Melik looked over at Torrence. His eyes said it all. They were full of sorrow and disappointment.

"Torrence," his head hung down low, "you don't understand. I have not betrayed you. Nor have a done anything to hurt you. I shall still fight along side you and I shall still protect you. But, if you cross blades with this hunter here, then I will have no choice but to attack you. I will not kill you. You are a dear friend of mine that I care deeply for. But I can't let you attack someone because of what they did to you in the past. Perhaps, I'm a fool to trust this hunter, but she reminds me of the very woman that I lived for."

Melik turned back around to look Zeta in the eyes. "You know where I stand with you." He smiled.

His voice was strong and very determined. "I don't want to fight either party, but..." a darkness shown in his eyes, "if I must, I will turn on you all and I will fight for the darkness." A deep laugh escaped his mouth. "You see, I too am corrupt by darkness, but, I can control this evil within me."

Melik turned to Torrence. "Will you let us leave in peace, or must I figure out a way not to hurt any of you?"

((Sweety she already left the cafe... She let them be in peace. ill edit so it works out))

Torrence stopped to listen to him. Her head was down as she faced the door she was at. Finally she turned around in a fit of rage. "You are a fool." She started waving her hands around in the rage as she spoke, slowly inching towards him in furry. "You think she loves you back? Huh? She wants to kill you for immortality. She wants to kill our kind for immortality and your expecting me to sit back and watch you die because your in LOVE WITH HER?! Wake up. Shes not the woman you loved. She never was. You cant fight along side me if you fight along side one of them. SHES MAKING A FOOL OF YOU AND YET she hasnt done anything but taunt and almost take a sip of your blood."

Torrence started to calm down a little bit more. "I have already let you go in peace as you wish it. IF you wish to side with someone like her then there is no choice but to make all of us fight against you even though if you stay with her you will die."

Torrence turned around and walked back to the door. She stopped again when she got there. "You are my good friend but you have lost me if you side with her." She wasnt even looking at him as she spoke. "You have betrayed me and our family. Oh and that Darkness your feeling. Thats not you... Thats your revenge taking hold. Believe me i know" With that she walked out of the cafe hoping that Eleanor was just as disappointed. Torrence had never really talked much until now. Her rage was being fueled more and more while he had talked. There was no point of letting him keep what he had left with her. Why he had done it was unclear to her. Love for someone who wants to kill you is something you dont usually get. His betrayal had hurt her and she felt like crying but she couldnt. She still wasnt far from the door hoping Eleanor was coming with her.

Melik could only laugh.

"Revenge? Revenge for what? Are you blind? Can you not see that I am no hero. Hell, I've practically soul my soul to the devil himself. I'm not a good person."

Melik calmed himself down and took Zeta's hand. "If she wants to kill me, then she can. But I have chosen her to be mine. Yes, I know she is not my Pyrita. But... she reminds me of her in so many ways. Perhaps this is Pyrita's doing. Guiding me toward this hunter." Melik looked into the sun. "She was my Sun Goddess after all," he added.

He swung back around to Torrence's direction. He cocked his head and watched as the door closed behind her. "She's a fool." He looked back at the hunter. "I'll either die by your blade or by hers. In the end, I lose to someone that I care about." Laughing, he finished with "There couldn't be a more magnificent way to die."

Melik looked at the sun again. "So, miss hunter, what are you going to do? It looks like my friends don't care if you drink my blood. And my wrist still hurts. So will you help me by allowing me to help you? Or are you really going to leave me?" He frowned slightly.

((wow.... He really thought that she didnt care.. ah man he got everything backwards))

((He's being hardcore emo right now. So he's just ignoring everything and kinda doing his own thing. lol))

Adonia shrugged as they were shown to their seats in the sushi bar. "He did a little bit." She tried to smile but instead a frown crept onto her face. "It's just, if what he said was true than I have been living a lie believing that I'm happy and enjoy my job. I never felt that I was trapped or anything." She slid into the booth and crossed her ankles, very lady like of her but was really to stop herself from shaking, it didn't last long as she uncrossed them soon after and sat comfortably.

"I'm sorry." she said smiling again, waving a hand absently as if to dismiss the subject. "I'm sure you don't want to hear about any of that."

((Hey guys. I've just got time for a little posting. One thing I'd like to point out is that it takes something very sharp with a lot of power behind it to hurt this other race. It's described that few modern weapons can harm them in the beginning so I would imagine something like a shot gun could penetrate their skin but a blade? Maybe a blade with the strength of a protector behind it...
Sorry, I'm not trying to be overpowered or anything, I was just under the impression it took more than that.))


