Naproxsyn was basically a livesaver for me because most people don't think of it really but when the others don't work for something small like a headache... but now that my roomate brought the mostly full bottle of asprin (which is now 1/3 full thanks to me) I figured I might as well go through all that before actually purchasing more medication.
How bad does it knock you out? For example, I do have Flexiril (you can look it up on wikipedia) as a muscle relaxant, but if i take it... it turns me into "Jell-O" where I cannot get out of bed and can accomplish a grand total of nothing. i'm not officially 'on' it but I still have some leftover pills as an ultra emergency backup. I am basically comitting to wasting a day if I take those... but at least I'm not in pain?
It has the same result for me as the one time I smoked weed. All I can do after it is sit somewhere, staring at one point. I don't have (a lot of) pain, but it doesn't feel good to me at all.
And: I have a very bad back and a shoulder that is messed up. For that, any other person would take painkillers.
SexualPlacebo: No, no, I'm not a ghost, but I do walk the line between the world of the living and the world of the dead on a few levels. ;) Does your name have anything to do with the band Placebo, or did you just pick it semi-randomly?
That sounds far more interesting than just the living. o:
Er, yeah, Placebo are like my favourite band, and I like the word itself. xD
I believe I've seen them twice as well. They have a 'cult following' in the states. Many of the goth and/or counter-culture types whom I enjoy seem to know of them. They can sell out a whole medium sized venue in San Francisco by themselves, and when they toured with She Wants Revenge because they were popular they were the ones that got promoted and the DJ made a special kind of 'shout out' to Placebo saying how they don't get enough love over here and actually played Pure Morning on the radio. It's the only song I've heard and I've heard it maybe three times (on the radio).
Sometimes people recognise "Every You, Every Me" from the beginning of the film Cruel Intentions and I had one person say "If all their songs sound like that I'd like them" and I wearily shook my head and backed away. Placebo have exeperimented with a wide range of songs and usually once every other CD there is a song I "don't like" and once every other CD there is a song I "tolerate" but they have an extremely high ratio.
Plus, the Gay Straight Alliance hangout has "Person of the Month" that often lasts more than months and I keep going in there and going "Brian Molko of Placebo!" XD
I am happy they finally won the European MTV award for Best Alternative, beating out Muse, the Prodigy, and a couple of other big names that got cut down due to youtube violations. It only took them fifteen years ;)
Kirin:: The band is called Placebo, but I have no clue who they are.
Crow:: In the GSA thread, the title/person of the month can't be changed because Thoth hasn't been on Mene in over a year, and he's the only one with the power to change it.
They started out as angsty glam rock, but then you'd have things along the way like Brian (lead singer) wearing dresses during the performances. One song was inspired a newspaper article with the title "Sex, Drugs, Fucking in the Streets!" it really is their only song that's closest to rap (blankingon the name, third track on black market music). But Brian just skips around on stage as if he's a little girl with a basket of flowers and candy going "SEX, DRUGS, FUCKING IN THE STREETS!"
The band has always been diverse in their sexual orientations. Brian is Bi.. he actually has a son with a woman with according to him he's 'practically married' but my guess is that it's more complicated than that.
Stefan the bassist is gay. One time when they were performing in country that was very anti-gay they shared a very slow, passionate kiss onstage and all of the fangirl comments on youtube were along the lines of "I wish my boyfriend would kiss me that way!"
And then Steve, the drummer, is straight. There's a new steve the drummer now, there was one that was with the band decades before him, one hand long black hair, this one has spiky blonde hair, but neverthelss you get two, straight Steve the drummers.
Aaaaand I just remembered the name of the song. It's "Spite and Malice". Not one of their key songs...

Here's a good starting point, and there are points within our wide variety of looks that Brian Molko and I are twins. This is the song that I've mentioned gets a tiny bit of radio play once in a blue moon... I'd recommend you click some of the other ones as well, either that or I'll have to throw them at you!
The song above is from their second album where they became a bit more 'refined'. On their debut and self titled CD, there IS a song that is basically about androgyny as "Nancy Boy" is (Englsh?) slang for a "Girly Boy" especially when you have lines like:
Quote:
does his makeup in his room; douse himself with cheap perfume
Right on Kirin! I can give you a bit of a discography if you're intersted, because some of the EPs and such were special and are out of print.
When I'm angsty and logic still has control, and limbic flooding hasn't switched over (that's my desire to cut, burn, have sucidial ideations) I have a "happy angst" song thanks to Placebo, I believe it's the second track on their first CD?
I jump on my bed and wish I was in a padded room and listen to this song on repeat about 10x or so:
Quote:
Sine I was born I've started to decay, now nothing ever, ever goes my way!
Also, a bit of clear up about the drummers... you might notice two blonde guys in this video. In the early days Stefan wasn't blad or very low buzz cut, he had blonde hair, as he did in the past two videos (bassist). There was a temporary third drummer (who wasn't a steve) who didn't get on with the band. For the first CD... he had bonde hair and you see him in this video. He was straight too. The funny thing is, the band REALLY wanted Steve! In "Nancy Boy" for they got him and his long brown hiar to play but they blurred out his face. Then by the second CD it was all sorted. "Original Steve" was with the band for over a decade.
PLACEBO is androgyny in a can. Or a band. And they rock.

Is anyone here familair with the character Captain Jack Harkness from Doctor Who then Torchwood fame?
Well, his trademark coat is currently in the post on its way to me right now >=)
Now I can stand on top of tall buildings and look cool.
He is "omnisexual" while I'm asexual, so I figure we're both so far on the extreme ends of the polarity that we overlap. He is also my favourite companion to The Doctor in the series.
