I just recently celebrated my birthday and it makes me chortle to see what my friends get me. Because it always says something about how they see you and what they think you are like. Some gifts are very generic, like a gift certificate. Some are expensive, perfume Others are practical, alarm clock. And some are just downright strange, a beer mug with a bicycle bell on it.

So my question is, what are the most memorable gifts you have recieved and what do you think it says about the person who gave it to you and what they think of you.

Mine would have to be this bottle of perfume I recieved from my friend at school who happens to be a lesbian. Not trying to read too much into it, but her girlfriend kinda wants to kick my ass because she thinks I am trying to steal her away. It was a pretty expensive present, but then, she comes from a rich family and apparently the price didn't mean a lot to her.

Maybe she just wants me. Tsss, but then again, who doesn't?

Psst: I'm kidding. :feesh:

Well, every year, my grandma gets me this mildly expensive (read: too expensive for me) wisteria perfume/lotion/bathsoap set that I absolutely adore. I think it's great that she caters to the girly side of me, 'cause I'm usually more of a tomboy. XD I think she keeps getting it because she wants me to calm down some; I'm pretty sure she thinks it's very unbecoming of me to have tattoos and hang out with a bunch of guys. Haha.

Another one would be what my best friend got me last year -- a Kill Audio action figure. She knows I'm in love with Coheed and Cambria, and the Kill Audio is a comic book alter-ego of the lead singer. Plus, I love action figures, so it's her way of letting me know she thinks I'm a dork, but she still loves me. =3

We aren't big on birthday gifts in my circle of friends. But one year my friend got us all these cute stuffed animals for each of us on our 18th birthdays. It made us all feel bad so we took her out to dinner and stuff for her birthday.

Anyways, She gave me this wabafet plushie. :3 My boyfriend sent me his Pokemon Pearl to go with it when I told him, so it was an awesome birthday. (and yeah, he gave me his copy because he downloaded the game onto his ds, so he sorta re-gifted his own stuff D<)

Oh and this year,
My best friend Miguel took me out to dinner and we watch twelve hours of Legend of the Seeker. :3 It was the coolest day of my life. I love that guy to death. Pizza, beer, and video games 24/7 with this guy. <3

My eighteenth birthday was yesterday, and I got from my aunt a jewlery box.
See, when I was six I wanted it and I told her. She promised when I turned 18 I'd get it. Well she remembered :)

My most memorable gift... was probably a really cute gift set my friend handmade me. :) She got all of my hobbies and materialized them into gifts. It was so sweet! She made a card, wrapped the gift so beautifully, it was perfect! Ha ha.

My other friend got me balloons to carry around school, and I thought that was pretty fun. :)

My birthday has just been, it was on the 21st. i got heaps of money and gift vouchers. That's all I really wanted. The most memorable gift I ever got was a holiday to Australia for a week.

I know this is going to sound weird but seriously the best gift anyone got me is one of those giant cookies. This girl that I work with and used to be friends with bought me one last year and brought it to work as a surprise. It was so sweet of her. Best part is she made it all purple and pink which are my favorite colours. She also stuck candles on it and sang happy birthday to me. Later on that night her and I hung out and she baked a brownie cake for my birthday and we sat around and ate that the rest of the night.

I'm very easy to please, just get me some kind of chocolate food item and I am good to go. XD

my best birthday gift so far was the newer [2006] car my parents purchased for me last year!
they are not the type of people to hand their children anything.
i've always worked for what i have.

nevertheless. it made my decade! ^^

Sadly unlike apparently a lot of people here I'm from a fairly poor family. Birthday gifts were usually small for me or a little money.

My parents usually ask me what I want to buy from my birthday money (I nowadays ask for money rather then gifts since I know I won't like most gifts) and then wait to see how much I get and if I have enough that they don't need to pitch in half their monthly income they give me the money I'm short on to buy it.

My uncles and aunts don't come to my birthday anymore...when they did it was usually a doll or money.

