funny reworkings. They are no threat to it's integrity.

I guess what the issue really is is that I'm still insecure about my own work, and therefore quite protective of it, and I'm projecting that onto an unrelated situation. :P
