'I told her to stay still!' he thought and rushed across the street, narrowly missing a few cars. The antagonist vampire hadn't noticed him yet and never got a chance to since he had a pocket knife pushed through his throat. He threw the corpse into the alleyway and then saw another going to surprise her from the front. He knew he would never get there in time so he had to take a chance. He flipped the knife to hold it by the blade end. Then putting all his trust into his throwing arm and let the knife fly. It seared through the air and flew through the grooves of the handle to give the flying knife a screaming sound before it flew inches from Katie's head to stab the other attacker in his right eye, killing him.

Katie screamed and turned seeing Pure had thrown the dagger.She stepped back away from the dead man..only to see another."Whats going on..?"She asked,Pure..how had he just miraculously been here to save her.She shivered from being scared and felt the moonlight hitting her tear streaked face.

Pure's face went from a battle glare, back to it's relaxed smile. "That's why I worried about you being out after dark. These streets aren't safe." 'Maybe she doesn't think I'm a Vampire. She would have run away by now,' he thought to himself. He walked closer to her and wiped the tears from her face. "What did you come out here to get?" he asked, noticing the tightly clenched money in her hands. He didn't mean to scare her, but it was either a little startle, or death.

She shivered,how had he talked to her in her mind?At first she thought she was insane..but he had actually been there.She didn't say anything..not wanting to seem crazy."My mother wanted some scotch.."She said calmly."How did you get here so fast?"She asked,then suddenly this part slipped out."How were you talking to me in my mind?!"She then put a hand over her mouth,realizing what she said.

Pure's eyes perked up a little when she asked him how he spoke to her mind. But his expression softened when he remembered he would never lie to her. "Because I am a vampire," he said softly and gave a very small smile. "I'm not going to hide anything from you. I've stalked you since you were twelve and have had feelings for you since I would never let you out of my sight, except when you needed your privacy. I would always make sure harm never came to you. I know this scares you and you are more than welcome to run. I would understand and would leave you be, but the way is safe now and you can get your mother her venom."

She blinked,taking it all in.But for some odd reason she didn't want to run.She just gave him a small kiss on the cheek."Thank you."She said quietly,thinking of herself as twelve she had,had dark black curly hair that went to her mid back and would always wear a bow since she was coming out of her kid stage,she was an adorable child..atleast thats what her mother said but she never believed it."Well,I'm pretty accident proned..you must of had to work a lot."She said with a small grin,touching his cold skin."So thats why your so cold?"

Pure felt color fill his cheeks and he smiled from the kiss and looked down at the hand on his skin. It felt hot from the dramatic temperature difference and he nodded. "Yes, I have saved you from many things, mainly small. This is the first time I saved you from death," he said and cringed on the last word. He didn't know what he'd do if she died.

She smiled a little and then looked at him."So..how long have you been a vampire?"She asked,looking down at her hands.

"Longer than I'd like to be and even longer than I remember," he said and gently lifted her chin up. The touch stung him lightly and the tingling sensation felt great. "Keep your chin up," he murmured and returned his hand when he felt she would keep looking up. "Shall we go get the scotch?" he said and offered her his arm.

She took his arm and nodded,looking back at Maiara and then starting to walk."So..isn't it kind of bad for you to tell me this?"She asked,looking up at the moonlight and then back at him."So the legends are true.."She mumbled to herself and saw the store down the street.She wondered what her mother would think if she saw this..but then remembered her mother would be to drunk to see this.

"It's not good to tell humans whom you are, but it's mostly personal preference. I would have kept it a secret, but you asked me and I wasn't about to lie to you," he said and smiled at her. "What is this legend you speak of? Surely the idea of vampires in this town is not a legend. It's more of a conspiracy or a denied truth." Pure frowned when he saw the store was closed, but that didn't stop him. He pulled the money from her hand and walked through the walls. It was a skill that was learned rather than a natural talent for vampires. He opened the register to place the money in it and walked out with a large bottle of hard liquor wrapped in a brown paper bag.

Katie smiled and took the paper bag."Thanks,thats really kool."She grinned,then frowned."Well,before my father died he used to tell stories to my brother and I and one night he told us a legend about vampires in this town,by legend I should have said story..but I was just thinking of my father."She said lightly and took his hand instead of his arm,feeling the strange but good chill go threw her."So whats it like..being powerful..I guess ?"She asked.

