This is a good place to post tips on good ways to learn about Menewsha. Switching from Gaia to Menewsha (at least for me) seems like a big difference. The games are different (but better than Gaia) and there are better ways to make money. If there is anything you can say or offer on how to make the transition more smooth for noobs (LIKE ME :) ) Then feel free to post. KEEP IT APPROPRIATE. FOLLOW ALL OF THE SITE RULES ACCORDINGLY. THIS IS ALSO A GOOD PLACE TO START ADDING FRIENDS!

----------

One thing that was a bit awkward for me was gaining money. It's still taking me awhile to learn the best ways. I know right now that sounds a bit greedy, but any new person probably knows how this feels. My experience so far has been good, but a bit awkward especially coming from Gaia. What I like is that Menewsha is not as laggy and full of glitches. The security on the site seems to be more stable as far as connecting and disconnecting.

I know what you mean about the gold thing, it is so much easier to get gold on Gaia. This is really a challenge, it really chanllenges people to get involved in the community if they want to hurry up and cover their underwear. I'm actually still a part of Gaia as well. What made you make the switch?

Just going to keep going on my thoughts here...jump in at any time.

Good Things:

-quicker and faster hair/eyes/body/avatar/eyebrow/ear/mouth selection and you don't have to PAY to switch the color or the style.
-avatars show up more clearly than the ones on Gaia.
-switching between tabs on the toolbar goes faster.
-there are more ways to express yourself. Gaia has many ways, but Menewsha has way more options.
-Signing up for Menewsha was really easy.

I switched because I saw the ad on TekTek. :) That's probably how a lot of people found out. I am also still on Gaia and return to it occasionally to check things out. You're definitely right about covering underwear! lol that was one of the first things I noticed.

I actually saw the ad on Facebook and thought it would be fun to check out. The avatars do show up quicker and I like that you don't have to pay to change your hair style and stuff. I like the community, there always seems to be different things going on around the forums.

^^ I jumped from Gaia over the Mene back around '07, though before even that I wasn't on Gaia as much as I was in '03 - '04.

Some perks you'll notice by way of comparison:
- There is less drama. I don't mean to say there is no drama, because this is a forum and there are people on it, so that's inevitable. But it's not like Gaia where you really have to search for that little niche that doesn't have it.
- The community is much closer knit. It's always been that way given it's a much smaller one, you you tend to bump into a lot of the same people if you hang around a given area of the site. But it's still pretty easy to branch out and make friends if you switch up your forum uses.
- While the gold may be harder to earn, the prices of items are extraordinarily less than most of Gaia's and I personally find are worth more as a result. Not to mention, the quality of the pixels are better and more unique than those of Gaia's. There isn't an item on the site that, if you don't work hard be it saving or questing that you can't get. A few are very difficult to find sellers for, but it's still do-able to earn them.
- The staff is far more involved here on Mene. You can actually see them posting around al the way up to and including our site administrator. They do a lot for their users, including but not limited to the Giving Back Auctions that help newer users obtain older CIs that are more difficult to get.

And that's really just the tip of the iceberg on differences. ^^

Hi, I'm from Gaia too. Nice to meet you. Yeah Mene is totally different from Gaia.... Aside from the avi/forum thing of coarse.... lol. But yeah it is so hard to get gold.... I hate being nakkie in a boring way.... lol. I've been on Gaia since 04 so needless to say I have a few items. But I find the people on gaia seem to be becoming less and less mature, or maybe I'm just growing up. Not sure.

Well, signing up here means going back to the basic concept of foruming I guess =D
Which is more discussions, less demand for gold hunting.
(But I still need some to at least make my avvy look decent =P)

I'm new here as well and like you guys, I hail from Gaia.
But I didn't come here because I was bored of Gaia or anything.
I just like signing up for various forums that catches my eye and interest =D

YES! I love foruming :) I've gotten more and more into it lately, and I also love to write.

Another few things that might help make your transition from Gaia to Menewsha easier...

- Don't be shy. :)
By and large, our userbase is friendly and helpful. They want to make friends, have interesting conversations, and get to know you. So don't be shy about jumping into conversation. Unless it's a Private RPG, everything's pretty much fair game or even eagerly looking for people to join in the conversation. :) When in doubt, read the first post of a thread. If it doesn't say something like, "planning committee only!" (which is really rare anyway), you're invited. ;)

- Read stickies!
The threads that are "stuck" to the tops of the forums have good things in them that'll help you find your way around. :) It'll have things like tips for using that specific forum/what sort of threads belong in that forum. Or it'll have fun things for you to participate in. (Like games during events or raffles or contests for free things.)

- Try different forums.
Sometimes it takes a while to figure out where your "niche" is. Maybe you're secretly an Exchanger at heart, having fun buying, selling and trading items and talking with people who like to buy/sell/trade also. Or maybe avatar creation is really your forte, and you're meant to hang out mostly in the Avatar Chat forum and participate in the costume contests and make friends there. Maybe your thing is role-playing and you just need to find or create that perfect rpg that'll make you enjoy logging in every day. Or perhaps it's Charities for you, hanging around all those people who like to give and want to give and whether you accept their help or not, the supportive nature of the Charities forum is very attractive.

Once you figure out where you "click" on Menewsha, gold starts pouring in as you get involved chatting with the users that mesh best with you. I used to make between 200 and 300 gold a day purely from chatting. (And often, I still do if I'm not too busy doing things behind the scenes. D: )

And, hey - there's nothing wrong with being a forum-hopper who is "everywhere" on Menewsha. ;) It just means you meet more of our users. :)

- Stick around....
You never know what we're going to come up with. Maybe some new feature will help you out or make the site suddenly a lot more interesting for you. Maybe you just need to experience one of our events. I wasn't sure about Menewsha until I experienced my first event (Halloween 2007). After that I was hooked and, well. You never know where you'll go. Now I'm in charge of event creation.

Thank you! This is the exact type of feedback I was hoping for. I know there are probably a lot of other forums explaining tips and tricks. I just thought this could be on a more personal basis. I feel like if we really get down to each person's feelings we can learn more and help more.

Totally agree with you all the way! I just started and switched from Gaia. It's very difficult earning money. Though I play the games, so slowly I'm getting the hang of this. Like this site a lot. :))) Quick question... which items inflate?

I'm not sure yet because I also just started. I think if an administrator sees your question, they can answer for you better than I could.

but it might be in the FAQ section (i don't know where that is yet) lol.... there's still so much on this site to find

The worst item inflation is the early 07 items. Some of them are worth anywhere from 400,000-1,000,000 gold

The Menewsha Price Guide will give you an idea of what items are the most expensive.
