yumi sighed after playing all of the games in the arcade and high scoring just about all of them. she looked back at balthazar who was still intent on following her everywhere and shook her head. this was getting quiet annoying for her. she walked back into the city streets which were starting to perk up a bit and stepped into a crowd of people heading down the street. she fell into step with them esily and looked back finding balthazar nowhere. if she was without him, it would probably be best for the both of them. she sidestepped out of the crowd and trotted into an alley. she climbed a coupe fences and turned a few corners until she found herself lost in a strange place. she looked all around her, but culd find nothing familiar to her for herself to guide her way back to balthazar. she was a bit scared, which she rarely was, and continued to turn random corners of alleys until she could find something. rather more anything. familiar.

"Don't be sorry, YOur race killed my first protector." Zenfoid looked away

Atez eyed him uncertainly, though he did have a point. If she was to get better she couldn't run around in the cold. All the same, she did not take kindly being told what to do.
"I do not have to do anything you command." she stated firmly, then paused, "However... if you would like for me to rest... then you might be of assistance. I do intend to kill numerous experiments. Others must not have your blood, they must not gain power to fight me."

Melik was writing everything down. ((Where the hell did he get the supplies?!?!))

"Okay, I got it. Don't die. And kill people. I shall be back with a dead body!" Melik flew out of the house.

As he was running along the alleyways he asked himself something. Am I really capable of murder?

DUH! Hello, use me! ME ME ME!

Melik grinned. This would be a lot easier than he thought. He rounded another corner, but paused before crossing the alley.

Bingo. Victim number one.

Melik flew into the alley. "Help me, help me! She's after me!"

He watched as the specimen whirled around to help.

"Sucker!"

VRONK!

Melik slammed his body into a wall. Slitting open its throat, he captured the spouting blood in a jar. He looked around, his face stained with the foul smelling crimson liquid.

Hmmmm, he was too easy to kill. A test subject?

Most likely not... oh well. Onto the next one!

Melik jumped a top a building. Perfect! He spied a group of what appeared to be 'fresh specimens.'

Ha! These are actual subjects, they are in the uniforms.

These appear to be the new uniforms.

He jumped off the roof and landed before them. "Hello!" Melik gave a sweet smile. The youngsters ran up to him as they admired someone of their species. He winched. The thought of killing children bugged him. But, he didn't hesitate. He sliced through them as if they were a piece of bread. Each head slid off its body.

KRAK!

PLAT!

THUDD!

Five scared, lifeless heads looked up at him. "Tch, too easy. It's like stealing candy from a baby."

Melik scavenged for their blood-filled body parts, taking the heart, kidneys, livers, and anything else he thought looked interesting.

Looking up, he noticed someone coming. Fleeing the scene, Melik retreated back home. He'd killed enough for the night, and maybe even enough for a lifetime.

Placing the parts down on the table, he went back outside. Waiting for Atez to awaken would be boring, so he figured he met up with some friends... or maybe find a new playmate.

Wandering the streets, he ended up getting himself lost. "Oh jippy freaking skippy." He sighed and leaned against a post. Blood still covered his innocent face, but he seemed to forget this fact.

yumi continued down an alley until she smelled something foul. she scrunched up her nose and followed the scent until she came across a few children. they were all dead, that was fairly obvious. their heads were a few feet away from their bodies and blood soaked the concrete floors of the alley. yumi froze and her face turned white. she let out a loud, long scream and cried for the children. she was always careful for the little ones. she noticed their uniforms for the first time underneath all of the foul scarlet colored blood and froze again. they were like she once was. and they were murdered. she immidiatly regretted her scream in case someone might have heard and turned around on her heel and started to run away from the bodies, brushing her tears away and running to try and find balthazar. she knew she would be safer with him. and right now, she needed to feel safe because she was scared out of her right mind.

"Quiet down!" Melik came out of nowhere to cover the girl's mouth. "Are you stupid or are you trying to die?" He carried her away from the crime scene. Playing it dumb, he asked, "Did you see who murdered them?" He felt something on his lips. $#!T! He realized he hadn't removed the blood from his face. How would he get himself out of this mess.

He looked at the horrified girl. Melik grinned on the inside. "I...I... I tried to save them, but I was too late." Melik looked at this blood feet. "Damn monster. Killing innocent children. Who could do it? Who could stoop down that low?" Melik reached out to calm the girl. "My name is..." he paused. He couldn't be Melik anymore, he was a wanted man. He saw a wanted poster of himself. The picture did him no justice, so no one would recognize him. "...I actually don't know my name. I'd been going by the name Melik because it means 'conqueror.' I thought it sounded tough." He sighed. "So enough about me, who are you and why is a cutie like yourself wandering the streets at this late hour alone?"

