((Thanx. I miss him. He sent me an email at like 1 this morning.... He told me he was ok, but.... I don't know. He says he may be gone for a few more days then originally planned. ~sigh~ By the way. Hideo's 'Sight' level is determind by when he can see the cat.))
I smiled. "I did it right. Tell me when you start to see something. Ok?" I send the comand to "Fuzzy", 'Slowly reveal yourself on the physical plane.'
Very slowly, the fluffy white kitten appeared. And she was sitting on the table, with her tail on Hideo's plate.......

((Well, good luck with him.))
I blink, then shrug, and after a moment of chewing I go to set my food back on my plate. As I set it down, I notice the cat slowly appearing with it's tail on my plate. "Gah!" I grab my plate, and pull it close to my chest, protecting my meal. "There's a cat their." I point at it, then remember I'm supposed to give details. "A White cat, with..." I lean a little closer, "Blue eyes." I lean back, smiling. "And it looks really fluffy."

((Sure. Do you have any questions for me? I always have an answer.))
I grin. "Good Job. Next time though, don't say something like that too loud, ok? Otherwise the 'tweenie popper' and the Manager will hear ya." I watch him looking at the cat, "Her name is Fuzzy, by the way. She's a Familiar. A Familiar is a creature that we create out of Spirit energy, to aid us against Demons." He has just above Medium level Sight. "Have you ever seen a ghost before?" Even people with very poor Sight have seen a ghost. "And if you have, how many?" Might as whell find out how strong he was before he 'grew up'.
I felt something, so I look around. I know that I was quiet. I always am when I'm in a public place. But I couldn't get over the sence of being watched....
As my gaze turns to the window, I see a skeleton grinning at me. I know this guy. You'd think that he's a 'evil' Demon, because of what he is. Being a Demon and all. But he's actually quite helpful. He's on 'our' side. He believes that if he's good and all, God'll let him return to Heaven. I know that the Pastor of his church has even seen him, and not freaked. And I also noticed that the sun was back out again. Which was good.
Heading towards the counter, I call over my shoulder, "Don't worry. I'll pay for it. It's on me. Why don't you grab your sandwich and wait outside, we'll take a walk." I get dirty looks from everyone in the dinner. Especially the waitress. 'He's not my type sweetie! Ofcourse he's most likely not yours either!' I know I was talking louder then I should've, when I called out to Hideo, but I had to warn Joe to hide himself. He needed to know, so that we don't have an issue in the middle of town...........

I nod. "Yeah, I've seen them before. As a boy, I'd always sort of seen them occasionally, but people told me there was no such thing, so I just blocked them out, but I've been noticing them a lot more now-a-days." I looked out the window, where she was looking, and it took everything I had to stop myself from jumping out of my chair. I quickly looked around the dinner to see if anyone else had noticed, then stood up and headed out, finishing my soda in one long, last chug, then stopped to make sure I grabbed the last half of my sandwich, and the pickle they had put on my plate. I left the fries, as they wouldn't be easy to carry, and I didn't really need them anyway.
Outside, I looked over at the skeleton warily, wondering if he had noticed me, or even cared.

He had left before I made it to the counter! 'Oh man! this ain't good! Joe!'
I through down the money and yelled "Keep the change!" at the manager. And headed out the door.
"It's alright. This is Joe. He's an ally of sorts. He is what we don't hunt. He's a 'good' Demon.
"The Old man wants to talk to you again, Mastress. Are you going to go see him again?" Joe asked.
"Hmmn. Not right now. I have bussiness to take care of." I put my right hand on Hideo's shoulder in a comrodery type way. "I'm training a newbie!" I grin at him.
"Alright. But you know he gets cranky when you don't see him when he calls for you." Joe ofcourse was worried for me. I was the reason that he was still on earth in the first place. So he could "repent" for sins he never committed. So he could go to Heaven. I was the one that took over his last summoner's contract, when the summoner died. And if I died without passing on the contract, whell, I just don't like to think like that. Even after all this time, I'm still an Optimist.
"Ok. Go tell him I'll see him tomorrow ok?"
Joe left. And I was alone with Hideo. "So. Any questions?".........

I nodded as she came out, and looked over Joe as she explained what he was. While they talked, I ate my pickle and listened. They finished up as I finished my pickle slice, and I looked at her with a slight frown. "A few. First off, I didn't know there were 'good' demons. Second, who's the 'Old Man', and third, you're actually going to train me?" I was hopeful about the last question. Learning from someone who had done this her whole life seemed like a great way to pick up everything I needed.

