and in Queer as Folk there was a relationship between a 17 year old and a 29 year old XD didn't bother me though cause to me that isn't Shota.. plus they were an amazingly hot couple.. well and it was legal in the state the show was based in (Pittsburgh)

Boku no Pico is shota yaoi for straight males. :| They didn't even try to make the little boy sound like a boy. It was just a flat-chested girl with male-parts. (They actually aim a lot of pseudo-gay things at straight males who like futanari -- girls with male genitalia. >>; ) Also, in Boku no Pico, Pico uses the speech patterns of a little girl, not a little boy. And, you know, there's pretty much nothing but crossdressing.

I watched Boku no Pico and Pico to Chiko for a few chuckles. And boy, did I get me some chuckles.

I'm one of those off people who doesn't mind shota and actually likes it at times, as long as it's fictional. In real life, it's squick-worthy. I prefer my shota series to not involve sex, and to stick to the cute/romantic aspect of that sort of thing. But then, I just like the dynamic of the whole thing. xD The older male is almost always really protective of the little kid. I like (fictional) incest for the same reason -- I like the relationship dynamic.


EDIT: Niisama added that shota manga/anime are usually never a realistic representation of adult male/young boy relationships. xD I think if it was, I would be a lot more uncomfortable about it.

However, if I'm reading something where the guys look older then what the manga say...I can improvise and make it work in my head lol. They tend to do that in manga anyway with saying a character is only 14 and they look like they are 17 or something.

Ugh Shota is pretty damn awful. I don't do it at all. Loveless had pretty art, but I hated the pairing because of the age difference. I prefer 20 and up in anime. Goku from Saiyuki STILL looks to young for me.

Large gaps in age is one of the things that are my guilty pleasure. xD I'm not sure how or when this came about.
But then, I guess I can see why people are squicked purely on age. One of my friends couldn't watch Loveless because of it. S'not everyone's thing. Though, I personally love that series (pun might be intended). I haven't seen it for about four or so years. This must be rectified!

large gaps in ages isnt what bothers my about Shota XD its the children lol but then once its gets to older teens its not longer shota and i have no problems with it
if the main character in Enzai was older i wouldnt have a problem with the show.. i actually kinda like Dub-Con XD which is what is ultimately is when you take the shota factor out

I'm probably a lot less weak to thinking about shotacon things, because I was pretty darn young when I got into BL and was reading/writing fanfiction and whatnot. I was really close to the young characters' ages, and so it wasn't, "OMFG TOO YOUNG" to me. xD I guess I never grew out of that mindset. But again, I just really like the relationship dynamic.

I love to watch Loveless...I just automatically make Ritsuka older (like 17) in my mind cause I mean he seems mature to me for his age. So it doesn't seem like there is much of an age gap...or at least not one that is so noticeable that I can't click it and fix it in my mind lol. ^_^

I find it funny, because the age gap in Loveless is meant to make you uncomfortable, because Ritsuka is uncomfortable. You're supposed to empathize with him. xD And if there wasn't that uncomfortable age gap, everyone would be focusing on Soubi and going, "Oh, I want a hot art student like that to come and say those same things to me! *o*" and miss the point, haha. (Though, I think most people who can handle the ages still react that way... D| )
