I shook my head. "It's just Hideo. If you wanted to talk to me in Japanese, we could go into the specifics, but in English it's not really applicable. As for that kind of girl, sure, some of them are, but it's not the norm. You just try to let them be as much as possible." I looked over at her with a smile. "Why, am I going to run into a lot of that type of girl here, in America?"

"Ok, then. 'Just Hideo'." I fought a grin at the tease I had just made. "But I was just wondering because I might have to use that at some point. Sometimes we have to make up stories to fight Demons, sadly. Sometimes people get in the way. But that's another lesson for another day."
I didn't have to think about the answer to his question about the girls. "Yes. America is very big on the whole apperance thing. I'm considered a 'Freak' because of how I dress, walk, talk, and if anyone found out what I've done from the time that I was able to fight for myself, I'd be locked up. Here it's all about "Looks" and "Keeping up appearances". But yeah. They can even get stuck up and can be real problems because of it. I've even heard stories about girls that aren't what is considered the "best looking" have a smoking Boyfriend, and a "gorgous" girl walks by, sees them and wants him. She does whatever she can to get her hands on him. The sad part is that 9 times out of 10, the guy was only with his girlfriend 'cause he thought that she was an easy lay. And that 1 time that he's genuine, whell the girlfriend gets hurt by the jealous "thing", because she didn't give up her guy, and he wouldn't leave her. That's how bad it is. It's always about "Looks". "
I had went into more of an explaination then I wanted to. But he needed to know atleast one example of how bad it can get. How really bad it can get....

I shook my head, disappointed. "I see. Well, if it means anything, I do not think you are a freak. In fact, Zepyna, I think you look quite nice. Unique, if you do not mind." I bowed my head slightly, but smiled as I shifted my gaze up to her. "Is Zepyna what you prefer, or do you want me to call you something else?"

"I perfer Zeph. Or Z. But Never Call Me Zephy." I stated the last one matter-of-factly. I have had people my whole life call me Zephy, 'cause they thought that Zeph was 'wrong'. They would always say, that's a boys nickname; girls aren't supposed to go by boy's names; that's wrong. But I don't care. I like Zeph. It's mature, short, to the point. Granted everything i'm not, but still. Dad always said that if I used it for those reasons then maybe it'll rub off on me. But I added, "And if Zeph or Z bother you, then just stick to Zephyna."
I looked at him closely for a moment, "Is there anything else that I can call you?"

I smiled, nodded. "Zeph will be fine, then. As for anything else." I stopped in front of the dinner door, my hand on the handle. "When do we start?" I smiled, and pushed the door open, holding it for her and motioning her inside. "And with what?"

I grinned. He didn't understand my question I guess. Or he was being polite to me and changing the subject. Not wanting to call me on my ignorace. I walked through the door to the diner. Looking around I notice that the waitress was at the far end of the counter from the door. I felt mischevious. And I had an idea. My grin grew as I turned to Hideo. "We'll talk about that later. For now how about a game? You don't want her to hit on you right? If you play along it could get interesting!" And it would schock the pants off that little tart in a heartbeat! As if it weren't possible, but was happening anyway, my grin grew even bigger as I waited for his answer.....

As I followed her in, my eyes fell on the waitress and I frowned, looking away in the hopes she wouldn't notice me, but I knew it would be impossible as we would have to order from her. I raised an eyebrow, but shrugged. "Alright, let's try whatever you have in mind." I decided to follow her lead, ready to do anything she instructed.

My grin grew again. Intrestingly enough my face didn't hurt. I walked up close and sliped myself under Hideo's right arm, the one I was closest to. I draped his arm over my shoulders, and put my arm around his waist and giggled like a lovestruck idiot. "Aw! You're so sweet!! Taking me out to Dinner!" I called out in a loud giggly voice to catch the waitresses attention. When she looked over towards the door, her face dropped. And I just continued to grin.....

I smiled, understanding what she was playing at, and shrugged. "Anything for you, Z. Lets go sit down." I led her to a seat smiling, and motioned to booth. "You first, sweetie." I winked at her, then glanced at the waitress indifferently. "Or would you rather sit on the end?" I looked back a Zeph with another smile.