I raised an eyebrow at the last question. "Of course I'm going to train you. Remember, there is nothing more dangerous then an untrained Hunter. When you cant control your powers, you can be more dangerous then even the most manelovent of Demons." The I stoped to think over the answers to the next two qustions.
"Yes. There are good Demons. They are very hard to find. They're ones that follow some form of peaceful religion or other. But you have to be careful. Sometimes you can come across one that tells ya their good, but they're far from it."
The last question. How was I going to answer this one. "The Old man, is someone that you don't need to be worrying about just yet. Ok?" That's good enough. He's harder to explain then the consept of good Demons. I sigh. "Ok. Let's walk. I'll answer some more of your questions." Or atleast try.......

I nod, smiling. "Thank you. I'm ready to learn whatever I can. I guess the first question I have is what exactly is our job? You know, the job of a Demon Hunter? Do we just go around fighting demons, or are we supposed to help the spirits we encounter, or something else, or even a combination of those?" I tried to slow my chatter down, but my excitement was getting the better of me. I had so many questions to ask.

((So how've you been lately?))
Tough. Of course it's the first question that we have answered for us when we all start out, be it from infacy or, like Hideo who's just unlocked his powers. I guess I'll just have to give him the same answer that my mom and dad gave me.
I take a deep breath. This is a long explaination. I put myself into an upright, stance as we walked down the road. I put on my best teaching and knowledgeable voice.
"Our job as Demon Hunters is to hunt down and 'destroy' demons, with the exception of the rare few good ones. It is our job to make sure that the Demons do not hurt the average mortal and or non-hunter magick user, which includes but is not limited to, wiches, pagans, and shamens. We do however, take out anyone that summons demons to do harm to the Earth and her people. If a Spirit needs our help, we help it. We can also be hired by mortals to get rid of poltergiests and Demons. Sometimes we can act as Mediums if we've specialized in that, to help people contact their lost loved ones, but that is only done if the person that wants to make contact, cant find a witch that specializes in their area. Its all of that and then some. The rest is hard to explain, and is easier to just pick up as you go."
There. Verbatem of the speech I got when I was eight. And again, when I was thirteen. And was told every other time after that, when I would question the way things worked. So many times.
I fought back the tears that were trying to surface again. I cant cry. Mom and Dad are gone and there is nothing that I can do. Crying isnt' going to help.
This could be good for me, though. Having a 'Clan' again. And teaching. Maybe it might help me remember what I was good at, instead of what I didn't do...
And if not... Whell. Then maybe I was never ment to be a Hunter, after all.........

I nod while listening to her explanation. As I watched her, I thought I saw tears form in her eyes, and I quickly looked away from her, out of respect. It was not my place to dig into her personal problems, and while it might never be, someday it might, and I did not want to ruin any trust we might be growing by prying. "I see. So, um, how do we usually find work? Is there somewhere where we go, or do we just show up in town, poke around, and take down any demons we find?" He had done basically that since he got to the states.

He's attentive. That's good. Really good. Ok. Work.... I haven't done that in so long... And Mom and Dad were always incharge of that. Ok.
"For work we do the latter. We look around and find the demons. Sometimes people know what we are and they will hire us. But other then that we're on our own." That was all I remembered. I had only been on a couple of trips when my parents would go looking for customers. So I cant recall much.
"Alright. I have a question for you. Why did you even bother talking to me in the first place? I mean I coulda just been a Sensitive, or witch."

((Oops, missed your question in the last post :XD I'm doing good, you?))
I nodded. "I see. Well, it's good to know I've been doing it right. That's sort of what I've just done this whole time." I looked over at her, then blushed and looked away, rubbing the back of my head, embarrassed. "Well, honestly, until I talked to you, I didn't even know there were such people. I just figured anyone I met who would be able to see spirits was a Hunter, or at least knew something about them." He looked off, down the street, embarrassed by his own lack of knowledge in the matter.

I let out a loud laugh. 'Hey that felt good.' I continue to laugh. Ok. I think I should explain that befor he gets upset.
"I'm not laughing at you. Not really. It's just that, whell, I'm not used to knowing about a Hunter who didn't know what is 'Basic knowledge'. It was just so shocking that I was caught off guard.."
What was I doing? Opening up to this guy. There was a reason that I was dress like this. That I looked like I could kick any guy from here to the next universe and make sure that he couldn't come back.
I cant loose anyone else....