Atez drifted off to sleep quickly, curling up in her bed. She really didn't feel well and yet she absolutely despised being unwell. Hopefully Melik would manage to accomplish some things without her.

As she slept, images from the past began to fill her dreams. Monsters of her own kind came and terrorized her nightmares. She tossed and turned feverishly. Suddenly she shot up in bed, panting and looking around sharply. Zeta's silver eyes were filled with such fear and her heart raced in panic.

"Where are you?" she hissed to the dark, "Where... where..." she began to calm down, not seeming to find anyone nearby.

yumi felt hands cover her mouth and she kicked until they let her go. she wiped her mouth and found blood. she looked back at him suspiciously and nodded slowly, gaining a bit of self-control back for herself. "i am...yumi..." she said wondering if she should have told him, already sensing something very wrong about this "melik". she decided that staying a few feet away from him, even if he was an innocent by-stander would be safest. she didnt know much about fighting, but knew it would come to her if she needed it. "i was...looking for a friend and i...got lost..." she said quietly, backing up a bit more.

"Ahhh, a friend. Where did you last see him? Do you two have a meeting place? I can accompany you." Melik smiled and held out a hand. "Don't be afraid, I'll protect you."

He walked forward, taking her hand. As he weaved them between buildings, he came to a fairly crowded area - the church he had dropped Torrence off at.

"Torrence!" He jumped forward to tackle his blue-haired friend. "How is my cute girl doing?" He smiled and called Yumi over. "This here is Yumi. She seemed to have lost her Protector. Would you mind looking over her for me? I have someone that needs tending." He looked Torrence in the eye, giving her the look of, if you tell this girl I'm with a hunter, I'll kill you.

Melik smiled at the two girls. "Torrence is a skilled warrior. She's a subject just like you, but she's one hell of a girl. Also, this church does a wonderful job protecting female subjects." He smiled and waved at some nuns. "Father is a kind man, he will offer you food and new clothes."

Laughing, he looked back at Torrence. "I can't believe you're still here. I thought you'd have run off by now. Anyways, I think you should pay Eleanor a visit. She could use some friends." He slipped her a piece of paper with a number on it. "She lives there," he said placing a kiss on Torrence's head.

Turning to Yumi he handed her something. "This is for you my cute princess." He placed a glass tiara on her head. "There, now you are officially a princess." He smiled and placed a kiss on her cheek.

"You two be safe. Stay out of trouble. And... remember to smile even in the heat of battle." With that, he turned and vanished.

He now stood hovering over Atez. "Something wrong my love?" He said placing her head on his lap. "You seem paranoid about something. Do you wish to share? Or shall I let this slide?" Melik smiled at her. "Even when you're in this state you are still the most beautiful woman I have ever seen."

Zeta pulled away from Melik's grasp, she touched her forehead gingerly, "I am fine" she insisted, "Quit treating me like a child." she turned her eyes away from him, hoping to hide the fear long enough for it to pass. Her heart was still racing, trying to calm herself Zeta tried to get up to her feet. Atez was a sleep and Zeta didn't like having someone else do all her work for her.

"It is okay, not like you did it, right?" asked Zenfoid as his drink came and he took a sip "thanks" he told the waiter

Melik sat back on the bed. "I-I... I'm sorry." He looked away. "And I'm not trying to treat you like a child; I'm just trying to help you. I figured you'd rather be alive and full of strength." He licked the blood off his lips. "Heh, this stuff does taste pretty bad."

He moved closer to her. "Atez, your heart is racing. Are you sure you-... nevermind." He stood up and walked into another room. He figured she would never want to share with him anyways.

"I am not Atez, I am Zeta" she snapped at him, "and there is nothing wrong with me. I have all the stren-strength" she fell against the wall as she tried to stand, "all... that I need..." she swallowed a little uncertainly at her own words.

Zeta shook her head, trying to focus. "now, I have people to kill."

Eleanor was finally getting to the house. There was no door so she just ran inside, quickly putting a board up to block the enterance. Once it was up, she dug around in a pile of cloth and rags on the floor. It was here somewhere, she knew it. That's when her fingers collided into the cold, hard, sharp metal of the weapon. She quickly pulled it from its spot revealing a chained sycle, though the chains seemed to look more bone like, the sycle had a skull at the base and the weight was also a skull. She was never trained with Arrow's weapon, but she remembered how he used it. She was sure this would be able to help, at least just a little.

Melik started laughing. "Atez, Zeta, same difference! And, ummm... missy, over here." He placed a container full of blood before her. "Ummm, I think I killed one regular man, my b, and I...I killed five young test subjects."