((lol. I was worried there for a sec. Didn't think that you'd go with the idea, that maybe it was a bit much.))
I reached out and grabbed his arm. "No!" I cryed. "I want to sit across from you so I can see you!" And I attempted to half swing Hideo around to the other side of the booth. All the while I held on to his hand, watching the waitress out of the corner of my eyes. She was sooooo mad! 'Goody!' I thought. I loved seeing girls like her get what they really deserved! It was always fun. ' 'Sides.' I continued to myself, 'This is kinda like a prank. Just as fun anyways.'

((I figured it was what you had planned :D))
I smiled, and let her swing me to the other side. "Whatever you like, Z." I sat down, sliding in, and kept a hold on her hand, glancing at the waitress out of the corner of my eye. "So, what you you like, baby?" I looked back at Zeph, decided since I had started, I'd see how far she would take this... and follow through with it with her.

((:P Don't get in over your head, you do and you'll most likely drown. :P))
"I want Chilly Cheese fries!!" I cryed out excitedly. I probed at the waitress's mind and I found that she was so more ticked off then she was showing. Must be one of those girls that believes that if she shows anything on her face but what looks like she's ready to jump in the sack, then she'll turn 'hideous'. I laughed. Atleast for the time we were in the dinner I could pretend to have a happy life for once.
"He doesn't want to wait, Mastress."
I looked up to see Joe, looking at Hideo and my hands entwined on the table.....

I smiled, and looked over at the waitress, wondering if she would refuse to take our order, when I noticed Joe again. I raised an eyebrow, then leaned across the table towards her. "I assume this is more important then what we're doing here, then? Do you need to see him alone, or should I come along?" I was fine either way, and I wouldn't mind staying here if she didn't need me.

I glanced at Joe. "Whell?"
Joe continued to look at our hands. "It's up to you, Mastress. But either way he will want to know about any Clan members and what they mean to you." He finally met my sidelong gaze. "Since your job's not to do 'this'." He pointed a boney hand at what was on the table."
I sent a quick series of Images to Joe through our mind link, 'Something that I'll have to teach Hideo' I thought on the side. I wanted Joe to understand what was going on, so he wouldn't tell the Old Man. Or if he did it would be the truth. And not just what he'd seen.

I blushed slightly, and while I felt I should let go of her hand, something inside me actually liked being like this with her, not just to get that waitress to leave us alone. I looked over at Zeph. "I can stay, if that will be easier. I don't want to get in the way of things."

I looked between Hideo and Joe. Joe had been with me since long before my parents died. He knew that no matter how uncomfortable I might be with the Old Man, or him meeting Hideo, Joe knew that I couldn't leave Hideo behind. It was worse for me to do that. To me it would be the Clan's masicarre all over again.
I took a long look at Hideo. He was polite, kind, considerate, and though he didn't understand my pranks he was willing to put up with them. Whatever the reason might be, and I silently hoped that he was only wanting to be near me to learn the ways of Hunters. Or did I? Either way, I couldn't let him get killed. It would hurt too much. Even though I've only known him for a very short time. ' 'Sides.' I reminded myself. 'A teacher never leaves her student behind!'
I stand up, pulling my cell out of my jacket pocket. Pretending to answer a call.
"Yeah?" I just stared out into space. "Whell could you tell him I'm on my way? And I'm bringing someone along with me?" I stop and put on a terrified face, as I held onto Hideo's hand with one of my own and my cell with my other. "No! Don't tell him, he's my boyfriend!!" It had to be believable. 'Sides that was what Joe had implyed when he said that 'this' wasn't my job. I needed both guys to know what was going on. "'Sides I'm his 'Tutor', remember?" Though that was slightly off, by miles. And because it was I sent thoughts to Joe to tell him that It was all part of the game.
I hung up, and turned to Hideo. "Whellp! Lets go. We have to go see the Old Man" I didn't even have to act like it was a horible thing.
By th time we walked out the door however, I completely forgot that I was still holding Hideo's hand.......

I nodded, standing up, and followed her out. Once outside, I noticed she hadn't let go of my hand, and did nothing to correct this. Instead, I spoke up again. "So, who is this 'Old Man', and what do you figure he wants?" I had been wondering about the Old Man since Joe had first mentioned him, and it looked like I was about to meet him.

