Melik cocked his head at Atez. "Well, since I am your prey and all, I would hope you'd come protect me. We wouldn't want another hunter to get stronger from my blood." He looked at her from over his shoulder.

He knew something was off.

She seems paranoid. I suggest we stay close.

Oh, so now you're worried about her?

Tch, don't get cocky. I'm worried because you're worried.

Melik walked over to Atez. "Is something wrong?" He squatted down before her. "You seem... off."

Peering into the darkness, he saw nothing, and yet, he felt as though there were eyes watching him from beyond the grave. A chill ran down his spine.

Something is terribly wrong. I'm flipping us into a higher defensive mode.

Melik nodded lightly. "Atez... what is going on here. The air is thick enough to cut with a knife. Something is wrong. Now just what is it?" His eyes deepened in color. "I feel as though we're being watched...."

Stepping forward, Melik acted as if he was trying to shield Atez.

"Melik..." she repeated in a whisper, "Go back to your friends." her silver eyes seemed to be getting a little darker but she closed them before Melik could really see. "It's not a request, it's an order. Go and save them." Atez insisted, rather uncharacteristically.

Melik stepped back. He was slightly unsure what to do.

"Ummm, they don't need saving. They are fine." He hardly managed to get the words out. He knew something was wrong and it was killing him that she wouldn't share.

Taking another step back, Melik's eyes widened. With one foot hanging off the edge of the wall and his arms flailing, he lost his balance. Somewhat pissed at himself, he moved his arms over his chest. Now crossed, he waited as he fell toward the earth blow. Melik's eyes were shut as if he could sense where the ground was.

THUNK!

He landed on all fours. He rose and looked up to were Atez still was. He figured, since she didn't want him near her, that maybe he would remain on the ground. Somewhat bored, he circled the wall, waiting and listening. His hearing was extraordinary. If someone was up there with Atez, he would surely hear.

Atez opened her eyes after Melik disappeared over the edge. They had become entirely black, "Don't you dare harm him" she whispered.

"Don't tell me you actually care about someone" that deep male voice returned mockingly.

"You aren't the only one with plans, brother" she hissed as her fists clenched nervously, "and mine include him, so back off!"

A dark hand toyed with a lock of Zeta's hair, "plans sister? You couldn't plot your way out of a paper bag. You and your silly gift of voices..."

"It's better than your gift" she retorted sharply, "now leave me alone." she tried so hard to sound forceful, to not be the terrified little girl she appeared as.

Her brother just laughed at her softly, "Not until I've taken everything I need from you..."

Zeta jumped to her feet, turning on the darkness that had crept so close. "You'd kill me?! Find someone else!" she demanded fearfully. A chill ran down her spine, that had been the wrong thing to say-but what else could she have done? She could feel his eyes narrow upon her through the dark and she started to back away. "b-brother..."

The darkness reached out and Zeta soon found herself being hurled through the air with incredible force. A scream burst from her lips as the pavement of the street below came rushing up quickly.

Subconsciously, Melik eyes adverted to were the screaming came from. Recognizing it, his body moved on its own.

"Oof," he moaned as he caught the girl in a somewhat graceful manner.

For a moment he lost himself, as the thought of seducing her in this weakened state crossed his mind. However, he found the will to fight the desire off. Pulling himself away from Atez, he pinned himself to a wall. His greedy way taunted him as his inner demon represented the sin of greed.

His hands were contorted as he fought himself against the wall. A vision danced in his mind. The last time he'd lost to his demonic side, Melik ended his own life.

Prying out a knife, his muscles continued to flex and fight back. Finally placing the blade at his neck, he psychotically yelled out, "DO YOU THINK YOU HAVE WON! I WILL KILL MYSELF BEFORE I LOSE MYSELF TO YOU! HA HA! HA HA HA!" He had finally cracked, the cutesy childish style he once was seemed to peel off. Beneath that loving mask, was a monster. A sinner.

A small cut was made on his neck. Melik felt the blood slowly ooze out of the opening, and felt his demonic side start to subside.

Panting deeply, he stumbled over to Atez. He lifted her up with one arm. "Do NOT ever show me a weakness like that again." He tossed the broken girl aside. "You have no idea what I wanted to do to you." His eyes were greedy for power and lust. Had he lost himself to his greedy side, Atez would have been overpowered, manipulated, raped, and then robbed of everything she had.