"I'm not powerful. I'm one of the weakest vampires around, but I prefer it that way. I wouldn't have to fear breaking you whenever I would like to hug you," he said and blushed as he used that example. "Besides, I like accuracy and speed much more than strength." He looked down at their hands and smiled. He wished he knew she was so open before, rather than wasting years staring at her from the hidden sidelines.

"Well speed out goes bronze in my opinion."She smiled when he brought up the hug thing."Hmm,what if I wanted to hang out with you more..?How would we see each other?"She asked,wondering if she would only get to see him at night or something weird like that.She looked at her other hand that was holding the Scotch,and thought of her mother,looking back up at him.

"I'm always around so I guess just think about how much you want to see me and I'm sure I'll get the message," he said and let go of her hand once they got to her house. "I assume you ask that because you do want to see me again?" he asked with a questioning and curious tone. It would be the first time anyone would desire his presence. Before she could answer, he waved and turned back to walk towards the city.

"Yes."She called softly but loud enough for him to hear.She sighed as she watched him leave and started to walk up her steps,waiting to say if he was going to reply or not before going in.

'I'll see you later then,' he thought and somehow you could tell he was smiling while he thought. And he indeed was. She had openly accepted him. Humans were so nice or very naive, but whatever what they were, he liked it. His own kind was filled with greed and hate for each other, except for the rare "relationships" which were just sex on a first date. He found his way back to the alleyway he was in before and sighed with relief when he no longer heard those excessively loud televisions. He sat down and pulled his hood up and fell asleep.

Katie went inside and handed her mother the scotch.Her mother had nodded and let her go.Katie ran up the steps to the attic that she lived in and opened the window since it was so hot.She pulled off her clothes except for her bra and underwear and laid on the bed,she hated her mother for making her sleep up here.She closed her eyes trying to think of something else but Pure,it was strange how she had just met him and now wanted to see him again.She wondered if he knew what she was thinking.Because at the moment she was thinking about being with him.She shook her head and tried to think of something else before drifting into sleep.

Pure felt his dream being interrupted and it looked as if his dream had been switched to a bad TV channel and all he could see was static. It woke him up and he knew it was the calling that she wanted to see him. He felt a reason not to go, but he disregarded it and teleported to the inside of the attic. "You wanted to see me again? So soon?" he murmured. He made sure he was facing away from her, knowing it was possible that she wouldn't be decent in such a hot part of the house...

She jumped up from sleeping and covered herself."Oh..Sorry I was ..umm..dreaming about you."She said,blushing brightly and looking down in embarassment."I'm really...sorry,but you can stay if you want.."She said,he could stay the night if he wanted to since her mother nor brother ever come up here.

He sensed her covering herself and he turned. His red eyes were identifiable, but they weren't obscenely bright like many others eyes. He sat down next to her bed and grinned at her. "If it's what you want," he reassured her. Though he knew that he wouldn't stay just because she wanted him to. Pure noticed that she didn't do the best job covering herself up, but he didn't let his thoughts become perverted, but only admired how lovely she looked. "You're very pale for a human," he complimented.

"Thanks,I guess thats something to be proud of."She grinned.She sighed and let the top of the cover drop,only covering her legs since even in underwear it was strange.But she was fine with him seeing her in a bra."Well..I kinda want you to stay.."She said,looking at her hands again.

Pure smiled at her, and though he had a great opportunity to let his eyes feast on the view of her chest, he kept them on her eyes. "I'll stay then," he promised and looked up at the moon and let the rays shine down on his face. He loved the moon and considered it the more mature sibling of the sun. "It's late Katie. Aren't you tired?" he said and let his eyes return to hers.

Gwen searched through Dorian's thoughts and finally found what she was looking for. 'Dorian? Dorian, you...you haven't been hunted just for food....Someone is hunting you down....to kill you. They would have killed you....you would have died that night had Maria not found you. Dorian, she saved your life....'
That's when Gwen realized that she'd forgotten to keep her feelings for him concealed. Her other thoughts, of how cute she thought he was and the crush she had on him, had gotten tangled up in his. By now he must know! Quickly, Gwen pulled back from Dorian, breaking the mental link between them.
Her face was bright red as she spoke softly to him. "I...I'm sorry. I didn't mean for you to hear those thoughts....really..."

she nodded but moved to the side of the bed and used her pillow to block herself until she got behind her closet door and put a black shirt of and dark blue shorts.She came out and sat back down by him."Are you tired?"She asked,brushing her hair back.
