See my programs at University are not mandatory to attend every class, unless it is a clinical one. I have skipped two classes in the whole year, but that was because I only have one class on Fridays, so I skip in an go home so that I can have a long weekend.

But other than that I go to all of my classes...even when I'm sick, just because I am afraid that I will miss something uber-important.

I don't know about your teachers, but mine tell me not to come if I'm sick and even tell people to go home if they're really sick. You shouldn't be coming to school and spreading your germs!

I am mixed. It is healthy in that you are expanding your mind and socializing. But lets just say this: after graduating college I passed the 200 lb mark for the first time in my life. This is mostly due to lack of time to exercise because of homework and commute times, etc. In fact, it has statistically been proven that the average person gains 25 lbs while in college. So I can say that is unhealthy!

It all depends. Health wise it could potentially not be healthy for you...especially with all of the sicknesses going around. In college you could possibly pick up all sorts of nasty little germs if rooms and other areas aren't maintained properly. You could catch stuff from other people. Mentally, potentially yes, potentially no. College, well depending on which college you go to, gives you a lot of work. Most classes pile work on top of work. So with so much work to deal with, there's a possibility that one could encounter a good amount of stress. I know at the college that I attend, we hardly get any homework or do anything extra so there isn't much of a burden being placed upon us. Yet on the other hand when you don't have so much work, you are free to do whatever you want on your own time. So the freedom could make the mind much much better. So it all depends on the person's situation at hand.

College. Is good but if you are really sick and don't want to go the class cause H1V1 or something else. You can try Online coruse, cause I might going that for me weather your sick or not. Weather if you don't want to pay gas for car. College is depent on the person themself weather like fell like to. The way of my college do. Don't show up on the first day is a class drop-out. They don't care if you don't show up or fail. It not like High School which they call you why you didn't show up to school.

If you stop and think about it, what school really is healthy? Even day cares have little ones running around sick because their parents can't afford to miss work.

In all honesty, if you ask me, I think the whole world is unhealthy because every day there is at least someone out walking about the place with an illness and they might not even know it.

I'm not saying this just to scare you, I'm just saying this to kind of inform you and I don't know maybe encourage you to wash your hands a bit more often and sanitize things properly before you use them. Yes I'm a bit of a germ freak.

Because I'm forking over money I don't have to get the mandatory education, I will attend a class if I'm bleeding into my brain. But I'm an extremest when it comes to my education.

College is horrible. School in general, is horrible. I've been so stressed over the years and cried over nothing. I firmly believe the mindset students are forced to be in is extremely unhealthy and hurtful. I really hate school. Love learning. But hate the institution.

Why am I paying for classes I will never have to use in my profession? Really. How many doctors can tell you the symbolism in The Scarlet Letter? Why do they need to know? Dumb.

College is the worst. Our education system is just a big waste to make people well-rounded individuals, but how many people can say they are equally good in all classes? We ( or most) know what their strength is.

I would much prefer preparing for a career like people did hundreds of years ago: apprenticeship. Nothing excessive or unnecessary. People back then managed to live good lives.

Too bad it's so expensive, even to pay for your own future. T.T That's where finacial aid comes in handy indeed...

Though sometimes Financial aid doesn't really help. I filled out the papers for financial aid and what not, I did this and that, filled out FAFSA, etc. and got awarded 1...and I mean 1 scholarship. Fafsa doesn't even award me nothing and I do make good grades and stuff. College should be free. . .just be free. Helps take off some of the stress.

I hate going to school, even college. I think that college is unhealthy. I'm not just saying that because I dislike the place but because I think its true. Stress can help make you sick. But if your sick, you stress out about missing class(es) which makes you either sicker longer or worse.

Everyone has their own options which i think is really cool. Some people like school and think its healthy and others think that it is unhealthy.

Soooo, if you're referring to the lifestyle, manly eating... then not so much.
Enjoy my 1/4 of a an obesity essay:

Quote:
A description of the target audience:

A poll funded by the federal government at a Northeastern university measured the weights of 382 students – 40 percent of them being male. The weights were taken four times throughout the school year. The results were that “Over the year, we found that males gained 5.6 pounds and females gained 3.6 pounds, with the large majority of that weight gained in the first semester." Moreover, it was discovered that every one out of six students gained ten or more pounds, and a total of six percent ended up gaining the “Freshman 15” or more. (Alfano, 2006)

This studied group ended up having more than 17 percent of the students fall under the obese category, up three percent from the initial percentage of 14. But why do college freshmen gain this weight? This number continues to increase as students move into their sophomore year too. In another case, of 907 students, the young adult males put on an average of 9.5 pounds more and females gained an additional 9.2 pounds from when they initially started college. (Alfano, 2006) Chances are students gain this extra weight from the “sudden freedom that first-year college students experience during their first experience living on their own.” (Beck, 2005)

Health services created a list of tips for students. According to the list, students like to “munch” while they study instead of breaking to eat. This can case, students tend to indulge in more food than they might even realize. In addition to that, students tend to drink less water at college. Instead of drinking the required amounts, students purchase and drink sugary energy drinks, adding on some extra weight. (Beck, 2005)

Since students are “free” and exposed to a wide range of food options, it is understandable why cheap take-out food is preferred over finding a stove and cooking a nice, time-consuming homemade dinner. Being students, time is of the essence and cannot be “wasted” on cooking. Vending machines full of junk food and sodas are also scattered about campuses. Instead of going to purchase an apple at the café, a student might opt to purchase a Snickers bar and a Pepsi, hoping to gain an energy boost to help then get through the rest of the day. (Bierma, 2009) Not only are vending machines nearby, but they also don’t involve long lines. Again, time is money so eating junk food while on the run seems like the right alternative to going to the café. (McQuillan, 2006)

So yeah... college is healthy for the brain - gaining more knowledge - but not necessary good for your body. ^^

auurgh! they have signs at my college that says if you are sick, stay home... cos of that swine flu scare. BUT! if you miss a day, you miss out on participation points, homework, valuable information... etc. it just isnt worth it! it's really bad too because i WALK to school 30-40mins to and the same about back: rain, shine, snow, sleet, wind... and i have to walk through that even when sick. at least these days they offer many online or hybrid classes that you dont have to go to the class as much or at all... but... i dunno.
i dont even know where the nurse's office is! *death*

I had my answer just after reading your title... lol... "no"

For one, at my college whenever people are selling things at the college, I commonly hear and sometimes say the famous phrase "I'm a college student, I don't have money"... thus with no money comes "fast cheap and easy", thus unhealthy.

it depends on how you take care of yourself i mean when i first started i was tired then i started going to the gym and i feel so much better

plus it depends on what you are eating alot of people grab what they can so that they can and eat on the go and what they pick is really unhealthy.

so its about 50/50
