That is good to hear. I have had better weeks but my writing is keeping my mind off of things pretty well. I am 1-2 paragraphs away from finishing this first chapter.

Mum rang up centerlink (department of human services) this morning to see if she could get any money for me still living with her, but apparently not. Some crap about there being a loophole for the situation i'm in, where i've just finished year 12, don't have a job and don't go to some sort of other schooling. So then she walked down to my room and told me to get a job. Sure, she makes it sound so fucking easy. The problem with getting a job is that Australia has so many freaking immigrants that come into the country, get welfare payments, then go and get a job because they'll work for less than others. On the other hand, I've lived here my whole freaking life and can't get some money to do some sort of tertiary education.

I don't mean to be insulting to the immigrants, I can understand the reasons behind coming here, but I think there needs to be some sort of line between looking after people from another country and looking after people from your own.

I know what you mean, a lot of us Americans feel the same way about our job situation here. Along with a lot of our companies outsourcing to another country because of cheaper tax's and work rates. It's complete bullshit and sometimes parents/elders just dont understand how difficult it is for us to get a job these days because times really have changed. The world has become more demanding of us and with the economy being horseshit all around, competition is really fierce for a decent job.

It is. It's absolutely ridiculous. Sure, it sounds easy to get a job. Except that everywhere wants someone with experience. How the f*** am I supposed to get experience without having a job first? Hell, I don't even want a good job. Just a job to get mum and dad to shut up and leave me the **** alone.

Hell, I know someone who didn't have a job, lived with someone who paid for most of the stuff required to have a functioning house, and got paid a fair bit because he wasn't living at home. Then when he got a job for a couple of weeks, he neglected to mention that to centerlink, got the payment from them and the money he would get from his job too. I can't get anything because my parents earn too much, but not a single person can specify exactly how much 'too much' is.

Yeah, and the sad thing is that in this economy employers can be as selective as they want because they are so many applicants and people out looking for a job. My suggestion is to check out this site www.oDesk.com ~ and see if there is anything on there that you may be able to do. It's pretty easy work from home stuff. I use it as a sidelines job to my current one, but it might just be enough to help with your parents :P

Honestly, I'm going to start looking at stuff like that quite soon. I've reached the point where I'm looking at a job cleaning a place up on saturdays and sundays, which I could handle. Problem is that they want someone with experience doing so. If someone has experience in cleaning that kind of place, they probably wouldn't leave that job for anything less than a better job, so they probably won't find someone with experience.

Yeah, makes sense. I think its silly how some of the most basic jobs require at least 1+ years of experience. Its like really? :stare:

I am now stuck on the last two paragraphs for my story.
Probably because soon it will be done so the tension is building up.
