Snuggling my man and my animals helps me sleep. Or watching an animated movie until I pass out. Usually one I've seen a million times, like Finding Nemo, or Barnyard, or Spirit: Stallion of the Cimerron, or Aristocats, etc.

Apparently the small fan I put in my room has been helping me fall asleep, which is kind of amazing because before I used to have to sleep when it was completely silent or I would wake up. I used to be a light sleeper, and since I've been sick..I guess I'm becoming a heavy sleeper...thanks to this stupid virus that refuses to leave my body..which I've had for more than three weeks now...GRRRR!?!?!?

I have OCD rituals to go to sleep, but if those dont work, I usually chug some milk and try to clear my mind of any thoughts. I used to date this one boy who couldnt go to sleep without some music, some of it was rather soothing; however, when I spent the night with him from time to time I would wake up in the middle of the night when some rather un-soothing sounds to me would play.

i stare blankly at my monitor in hopes that the internet sleeping fairy strikes pixie dust and i fall asleep, banging my head on the keyboard, thereby waking me up again.

in all seriousness, i guess im pretty much clock-work. Asleep by 8-10am, wake up by 1pm, school and then work.

These things help me...
- Drinking a warm cuppa tea or milk
- Listening to calming music while I sleep

Hmm. I think that's it.

I have used meditation and music in the past.
If you want a non natural solution half a benadryl or one childrens benadryl have been known to work wonders.

Ooh, I like curling up in a big ball under my blankets with my iPod on somethin' like Vanessa Carlton or Owl City (don't hate D8) after taking my meds. I have problems sleeping too, and my doctor put me on this stuff that's called Lexypro.

I usually just focus on my breathing, listen to the sound of my breathing, and then when my mind starts to wander, I start listening to ambient room sounds, the sound of the clock, my fiance breathing, the cats moving around. That usually puts me out in 10-20 minutes.

Try taking Melatonin. You can purchase it over the counter at any Walmart or CVS or etc. It is a natural compound found in the brain that helps tells it when to sleep. You do have to take it regularly for a couple of weeks to work well.
I always eat something sweet and read a book.

Very low music helps me.
Or if I have a really hard time falling asleep I read in bed. The best books for this are short story collections so even if you get hooked a story isn't too long.
Within an hour this usually puts me to sleep.

A warning though, there are two problems with this.
If you read hard back books they wear out your arms and if you fall asleep it can hurt your head when it falls on you.
Or it could back fire on you and you get hooked into a book. I did that once and ended up reading a 354 page book and finally got to sleep at 3am.

My husband helps me sleep. If he's with me, I have nothing to worry about, because he's all I worry about. Sadly, he's in the army and in Afghanistan until July. So, no sleep for me until then.

I actually have to rock myself to sleep a lot of the time. That, or I allow my mind to wander and think about the stories I write.

You know, if i'm havin a hard time sleeping, i'll stretch out, like focus on straining all the muscles in my body and then relax i'm like...*flop* dead for the night XD cuz it's like you exercised for a long time, but not.

Random little gem i picked up from sixth grade camp XD

Showering before bed, watching tv, benadryl, books, and very very happy thoughts that I will not go into details about. ^-^;

It also helps if your bed is very comfortable, but I find that soft couches help me get to sleep.

Hmm, usually playing my DS gets me pretty tired, after a while it feels like such a chore concentrating on all the little words on the page,a nd then I know it's time to put it down. But that's probably not the best one for your eyesight.

Sometimes I just close my eyes and let my mind wonder a little just thinking of various things, what I'm looking forward to for the following day or something I'd been working on/looking at earlier, I find that helps. :) Also, I read in a health book a method that supposedly helps you sleep, basically you have to close your eyes and get comfortable, lie very still, and kind of imagine that your feet are going numb and they're sinking into the lovely soft bed, then gradually you ankles, calves etc. I've tried it a few times with quite satisfactory results!

eh.. if I can't sleep I'll go listen to a song.
or read a manga..
which I already read..
cause then it's boring and I fall asleep easily..
...
I once woke up with two manga books in my bed... they didn't survive..