Sitting back in the chair he just found, he grinned. "See, I can be useful." He pointed to his face. "Besides, I have your dessert right here." He looked down at the rest of him. "Okay, so I am dessert," he gave a devilish grin.

"And if you need blood, drink mine," he said lifting up his wrist. "Mmmmm, yummy. Not really, but still." Melik looked at her. "Please just stay in for the night. I have everything you could possibly need. Food, water, me, medicine, blood, me, comfy bed, warm sheets, me, whip, weapons, knives, me, shadows, the darkness, emptiness." He looked up at Zeta to see if she caught any the 'me.' He have a sheepish grin. "You know, you can do to me whatever you'd like." He shot her a dirty glance.

Blaise paused and leaned against a wall on the back of a building. His head tilted up as he looked to the sky. Now that he was full he was board. Sliding his hand toward his knife that sat at his side he rubbed the smooth end of the handle. His mind blank he kept his senses open.

Zeta eyed him, "you killed five experiments?" she sighed and leaned against the wall, too stubborn to give in and sit down again.

"I don't want any more blood" she groaned, "it hurts my stomach..."

Atez began to stir, taking over almost immediately, "It doesn't matter what hurts, we have to keep drinking it," she breathed, reaching out towards Melik, "It's a process... we have to get used to having it..."

"Got it," Eleanor whispered as she quickly draped the chained weapon around her neck and shoulder like a person would carry a rope. Pulling the board to the side, she went to jump out of the door way and as soon as she did she saw a male, and he was holding a blade. It spook her and instantly threw her off. Her steps stumbled a bit but then she said to herself, "I have to get to Torrence and help her." She then began running away from the guy, though she looked over her shoulder every now and again to see if he was following her.

Melik snickered. "Remember that 'satisfactory' seafood you ate? Well, it had my blood in it." He was beaming with delight. "Yourself is right, if you're going to get stronger, you'll need to start with getting used to the taste of my blood. We'll do baby steps. I'll even hold your hand."

Then it hit Melik. "HEY! You didn't even pick up on the fact that I was hitting on you. So cruel!" He crossed his arms. "The things I do for you and what do you do for me... NOTHING!" He was pouting now. "Couldn't you be a little loving. Even if it's...acting?"

Blaise couldn’t believe his luck when the women bounced out of the house like a wish come true. His luck was spot on today. When there eyes met for a split second he knew the game was on. He let her run giving her a head start, he had longer legs than she did and could cover more ground. What fun was it if it was instant. It have been a while since he had ran into anyone and he didn’t want it to be over quite that fast. As she grew smaller he rolled off of the building and skipped into a light run stalking behind her.

Atez smiled at him, sinking down against the wall she leaned again, "The last time I pretended, you became insulted. I am many things but I am not a mind reader for when you do and do not want me to do things with you." She closed her eyes for a moment, her mind was still filled with nightmares that she couldn't seem to shake off. Atez frowned, shifting uncomfortably.

Something felt wrong so Eleanor looked back, but she did not see anything, not at the moment at least. She turned sharply tunred around a building. She was nearing the place where she had last seen Torrence. After turning around a couple of more buildings she was there, but everyone was gone. She stopped, eyes wide as she whispered to herself, "Where are they?" Her left hand was quivering over the chain that laid around her, she didn't trust this. She didn't know where they had gone and she wasn't sure it was good.

Melik was staring again. It was something he did often, but hated to admit that he did.

Blushing, he looked away. "I...erm...a...." He was at a loss for words.

Smooth one. Real smooth.

Oh shut up! Not like you'd have done any better!

Ummm, yes. Her pants would be off.

Melik went silent.

Wow, you are just on a role.

"Why, so you can continue to insult me and try to seduce her? I won't allow it!"

"Seduce her? Nah, I was just going to take her pants off. That's all. I swear."

"What does that have to do with anything?"

"I was just stating a bad point about you. If I'm going to be the perverted half, you need to be the retarded half."

Melik went silent. "Yeah, sooooo, I'm just going to go bash my head in the corner over there, 'mkay? Buh-bye."

Walking over, he lifted his head and slowly started tapping it against the wall. "BAKA! BAKA! BAKA!"

Following her scent he turned the corner and jogged to a stop. Seriously? He wondered to himself, this luck thing was beginning to be a little freaky. He let his good eye scope the area, too much good luck was a bad thing he had learned. “Looking for your protector?” he taunted as he prowled forward. His arms loose at his side not at all giddy to get this over with. Sadly he did not her, he was pretty cute the thought made him chuckle to himself and a smirk crossed his marred face.
