If it's ever late at night and I can't sleep, reading just about ALWAYS does the trick for me. Either that, or listening to quiet/easy going music like something on the piano.

Listening to music and coming up with a story in my head. Usually Fanfiction. And more often than not Devil May Cry. It's just the first thing that pops into my head. Though lately it's switch to Dragon age Origins.

I read, and listen to ambient music, something without lyrics for me to focus on. It helps, most of the time.

Whenever I have trouble falling asleep I either read until I can't keep my eyes open, or I go hop in the shower real quick.

Staying up past four am every night. Falling asleep is easier when your eyelids feel like they weigh a ton.

I have to have some type of noise to sleep, so I usually always leave my tv on.
Then the room has to be SUPER cold.

Reading a tectbook used to do wonders for that. I fell asleep easily after a math textbook.
It could even allow me to sleep sitting up right. I guess my mind really rejected math on a deep level.

I always wind up lying in bed, making stories in my head (haha, rhyme!) until I doze off. But sometimes I get too into the plot and it keeps me awake. xD
For me, staying up well past the sleep deadline helps me sleep. I'll be out as I hit the pillow, sometimes! Nightcaps also help (the drink kind, not the actual hats people wear to bed). The best sleep I've gotten in a while was after I had a few drinks and I slept for six hours STRAIGHT! o_o

Either holding a stuffed animal. Having a cat in the bed with me, or having my hubbies arm around me. The last one is the best. ^_^

I have a lot of trouble falling asleep, which is a BAD, BAD thing when you have a new baby on your hands. Sometimes, a warm bath, a glass of wine, and a book will help, followed by a cup of herbal tea...and if all else fails, I'll go with a shot of whiskey. I don't have time to waste on stuff that MIGHT work, since if I'm having one of those "I can't sleep" nights, I won't be tired until the baby wakes up to eat, then I'm tired and crabby all day and my house doesn't get cleaned.

Im with you on that one.
If im stressing out about something i wont be able to sleep at all until i resolve the issue. Once that's done, i can just relax and think about nothing.
Thinking about the colour black helps me fall asleep quick.
If it doesnt work, I play a video game until i pass out. Lol