Zeta watched their little conversation curiously, allowing Melik to stand between herself and this other human. She chuckled with amusement at their bickering, there was such drama between these primitive apes. They were so run by their emotions it was pitiful really, especially this Malik fellow. He really thought that he loved her but Zeta knew well that she was above such weak emotion. Still, it certainly made things interesting, a human offering himself to her? This was something she could get used to.

Finally she gripped Melik's wrist firmly, her cold breath tickled across his skin as her tongue snaked along Melik's arm. Her eyes began to lose focus as a savage side suddenly took over. She bit his wrist around the wound, holding the source of blood close. The taste of blood filled her mouth and trickled down her throat. Zeta cringed at the metallic taste. Her race was not meant to consume human blood, in truth it was rather toxic normally. However this genetic code seemed to override that toxicity, too bad it did make it taste good.

Zeta took several large gulps of blood before pulling sharply away. She stumbled into her chair and doubled over in pain. She just had to wait it out now, wait for the toxins to disperse and then she could have her power.

((I thought it only took more of that if they had drank that blood of a subject... or at least thats the assumption she gave us... besides i didnt say how big the cut was))

Another race was declared responsible. They could practically ingest the gene through consumption of the bodily fluids of those with said gene. When this race ingests this gene, they gain full invulnerability from modern day weapons as well as gained abilities and strength.

Melik winced as Zeta drank his blood. But he was smiling.

Once she was finished, he watched her fall down. He bent over and stroked her hair. Glancing outside, he saw Torrence and beyond her were several officers.

He growled. Melik was in no condition to preform what he was about to do.

Melik picked up the hunter and, with the last bits of his energy, the two vanished.

Crap. Melik thought to himself as he felt his power drain from him. He had moved them far, but they weren't on the ground. He tried his best, but he lost control.

THUD.

He looked up only to be crushed by the hunter.

"Oof," he panted as she fell on him. He looked up and pushed her hair back. "How are you?"

Melik laid his head back down on the sand. He looked about. He felt something trickle down his temple. He frowned. "I'm bleeding again, aren't I?" He pushed up, feeling her body against his own.

With the last bit of his strength he questioned her. "Do I amuse you? Am I making your life more interesting? Or do you... maybe... lik-," he paused out.

His body fell back and laid there hopelessly. He looked so petite and fragile just laying there. His rusty-colored hair blended in with the sandy ground. He looked so weak, and yet at the same time, he looked strong.

((O.O Oh no! My words are being used for war XD Nah, just messin'. Hmm, I didn't cover blades... Oh darn XP Surprise me XD Though they aren't really modern weapons... I have no clue to that one ^^;; ))

Eleanor had been in shock by all that had been going on. She had been willing to give the group a shot and this is what happened. "What have you done," she whispered as the creature took in Melik's blood. "You've pretty much killed all of us," she said as she quickly turned and ran to catch up with Torrnence outside. She seemed to be the safest person around.

"Hey," she called out when she saw the familiar blue hair. "Please, wait up!" She finished as she continued to make her way through the crowds. She knew of the danger that Melik had put them in on that one. It was because of another subject practically being devoured by the hunters that Arrow had been killed. She didn't want to see what they could do against subjects when they were all juiced up.

Torrence turned around from the shouts of her name being called out through the crowd. Eleanor was running up to her. Melik on the other hand was not. He had chosen his fate it seemed. He had let the woman take his blood. Great just great. We are all in a higher risk of danger. "Im sorry i didnt agree with you Eleanor. It would have been better seeing how he just gave himself up so freely. I also wanted to say i was sorry for my reaction back there." She stopped talking as her shyness started to kick in. She turned back to where she was walking. Still as angry as ever but shy none the less. She had never reallydone what she had just done before. She decided she would keep talking if wasnt looking at her. "He just made me so angry... How can a subject willingly give up his blood when he knows what the other race can do with it? When he said he would protect us. He just endangered us more than he knows and for what. For a love which that creature would not give back?" She turned back to the girl. "Im sorry for my ranting. Lets just get some rest for now."

Eleanor shook her head when Torrence quieted down again. "At least you reacted. I just stood there, useless," she said disgusted at herself. She then quieted down again as the girl started talking. It almost seemed awkward for her to be talking, like she didn't like doing it much around people. She nodded at the rest part, that seemed like a good idea, at least finding a place to rest that was safe enough.