Melik finally collected himself and his softer self came back. "I-I'm sorry." He looked at her with passionate eyes. "So, I heard you say something about a brother... and that you're using me for your own plans." He stepped back and sat down on a post beside him. "Care to explain any? Because you're clearly not using me for anything that will benefit me."

Even though his eyes were the large cheery ones, his sinful side seemed to be dancing around within them. From time to time, a bright flash of crimson would emerge as it was greedy and needed to be fed.

Atez gasped at a much softer larding than expected. Her heart was racing at first she didn't even see Melik and then she looked up to spot him bleeding from the neck. She stared at him a moment, show no weakness? she certainly had not meant to! Zeta's mind was reeling, her brother was not only alive but loose in the world. This was bad news for all races, he could be any where, anywhere within the shadows.

Taking a deep breath she stood. "Melik" she whispered "I can't go into this now but we have to work quickly If you want you and your friends to live, we have to get them out of here before my brother gets them." zeta glanced around, "don't get me wrong, I don't care about them, what I care is whether or not my brother drains them dry"

"What's with all this 'we' talk?" He continued sitting on his post. "What makes you think that I'll help you out? I mean, just what do I get from helping you out?" His tone was harsh and heartless. "You don't care about them, you just want to drink their liquids... to steal away their strength and make them suffer? How can I let you do that? How can I turn my back on them by siding with you?"

He jumped off the post and now stood before her. "Don't try playing the hero when you are nowhere near one. I don't play the hero because I will never be one. I just play the role of a friend. You are not a friend. Never will be. They hate you, and now, because of you, they hate me."

Melik looked up toward the sky. "So much for a romantic night, eh?" He glanced back over at Atez. "Don't get me wrong, I still love you wholeheartedly, but... they don't need your help nor do they want it. Tch, I'm not even sure if I want your help either. I was... so looking forward to getting to know you better, and now... you've seemed to have lost your spark. Your edge."

He walked off toward his friends. "Perhaps our paths will cross another time... in another life. But on this road right now, I'm just trying to find my way back home. But... my home is dead and gone so I guess I'm just a wandering soul." His eyes were lifeless. "I've been dead for years now. I should have never been resurrected. I never wanted a second life. I loved my first life. My... my only life." He stopped as if he was waiting for Atez to follow.

(( There, I hope my last post made sense. And as far as the other character I wanna bring in... hmmmmm. We'll see. XD ))

Atez frowned, she reached out to grab Melik's arm to stop him, "Why does it have to matter why I want to help people? Or why I may be kind to you? Do you not ever accept something simply because it is there?" she eyed him carefully, her face was as emotionless as she could force it to be and her silver eyes were like stone, but her heart beat was something she couldn't control, it was pounding in her chest like a mad man trying to escape. She wasn't sure if it was fear of her brother, adrenaline at everything that was going on or... well no, it couldn't possibly be anything else.

Frowning, Melik pulled away from Atez. He closed his eyes and ran off into the darkness. He finally stopped when he was back with Eleanor, Torrence, and the vampire-like hunter.

His cheeks were stained with tears of both sorrow and pain. His heart was hardly beating now. Heartbroken and upset with himself, he turned to the hunter.

"Leave..." he said in a monotone voice. "If you do no go, I will have no choice but to fight you." He looked over his shoulder at Torrence and Eleanor.

It was finally starting to become clear to him who he really was - a nobody. He had no friends and he didn't have a lover. And yet, there he stood protecting and defending people he cared deeply about. This lack of devotion and love ripped apart his soul.

Right then and there, he was more than ready to end his life. Stepping up to the hunter unarmed, he looked death in the eyes. "Heh, so this is the end for me," a smile came to his sad face. "There is the light... and maybe... maybe this time I can finally put this lost soul of mine to rest."

Melik laughed some. "I'll die saving you two. It... it fits me. For all the sins I've done... especially greed... I shall finally be at ease."

(( I have a plan for how to introduce my second character, but I need Melik's life to be in danger. So would someone almost kill him. Get to the part were he/she is about to drain away his energy (whether by drinking his blood or actually killing him) and then pause. Not sure which character I want to use... but I think I know. We'll see how this all plays out. XD ))