I slowed down. My thoughts were so upset that I didn't notice our hands. I shook my head. "Believe me he's not that bad. It's just," I had to tell him, "Ok. Don't call him 'Old Man' to his face ok? He barely tolorates me doing it. He has the title of 'The One'. He's a creepy old guy that knows all about me and everything and everyone. But the weirdest thing is that after I met him, he cant tell how I'm doing or what's going on with me, unless I go talk to him. The best part of it is that because you're 'with me' he cant 'see' you. But that can sometimes be a bad thing." I stop to try to calm myself down. After a few moments I finish, "He's the one who got me started on this Hunt. Who brought me back to Hunting. He knows that I'm the only one who can defeat this particular Demon." I mummble under my breath, "'The One Who Brings the Mist'"........

I raised my eyebrow. "I see. So, he's some sort of powerful old guy, and he knows everything, unless it's related to you, and since you and I are together, that means he can't see me, right? And now, he is helping you find some kind of specific demon, who I assume is the reason you are here. Do you think he has some information for you, since he wants to talk to you?" I wondered if he knew as much about me as I expected he did.

I nodded. "Basically yes. To everything. And incase you're thinking it... Yes he most likely knows everything about you from the moment that you stepped on American soil, atleast. I don't think he bothers with anything or anyone outside of his lands. Ofcourse once you came into contact with me, you are 'unseen'." I had shaded just slightly when he said the part about us being together, though I knew it had nothing to do with dating. I noticed our hands, and blushing a deep crimson, I turned away as I politly let go. "I'm sorry. I was just so upset about that, that I didn't know I still had your hand..." I trailed off. 'I'm his teacher! Gawds above and below! I cant get involved like that!!' I look at Hideo out of the corner of my eye, and wonder how long even telling myself that would work....

I nodded, looking a little troubled, but my thoughts were interrupted when she noticed we were still holding hands. "Oh, right, sorry." I let go as well, and rubbed the back of my head, more embarrassed that I hadn't let go sooner then about having not let go. "So, um, where do we find him?"

I was alone again. The way I liked it. There was a distance between me and Hideo. But if I like the distance, why did it feel so terrible? I decided to answer his question instead of think about dangerous things.
"We go to the only place that he knows that I'd be willing to meet him."
I head towards the train station. "I'll buy the tickets since I know where we're going." Ofcourse I know. Though I hadn't been there since that night.......

I nodded, rubbing the back of the hand she had just let go with my free hand. It tingled, like it wanted to be in hers again. I shook my head, clearing it. 'She is my Senpai, nothing more. Focus on what you must do, and what you must learn. Once you have learned, if she still wants to travel with you, then you can see what develops'. I looked up at her as I noticed we were at the station. "All right, you get the tickets. I'll get us something from the machine." I pointed at the vending machines off to the side, "since we haven't had dinner yet." I walked over, glancing back to make sure I didn't lose sight of her as I stopped in front of the machines, and took out all my change.

I stood in line at the ticket counter and nodded my asention to Hideo. But as I waited I started to look around. There was a portly looking Shadow, rubbing it's self up on the other woman around. And it was feeding off of their energy. People think that it's the travel that wears them out. No it's these beings know as Shadows. They go where ever emotions run the highest. Usually fear. They love the taste of fear. In fact, Shadows are what your kid sees in the closet or under the bed at night. It's only when the child loses the Gifts, the Sensitivity, do these things even go away. If the child is lucky enough to live that long. The parents that really care about there kids by them nightlights, to keep the Shadows away.
I did a Flare spell. A few actually. They looked to the average mortal, to be just a few bottle rockets. But they did the job. They scared the Shadow away. For now.
I got to the counter, and bought the tickets. Glancing around I notice Hideo was still standing at the machines. I sighed. 'Fine!' I grumbled to myself. And started to head over to help him........

I stood in front of the vending machines, deciding what to go with. As I reached for my first pick, I heard Zeph set off her Flare spell. I looked back, not sure what was going on, but when I saw it was her who had done it, I shrugged, and turned back to the machine. Making note of the price, I put in five quarters, and pressed C7. I looked back as Zeph showed up, and smiled. "Hey, I was just wondering what to get for you."
