Animal abuse makes me raaaage. Some people are just so careless about living creatures, like they don't matter because they aren't people. And it makes me angry.
Awhile back, a friend of mine had a boyfriend who abandoned a dog. Apparently it was a puppy and he wanted to get rid of it, so she convinced him to drive it down to a local shelter. Halfway through I guess the dog threw up in the car, and so he pulled off to the side of the road and just left it there. On the side of the road. -___-
If he were there when I heard that, I would've killed him. Seriously.
I contemplated calling the police for a little while, but by the time the story got to me it wouldn't have helped the dog anyway. Hopefully someone picked the poor thing up and at least took it to a shelter D:
I guess the most you can do to help those dogs is leave them some food when you can, if there is no shelter. You can at least make sure they have water, though... water is free :D

I have a million animals, but god do I love them all. I have a lovebird, a military macaw, 2 parrotlets, 8 parakeets, 4 cockatiels- 2 that i rescued, 3 canaries, 2 ferrets, 2 german sheppards, 2 poodles, 8 collies, 13 puppies, lots of fish and frogs... I even love my pet dead possum, Cygnus unconditionally. I treat even dead animals with care and respect... maybe its just the Native American in me.
Do you live in in the U.S., and if so- in the south? Alot of people I have talked to in the south don't believe in animal rights... it's funny how in most movies of the south they glorify these cowboys who usually always have these trusty dogs by their side and these loving horses... my mum grew up in Alabama and a bunch of people where she grew up would just shoot their animals for game... a dog was just a dog to her family except her and her mother.
Then we have the other extreme- P.E.T.A. ...my animals- Chicken, Ducky, Bueno, Persephone, Lily- these 5 little birds, they are my children- i can't sleep without telling them i love them every night and givin them all a big smooch on the beak...
P.E.T.A. is all about "animal rights" but nobody ever hears about all the stupid crap they've done such as going to dog shows and letting out hundreds of dogs that at least 80% of them got run over, died of starvation, or preyed upon and killed within a few days later. reeeeal smart peta... :|
and yeah, I've been to dog shows, I've seen some pretty aweful and strict owners out there, but not too many, and I know all the gossip in the Collie world because I belong to Collie rescue. The other owners are probably the most loving, smothering obsessive dog owners you can imagine, and it's a beautiful thing to see how much those groomers and handlers do for their dogs, whether its buying them a million toys and beds they don't need, or the best dog foods for their health, its just nice
Animal cops on the other hand, they do their job, but unfortunately southern and western U.S. doesn't really have animal laws... X_X

I agree to this. Just the other night, I saw a dead cat laying on the road...it made me really upset.
And everytime I see that ACPPA comercial, I start to cry.

I'm and animal lover and I'm friends with lots of Rescues via Facebook... its horrible what some people can do to them :( I have one dog that I love with all my heart and honestly view her more like my daughter than a pet. I give her all the time I can and I always always ALWAYS make sure she has food and water. Which on more than one occasion meant i would go without a meal or two. but its ok :) she pays me back with the purest loyalty and devotion imaginable!
I don't get how people can let their animals go without food or love... its so cruel :(

When I think about animals being abused and neglected, it makes me feel so ashamed. Humans regard themselves as the highest, most important life form. Which ticks me off >.< The animals did nothing to deserve how they are treated. They can't fend for themselves or fight back, because if they do they get put to sleep for being violent or dangerous. It is so WRONG. Humans don't get put to sleep because we fight back against other people and/or against animals when we get attacked. A good example, I think, is say you accidentally stepped into an area where a mother bear and her cubs lived. The cubs are asleep, and the mama bear is there. She mauls you. This isn't HER fault. She shouldn't get put to sleep for this. If anything, it is the person's fault because the mama bear is simply defending her young. Every time I see a stray animal, I feel horrid. Many times I've convinced my mom to pull over so we could take it to a shelter or adopt it. I hate it when people just leave animals out on highways because they are too irresponsible/or not able to take care of them. If you knew you wouldn't be able to feed and provide for that animal, why would you get it? It's the same as having a kid. If you know you can't proivde for that baby, don't have sex! Sorry, I just get so angry about animal abuse. DX

We have an obnoxious dog next door... he gets fed be he's annoying as hell... I don't think someone should OWN a dog if they're busy all day... they require too much attention and if you leave them alone they harass everyone ELSE.

I hate animal abusers with a passion. You might think me wicked, but I feel as though an animal abuser, by law, should recieve the same abuse that they put upon the animal, no matter how bad the abuse was. People really need to realize that Animals are people to. The feel pain and love. They know what happiness and sadness is. The reality is, they are the closest thing we have to God because of how pure and innocent they are. These mean animals you see that bite and nip arn't that way because they want to be, they are that way because they were taught to be by an equaly aggressive owner. If I ever were to come face to face with somone who was abusing an animal I would be the living hell out of them.

I totally agree with you! Just like you said if you can't afford to take care of yourself, what makes you think you can take care of an animal as well. Same thing with children, it's ridiculous. I've never abused an animal. Any time I see a dead animal on the road it makes me so sad. Oh and that commercial on tv! I can't watch it >.< It makes me cry! Especially the one with the Sarah McGlaughlin (sp?) song "In the Arms of an Angel" in it, that one really gets me.

I really don't understand the purpose of having a pet if you are just going to neglect it, why don't they just leave it and let it go to another family?
Like we have dogs, and when we are not home we put them in the pen outside, but it's like nicely furnished for them. They have like a food and water dispenser, and they have their own dog houses, toys, it's also connected to a shed where they can get out of the sun/cold. And if they are outside in winter time, we put heat lamps and extra bedding in their shed and doghouses to keep them warm when they are not around.

its so sad the way people treat each other let alone poor defenseless animals. The fact that those dogs of your neighbors get played with at all is more than some get. But I know how you feel. I cant watch those animal rescue shows on Animal Planet anymore it just chokes me up to much.
We just took in two little dogs that were abandoned. The little puppy we just got was left off by someone at a local gas station my aunt frequents. She saw the poor little guy and heard how he was abandoned and her heart melted. He has been the most amazing little thing since he came here and he is extremely lovable and affectionate. I just cant fathom how some jerkface could throw up such an amazing animal. I know probably 10 people who would take him off our hands in a heartbeat because he is so sweet. There is absolutely NO need for someone to have thrown him out like that.

Animal abuse makes me so mad. I stopped watching Animal Cops a long time ago because seeing the shape the poor rescued animals were in made me sick to my stomach. I'm no advocate for them, but I do believe that they feel pain, just like humans. When they're neglected or abused in any way, they feel it.
I've never understood why people buy or adopt animals just to treat them so bad. It's something I'll never understand, but at least there's people who are willing to give the animals a second chance and give the animals what they really deserve: love and care.
