Back in the day I used to known some Cirque Du Soleil people. I dunno if it is across the board but, they are tight-knit people and they were really snobby. Back after I was done with high school, I was introduced to some folks through some friends and they wanted me to come do some lighting for them after seeing my portfolio. I spent a few weekends with them and said to myself "fuck it. These people are ass faces." I kinda regret it but at the same time, I don't. I don't want to hang out with jerks.

From what I have heard, lots of Cirque people are snobby. I do love their shows though. Seeing them live is way better than on TV.

Erik, I bet you could get it again.. I've not done this for long enough to forget it, though I couldn't do poi for a couple of months because of my ankle, and I felt like I'd forgotten it all but when I started again I was pretty quick to remember everything I'd learned.
I dunno how to get in touch with circus people really, but juggling groups shouldn't be hard to find, and that's at least a start. Like I said, if there's a juggling store anywhere nearby, go there and see if they know of any. :B

Rhum, that's too bad.. I guess it's because they are really popular and stuff, I can imagine that'll change the way you act around strangers. Also they have been working together for quite long. The circus here isn't that old and though they're all friends already, they're open to new people because they want more people to join them - the more the merrier. I thought the juggling groups in London were a bit more closed actually, but I went there with friends which made it easier. I went on my own to the circus thing.

I made a thread in the general discussion not long ago and there are a few people there that do stuff, so I'm hoping to find more and make a proper hangout once the event is over. :)

I haven't actually been to see a circus in yeeeeaaaaars.. I hope the group I'm practicing with is doing some shows before I go back to London!

I used to be a really good juggler and then I stopped and it seems I cannot do it anymore. I'd love to do it again though but, I have school, my banjo, work and now I am starting to belly dance again. Maybe when I am not working full time.

Right now, I am TRYING to save to take some acrobatic classes. It's something I have always wanted to do and there is a place out here that will teach me provided I pay them their fee. -_-

Seriously, though, despite my disappointment, I can't say I'm surprised. I imagine it's pretty clique-ish too. They practice like 18 hours a day, and get Sundays off, too, so I imagine everyone's always grumpy in the first place. Oy.

Ah well, I'll just hang out with cool people. XD
Speaking of which, I'm hella trying to make friends with this one artist, purely because I adore his art, he's attractive, and we're both into creepy shit. Is that shallow of me? I don't even know how he acts. XDD

The weather is gorgeous and yet, everyone is planted in front of the TV to watch the football.. wtf. I managed to get a hold of a couple of friends though who are going to go outside with me to chill. We're going to have Tequila Sunrises in the sunset in the park. 8D

Edit: Erik: Of course not. There has to be something to draw you in at first, so that you start getting to know someone.. you can never know beforehand what kind of person they are. If that makes sense.

I know the problem, when you're trying to get to know someone you hold in awe. Just you wait, you'll find out soon enough he's just like us. Always happens when I muster up the courage to talk to someone I think seems so confident and perfect. Usually they've been thinking the same about me, so we end up at a mutual respect level, which is perfect. :)

I went to my cousin's birthday thing today, otherwise I've just been outside in the sun, mostly juggling and reading a bit. And making fun at the World Cup with my mum.. my friend is coming over in an hour or so and we're going to get some ice cream, then I'm going to meet a couple of other people and I dunno. Tequila Sunrises hopefully. : D

It's this amazing artist, Axel Torvenius, I think from Sweden. He's just incredible. And he collects all these amazing things that I'd collect if I had two cents to rub together, and listens to extremely good music. And he's attractive.
There's this issue with trying to talk to artists that I really admire. My art isn't particularly impressive, and the stuff I've posted online is not very good at all, at least when compared to the people I'd like to talk to. I just feel like maybe when these artists see me talking to them and asking them about their technique, etc., maybe they feel like I'm just trying to weasel my way into their lives so that I can be friends with someone who is really talented. They do get that sort of thing, though, so it's understandable. It's just still frustrating, especially when all these amazing artists are friends with amazing artists. I think my skills improved soooo much faster when I was friends with someone who drew constantly.
I'm rambling. I love art. So much. XP

Yeah, I try to be friends anyway. It worked once back in middle school, and the artist was like 20 and she ended up being really stupid, so I stopped talking to her. Haven't tried since then until now. Augh, why is he so cool! *headdesk*
