Oh, you have to hit the "Toggle Eyes" button above the eye choices.
It's used for if you need to remove eyes to make equipped contacts look alright. :)

That make a lot of sense, I understand what you mean. In some ways it is better then Gaia, for example - I like the avatars here more. But both have their good points.