"I don't think he knows what he's doing," she said as she walked beside her, hopefully, new friend. "He had no idea as to what he was. I don't know though. Maybe what happened to us is still to fresh in our minds or something. I don't believe that the race can't love back. I mean, our protectors cared for us right?" She had to quickly add that last comment as to not lead to any questions. It was wrong, and if the government ever found out, well, Eleanor didn't know what would happen.

((And I am still passed out. xD Also, Melik slipped that ring back in Eleanor's pocket. Oh, and I feel I should tell this two you all, but Melik doesn't know anything about being a subject and whatnot as he left the office before he was given any information. Sadly, none of the characters know this, so keep assuming he's just a selfish fool. lol))

the same people that are going after the remaining test subjects are the only ones that can protect them because they are the only ones that can hurt one another.

XD not that I mean to start a war or anything but I'm not sure why the experiments even need protectors if they can defend themselves. Okay, I'm going to drop this now. You didn't really say how much it cut her and I thank you for not going that far; I just get a little touchy about things sometimes, sorry.))

Zeta looked around a little dizzily, her eyes focusing on Melik once again. They strayed over his unconscious form with a savage glint as the pain in her stomach began to steadily subside. She got to her feet, glancing back and forth down the little alley they had landed in. She smirked to herself, finally feeling free to have an open conversation with the person she had been silently communicating with before. "It's done. I can feel it working, the poison is being overpowered by this... genetic coding." she threw her head back and laughed, strangely enough her accent seemed to change.

Suddenly she stopped, a serious look immediately upon her face. Her accent also returned to normal, "This will still take a few minutes to run it's course through our body. Until such time that we can begin testing our new power, we should deal with this" she nudged Melik's form with her foot.

Suddenly she snickered again, "Oh let's kill him Atez, take the rest of his silly blood and toss him off a bridge! No one's going to miss another silly little human." she knelt, placing her sharp nails just above his slowly heartbeat.

"No" Atez hissed at her, "Be reasonable. We don't know everything about this yet, only rumors. What if we need another dose? We'll have to hunt down another project and we may not be so fortunate to find one without a protector next time."

"But I want to kill him!" Zeta whined to her other self, "He's just a useless warrior, we don't need-"

"We do need him." Atez removed her deadly nails from his throat and brushed a stray few hairs from Melik's face, "for now... his usefulness has not run out." she chuckles darkly, "and he thinks he is in love... I want to see how far we can push him... how long will his silly love last?"

"That sounds boring" Zeta groaned with a pout.

Atez shook her off and began bandaging Melik's injuries. "You would be nothing without me, so be silent and do as I say."

Atez finished fixing him up and then lifted Melik in her arms with surprising ease. A delighted grin touched her lips as she slipped off down the street to take Melik somewhere he could recover.

((They need protectors because if they can hurt them, it's not very much. Kinda like throwing sand in someone's eyes. It can be painful and irritating, but can also stun to give time to escape. In the long run, people of 'the race' are the only ones that can really do any meaningful or deadly harm ^^ Does that help?))

Torrence picked up on the little hint that Eleanor had dropped. She eyed her curriously. Did she just say that protectors were like the other race? And how could Melik not have known what he was doing? Hes a subject and all subject knew what happened to them after it happened and what to stay away from. "Tell me something. But first let me say this. I did not say that the race could not love, i said that she wouldnt love him. You could see it in her eyes that all she wanted was his blood but tell me this. How would you know if that race can love or not?" She looked at Eleanor, her newly found friend with eyes that seemed to have lost to many in their lifetime. "You dont have to answer i was just wondering.

Eleanor smiled sadly as she watched her feet hit the concrete ground below her. She then looked back to Torrence. She was going to go out on a limb and trust her, Arrow would want her too. He never liked how anti social she had become since he had met her and tried to get her to go out often. Usually to no avail. "I'll tell you," she said quietly. "Just when we're some place safe." She nodded agreeing with her words before asking, "So are we really going to the government building for help?"

Torrence looked back at her and smiled. "The government building was a cover. Its the only safe place these people wouldnt follow us to. So i lied but we can see if we can find a safe place somewhere nearby so as to be sure." She said. It was a funny buisiness the government building was hiding. There werent many other first generation subjects but some had died in the past and others had survived with out their protectors anylonger. She led Eleanor to a hotel building basically right on top of the government building. Most of the people there were subjects and protectors anyways but they were all in disquise not that it would help. She walked inside without even talking to the clerk and went up to a room that had been decorated for a teenager. She opened the door and held it open for Eleanor. "So how did you become part of this whole thing?"
