Usually I always have something on my mind when I go to bed (involving school)
I.E: Okay, I have to remember to bring this to the office, put this book in my locker, call my mom for a ride at a certain time, text my sister I may/may not need a ride, go to a morning meeting, stay after for a club, grab my instrument, remember to tell my friend something, ask for question help on my homework, study for some quiz/test, etc., etc.
Everyday has a new list of things to remember and different ways my schedule for the week will go. Coming up I have an AP test, confirmation, a recital, behind the wheel, blood drive, meetings, and MORE!
So...when I can't fall asleep I go through a whole schedule in my mind. I say to myself: Okay, when I wake up I will get all my homework together, study quick for a test, eat, go to school, write down homework, then I'll go to the library or a club...and so forth.
It helps me clear my mind because then I know exactly what will happen the next day and I don't have to worry anymore. Then I fall asleep. Zzzz....
But sometimes I don't...but that is another story. For another time. : )

Noise. I can't fall asleep in a quit room, I at least need music or tv on. Also cleaning. I mean hardcore organizing, cleaning every little spot of living space. Tires me out quick, lol

I'd drink tea if it didn't make me go to the toilet alot. XD;
Some people say that yoga helps. I tried it (okay, not very hard, but I did) and it didn't seem to work..
Music is great. And I make up stories too.
But my main problem with sleeping is getting the temperature right. I'm always too hot or too cold. :/

Lame as it sounds, I listen to a recording of an air conditioner. I also listen to some other ambient music too sometimes. Kevin Kendle is pretty good. I enjoy the Clouds album.

I always soak my feet in really hot/warm water before I sleep. Its really relaxing, and really comfy once you dry off and go to bed!

I have trouble sleeping. I have to take prescription sleeping pills to make me fall asleep. This is kind of childish, but I need to hold my penguin pillow while sleeping. I need to hold something or else my arms will ache when I wake up.

I like to make up stories, and tap my fingers.
I feel perverted talking/reading about others sleeping. O-O

I sleep with my partner. Snuggling helps...I know, super sappy. When I'm on my lonesome, I read. On the laptop in bed is BAD, even if I'm just reading. For some reason it keeps me up. But a book is fine. Even if it's interesting I usually fall asleep soon after I begin. Sometimes it doesn't work--if I'm heavily involved in the plot--but usually it does.
OH! Also--and I haven't done this for a while--I put on my headphones and listen to music. It would only work if it was something soothing or something I know, though. Once I was listening to a Xiu Xiu cd I was unfamiliar with and it scared me half to death and I shot right out of bed, even when I was in the throws of sleep! Anyway, music helped me get through dorm life.
Nights when my partner snores or his breathing annoys me, I get out the headphones. :)

I don't know about you, but listening to a math instructor drone on and on will make me go asleep pretty fast!
I can get to sleep pretty easy if I'm reading something that I find exceedingly technical, or extremely boring. If I'm reading a novel or a non-fiction book which interests me it gets me hooked- before you know it, it's 4 in the morning and you've blasted seven chapters past that "one more chapter" before you go to bed! xD

In all honestly, the only thing that makes me fall asleep is if I stay awake until I'm both mentally and physically exhausted, then the room has to be completely silent, and I'll sleep like a baby until morning.

If all else fails I take some melatonin. It helps even out the natural melatonin levels in the body and is really safe. It's also not habit forming unless you have a big disposition towards addiction. I used to take belladonna but I became a little sensitive towards it.

Wellllll.....I like to sleep (10-12 hours preferred) but I really have trouble falling asleep in the first place XP that helps me sleep is that I have to be tucked into a nice, warm blanket that keeps my body warm, while I have an arm or leg out that a nice, cool breeze will be able to breeze across it <3 and also Lavender and this other herb blended together makes me SUPER dozy XP I tried it at the mall once and I was asleep for half the day until I drank some ice cappuccino XD

I normally would toss and turn all night long but my boyfriend usually gives me massages to help me fall asleep.
