For all those films that deserved to be done again! Especially as so many remakes are totaly disgusting!

my fave is probably the charlie and the chocolate factory, which was basically a newer version of Willy wonka and the chocolate factory. (I found the guy who played Willy Wonka a bit scary in the first one...)

The Ring. I never saw the Japanese original though (but it's on my 'to watch' list!)

I would just like to say that I read on a site that Red Dawn is being remade and is coming out in December. I must say I am afraid. I digress, I liked Charlie and the chocolate factory better than the first, but it seemed like each one was missing an element the other one had from the other if you were trying to make it as close to the book as possible. Not many know, but there were 2 books, Charlie and the Chocolate factory, and Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator. I only skimmed the books in 5th grade, but I know that they were about of equal length and The Chocolate Factory ends right when Charlie is declaired the winner. The Great Glass Elevator had the extra stuff Tim Burton tacked on at the end of the remake. Generally, though, most remakes just turn out bad because of the need to make everything mainstream.

Ocean's Eleven, definitely. Such a fun movie and they revamped it nicely.
I can't even think of any others.

Ohh yeah! :D When first looking on this thread title I had thought 'Are they any?', but that's a fabulous example! I actually like the old and new version equally, I think. :) (Also, how can you not love Gene Wilder? :XD)

Hum, I did like the remake of Dawn of the Dead, but I also liked Quarantine which is the Americanized remake of a Spanish film called Rec.

I really liked the remake of Dawn of the Dead. I thought it was a very realistic slash awesome setting. I was kind of sad at the end that only four made it, but considering most zombie movies, most live people in it usually die and no one survives. So I'm guessing at the end the last four got killed on the island.

Well... I haven't seen it yet, but the Clash of the Titans coming out looks very promising.

@ Kole_Locke: Actually, I think the ending was pretty open ended. You could think that they'd died on the island, but you don't know for absolutely sure. I liked how it was implied that they were slaughtered, but you don't know for certain. They could have gotten away. ^^

I hear The Wizard of Oz is supposed to be remade and released sometime this year (2010). Not entirely sure if that's 100% accurate, but it's surely overdue... I just hope DESPERATELY that it's at least sub-par. :gonk:

Is there really going to be a Poltergeist remake? Wow.

I won't prejudge it, cause I really know nothing. But the first Poltergeist was a great movie and I can hope they don't make a lame remake.

...

Also I thought was odd. Kind of a remake, in a sense. But I read on Yahoo that a Speedy Gonzales live action/CG film is in production, with George Lopez as the voice of Speedy. ... I lol'd.

Or without Jonathan Brandis, even if he was just a kid in the movie.
