I leave my backdoor unlocked all the time. It doesn't lock properly. I also have a fence around my yard that keeps most people away though. I don't live in the best of neighborhoods but I don't worry about it too much.

That's just wrong. Is there any organizations that are promoting to bring this into public view? Sometimes some diseases get left in pigeon hold like that because there's a lack of advertising. I have to say, I honestly didn't know about it either. I'd say that it'd be a good idea to start a rally over it, like they do for cancer and diabetes.

Cysts are annoying buggers but they don't cause problems unless they're located in dangerous areas. My grandma died of it too. The cysts she had, had grown attached to her nervous system and internal organs. But the doctors kept telling her for years that it was all in her head and that there's nothing they could find wrong with her. Yes, there's a laser treatment for it. And no, it's not new. Patrick Swayze had it done persistently, while he was trying to stay alive. But the cancer came back for the third time? And he finally died from it.

And I'm sincerely sorry for your loss.

Oh. My mom died very quickly, I was never told the circumstances or what treatments she tried. I just know that one day she was there. One day she had yellow eyes...and then the next thing I knew she was laying on the couch covered in blankets...she joked about getting a wig, but the chemo didn't even have the time to make her hair all fall out. The cancer killed her before it had the chance.

Some...but mostly there is no money to be had to promote it or pay for the research. Most of the people with this disease end up unemployed and unable to work...only a few states recognize it as a legitimate disability...and at that you have to be at stage 3, and many people are already incapacitated at stage one...I'm almost one of those people...On days that I flare very badly, I can't even walk or move my arms. :( On a worse day, I can't move, and I'm bleeding out of my armpits and my groin, and can't go anywhere because I will bleed through bandaids and whatever clothes I'm wearing. Its humiliating and heart breaking. A lot of women in my support group make stickers and ribbons and other "gear" for it, but I'm so ashamed of my skin I don't want any of my friends IRL to know, because every time I try to talk to people about it they go "Is it contagious?!?!" and I feel like when I say no they don't believe me...
