I know some people might think this is weird, but I enjoy listening to videos of people drawing on youtube. There can't be any music or a lot of talking. I'm not sure why, but the sound of a paper being flipped or being drawn on relaxes me, thus making me tired. It really works well for me.

I have serious insomnia issues, i usually have to go outside and circle my block or pace around the kitchen table or something for like 2 hours or so, come upstairs, and either play keyboard, listen to music or sketch for a bit ><
----------
and for some reason, I always have to have strings of lights on and if I don't tell tell my kids i love them and dont kiss them before i go to bed, i cant sleep, so i have to hunt down my birds around my room and give em a big ol' smooch on the beak XD

I live on campus in a dorm. My neighbors can be really noisy sometimes even at like 3am. So one night, I'm trying to get some sleep and my neighbors are being super loud. I mean beyond rude considering probably everyone in the hall can hear her and her friends. I'm about to lose it when I hear her and her friends cackling and then run out of her room. I can hear them run and laugh all the way down the hall and down the stairs. I all of a sudden got a vision of them tripping and falling down the stairs....
I laughed at the thought, felt better, and fell asleep right after >>
So that's what I do now when I can't sleep. Think of people I don't like getting hurt in funny ways....I'm a horrible human being. But at least I get my sleep o:

I do a number of things when I can't fall asleep. Sometimes I write or draw, but what really helps is reading. It helps me relax. Lying in bed and snuggling with your covers, watching tv, or listening to music also helps.

Usually I just imagine that I am in the arms of my lover and I close my eyes. It relaxes me enough to fall asleep.

Warm baths. Sometimes if I run the bath tub and sit in it late at night, I fall asleep while in the bath tub. XD I never drown or anything though. I've heard you supposedly can, but I've done it a thousand times and been okay every time.

Music is pretty helpful here too. My roommate use to go to bed at like 2am, listening to her silly music. And sometime after my shower at ten and when she turned off her radio I would pass out. (:
Since moving back with my family, I haven't been sleeping well at all.
Everyone falls asleep at nine, so I'm forced to lay down and just wait for sleep to happen to be too. x.x It's very hard to calm myself down and rest, but a nice snuggle with my stuffed animal usually does the trick too.

What helps me fall asleep, hmm.... I'd say listening to soft music, or just think about what it's going to be like in the future, knowing that someone will be lying next to me. -SqweaBlush.- (I'm a romantic...O.o)

@Firoren: Hehe yeah? The weekend I spent with my boyfriend I passed out within seconds. Being happy and loved is the best way to fall asleep at night. Plus it was warmer there than on the cold couch I sleep on. xd

I also used to have trouble sleeping at night though now I got over it somehow.
I have heard that ussually people can 't sleep because they 're anxious or worried.
Anyway I think that milk helps you go to sleep easilly or you could try watching television. That helps as well. You can also try counting sheep though it wasn 't of much help to me.
I hope my advise helps. :)

Well, there are a few ways that I can help myself fall asleep. Sometimes i'll play a boring game until I get really tired, or I will read a book while i'm laying down, you could also try to eat something heavy like spaghetti or something of the sort, or you could get a nice warm bath. I hope any of these help.

If I'm having trouble sleeping I'll eat cereal or something else with milk. :) Also if you drink Calmag before you go to bed it helps SO MUCH.

Aside from sleeping pills and weed, low volume classical music seems to help quite a bit. Also need to have complete darkness and the door leading out of the room I'm in shut.

Somehow music can never make me sleep because I can not sleep throughout any kind of noise. So basically, one thing that makes me sleep would be complete silence. Even the slightest of any noise would usually wake me up and it will agitate me as hell when I wake up because of such a small thing.
Well, I would have said studying a few months ago when I would get bored rereading the same topics again and again just to remember but then since I am now working, I find myself, sometimes falling asleep mentally in front of the computer when I am typing out the reports I am supposed to do. I think sometimes, I black out and fall asleep for a few seconds when I can see words like 'this company is deemed reliable bbbbbbbbbbbeeeeeeeee' because my arm was probably pressing the same letter while I blacked out XD
Another thing that makes me sleep is watching boring movies. I usually know when its time to sleep when my eyes go blurry and all the images get whirly. So I will usually just switch the computer off and definitely go sleep right after that.
I guess I would say I used to be an insomniac but nowadays after being really tired at work and coming home late, I fall asleep much easier :)

Soft music. Usually soft piano, instrumental lullabies, ocean sounds, or Native American (usually flute) music. Also, a very hot shower helps. I do yoga before I go to bed to get rid of some of my built-up energy (and also in the morning to wake me up a bit). I've heard warm milk or just milk and cookies help. I also like staring at the stars and the sky, it winds me down. Sometimes I imagine (and don't laugh at me or this XD) that someone I love/really like is lying beside me and holding me. It makes me feel a bit secure. The one thing I do have to have to fall asleep is noise. Any kind of noise. I don't like the silence whatsoever.
