It's ok everyone.. I've got it figured out now domage... dommage... means "shame" like "it's a shame" And that makes sense in the context that the word was being used in.

Taiyo: I was giving a tarot reading for a friend (whose own deck apparently hates him and only gives the worst case scenario in his readings). And this guy is prone to prophetic dreams as well as some rather abstract visions. Well, in this recurring dream, he's dreaming about a girl he hasn't met yet and he can never see her face. All he knows is that she's humming softly while putting dishes away in a blue kitchen. The frequency at which he has this dream is a little perturbing to him, so he had me do a reading on her. But when I laid out the cards it was ALL over the place. First off, a vague question of "who is this girl" when my deck in particular is best at short-term advice, is going to be hard to read because you're reading that person's whole life. Secondly, it occurred to me that the girl may represent a concept rather than a real person. Those two thoughts ended with:

"Its really hard to do a tarot reading for a whole person, let alone one that may or may not be corporeal."

And then there was laughter from the entire room of mediums because... well... we've all been there, but I was the first one apparently to put in such a blunt statement.

Tarot reading sounds pretty interesting. I'm prone to odd dreams. But for streaks there I dream things and then they somehow come to be in life, not things that I do but things that people say or do. It's like a really odd de-ja-vu when it happens. I wanna be read, or have my tarot cards placed out for me and told what it means. I've never had anything like that done. I think I might head down to new Orleans one weekend and find some of them old ladies that can do it, and make it seem super creepy and get the full experience of it. :shock: Yes.. I'll add that to my list. I've never been to N.O. Anyway. Should be filled with intrestest and the sounds of jazz music. I'll just go down old N. O. and see trumpet players and such.

@ Hyena: I've never done that. I've dont tarot readings on myself and my friends, and sometimes we've gotten some....weird results. For example, one of my friends was asking the same question twice, using the same deck, the same layout, and even the same method of shuffling and she got two completely opposite answers! How does that work...?

And on a side note, I'm creating my own tarot deck. I just need to figure out what all the cards I'm making are going to mean, as I've already gotten them all drawn and I'm a bit hesitant on transferring them to cards until I've got their meanings sorted out.

I feel a bit like I was leading him on that I believe that they can literally predict the future. While I do believe that they have something mystic about them, I feel like its more of a concentration method than a divinatory practice. I have gotten some very good results using it for divination (I predicted that my friend would be experiencing a very important distraction, and within the next hour he got a phone call from his mom about some trouble with his sister) but I don't use it strictly for those purposes. Sometimes a deck doesn't like you, or isn't candid. You can cleanse it a million times and it will still hate you.

I haven't really had too many problems, other than a lack of time to do readings. I most often look to my cards for advice rather than predicting the future.

Oi...the only way that would happen is if you were in a funky mood when you did a reading. What's the point of having tarot cards if you mom won't ever let you use them? Or do you use them, just where and when your mom can't see them?

she hid them pretty well so I haven't used them in 4 years

Whoa, I REALLY don't want to know what your aunt did to open a gateway to Hell. As long as you're careful, then I don't think that would happen. You've also got to know what you're doing when you use anything like a tarot deck or runes (like a friend of mine does). Though I can tell you for a fact that my mom has about half a dozen different tarot decks. Heck, there's even a series of Yu-Gi-Oh cards based off the major arcana of the tarot!