I looked away, even more embarresed when she started laughing, but then looked back at her with a sheepish smile. "Sorry. The only Hunter I knew died before he could really explain to much to me." I looked around, thinking about how my mother had reacted when I had told her what I had learned about father's death. I looked back at her quickly. "You said you've been doing this all your life, right? Do you have family that does this too?"

((I forgot to reply to your question :P. I'm good today. I keep geting side-tracked by this though .... :feesh: . It looks like pac-man gone crazy... lol))
I stopped dead in my tracks... "I don't want to talk about it" I look away. Why did he have to open those wounds. 'It's not like he knows.' I hear Legs say in my mind. 'He's new. All the Hunters around here know. Thats why, they don't come to you. Because you're an infant to them. You gave it up because of your family's death.'
'And it doesn't matter that I'm back in the game now, either. They think I'm only back to kill that one Demon.' I answered her back.
'Isss it rrreally imposssile forrr yu to continue to ee a Hunter afterwardsss?' Another of my mindguardians, Fire, asks me in his hard Gryphon tounge.
'I will stay on til Hideo knows what to do. I will stay in contact with him to teach him, unless a problem arises that makes it hard for me to be near him.' I made the oath to my mindguardians in my magick tounge.
I looked back at Hideo, then glanced at my watch. "It's time to eat. Want to head back to the diner?" I would keep this vow. Even if I have to come back from the dead to do it.....

I stopped, looking confused. 'Must be a touchy subject.' "Oh, sorry." I looked around, then nodded. "Food would be great, but can we go somewhere else? I'd rather not have that waitress hit on me again." He looked down the street. "Anywhere else to eat in this town?"

"You seriously don't know what a 'Road apple' is?" I looked at him. 'Yeppers. He doesn't know.' I stopped laughing long enogh to explain. Though I couldn't keep myself from smiling, which didn't help Hideo's embarressment any. "A 'Road Apple' is what they use around here, as a polite way of saying, Horse Droppings. I know it shouldn't be funny, it's just that there is something about you that makes me feel like myself again.... I don know. Maybe it's the fact that I used to pull small things like that on new members of the Family." I start walking back towards town to hide the catch in my voice, at the mention of my Clan.
I didn't bother looking back. I just kept walking. I didn't like the way that she was hitting on him either, but only because he shouldn't try anything with a ditzy mortal 'til he was trained. But sadly it was the only place in town. 'Cause I sure as heck wasn't going to eat no road apple!

I frowned at her, closing my eyes in frustration. "No, I don't. I've only been in America for less then a year, and I've never been in a small town setting like this." I rubbed the side of my head with my two of my fingers, feeling like I had a headache. "I'm glad you are having fun a t my expense, but you'll forgive me if I am somewhat frustrated by it." I looked up, noticing she was on the move back into town, and started to walk after her. "Until coming here, I lived in Toyko. Not the smallest place, and nothing like this."

It looked like I was going to have to teach him more then just about being a Hunter. If it hadn't been for me he probably woulda be pranked into buying and even eating a road apple by a would-be punker. "I'm sorry if I offended you." I call over my shoulder. "Just a word of warning for the future though. I do play pranks. Don't be upset by it. I don't really mean harm. Pranks mean that you're on my good side. So as long as I'm making a prank, you're okay."

I shook my head, already calming down. "No, it is fine. I'm not used to this kind of teasing. I suppose my sister was to young to do such pranks on me, but I will try to be more relaxed in the future. I suppose this job is stressful enough, without fighting with those you are supposed to work with." I smiled at her. "Just, please, be careful. They more I learn, the more I will be able to turn back on you, in time." He looked over at the dinner with a sigh. "Perhaps I will be lucky, and that waitress will be on break."

I giggled. "I don't think that you'd ever get that good." I sighed. "Yeah or she's in bed for the night. Girls like her are always concerned about their looks. They think that the world revolves around them, and everything they do." I was curious, so I asked. The teachers need to learn things too. "Do you guys have girls like that in Japan? I've seen plenty of Anime, but that's not really real. It's someones fantasy. So do ya?" Anything I learn about him and where he's from could help with his training. But to be on the non-offencive side, I add, "It's okay if you don't want to tell me Hideo-" I stop. "Ummn. Am I supposed to call you Kun, or San? Which would be the proper title?" I didn't like to really offend people, even though I love pranks. But he doesnt need to know that....