My grandmother who died in 1999 seemed to have the insane idea that because I'm a girl I should get pink clothes and Barbies for my birthday. (if not for being able to make good money off of barbies I'd burn them ceremoniously. GRRR)

My most memorable gift was the one of december 9th 2009. ^^ I have recently started indulging in REAL dolls (not them anatomically incorrect anorexic facelifted into I can't stop smiling mode things they call barbie) Asian Ball Jointed Dolls and on my last birthday my parents agreed to take me to the other end of Holland to a shop for these very expensive, but beautifully and more importantly anatomically correct dolls who have more then just a smile for an expression. I got to buy myself a little demon doll and some clothes and wigs for the 2 dolls I had spend 2 years saving up what I could to afford. (being that my first doll cost 600 euros or 800 and some dollars with transport costs and customs fees for imported goods and my other very tiny one costed 100 euros to buy and the one I'm still paying on now costs 125 euros and the one I want is going to be 500 euros all transport and costums fees included; it's an expensive hobby to have.)

From my mom on my last birthday, My 13th to be exact, I got a bike that has faulty brakes. It totally stinks, cuz I want to ride it to school but I'm afraid of killing myself.

Hey, you're not the only one with a fairly poor family.
My birthday's in August, and my mom usually waits until February or March to get presents (since that's when she gets her tax return, and the only time we actually have money). I'm just now getting my birthday presents for last year. XD But they're awesome presents (three concert tickets to three of my favorite bands, and a preorder on my favorite band's new CD), so I'm totally and eternally grateful for them!

My most memerable birthday gift was from my father when I was seventeen. He and my mom divorced when I was fourteen and he moved to califorina (I'm in New Jersey), and I hadn't seen him/really talked to him in a long time. That year he sent me a pair of sparkly, purple jeans, and a few sizes too small, too boot!

Now, today I would have eaten those jeans up if they were my size. However, when I was seventeen I was a poster child for Hot Topic. I was so disgusted and horrified by his gift. It really made it clear that my father had no idea who I was. At all.

It wasn't my birthday- but my friend had a new years party- a "white elephant" gift party- basically wrapping up crap that nobody would really give a crap about

we wrapped up a Mary Kate and Ashley VHS, a Ronald McDonald Vinyl record, a book called Male Menopause, a dvd about Christopher Walken, a Binder with a 6 of clubs in it, some nasty smelling hand lotion, and somebody opened up an inflatable boat with some oars and a Sponge Bob piggy bank... lulz

In my country when it 's our birthday we invite our class for a birthday party at either our house or another place so the people who come to the party bring a present each. Though that happens mostly in ellementary school. It seldom happens from 13th grade & above. From the 13th grade we either celebrate our birthday with some people we decide to & invite them or don 't celebrate at all.
I celebrate my birthday with my friends and invite them to a cafeteria or bar. They ussually get me a diary or telephone catalog, practical stuff. Though we don 't think the present matters or how much it cost. What matters is that they remember my birthday & wish me "happy birthday". The present just doesn 't matter, friendship does. ;D
I also get presents from my grandparents. They bring me when they go abroad. I still have that fox plush they gave me & it 's really cute. xD

That's really cool :3

I really wish people wouldn't buy me presents for my birthday or christmas. I don't know where the heck Santa came in, and I'm not really a particular religion, but Christmas to me is just appreciation and love- I don't care about presents, and I asked my family if we could stop buying each other presents for christmas because it really takes our mind off of what really matters =/

For my past birthday I recieved a card from my friend Momo (Ashley). It wasn't just an ordinary card though, it was a HUGE one she made herself. She put it on orange poster paper and got all my friends to sign it. Not only that though, she is an artist, a GREAT one at that and she put 2 of her BEST drawings of all time in that card. It made me cry because of how sweet it was of her. I can tell she thinks of me as a best friend because she put 2 of her best drawings in there and she said that it would have been very difficult for her to part with them if it wasn't for her giving it to one of her good friends (: I love me some MOMO! xD She's my bessfrann (:

I haven't really had any good birthdays in the past couple of years. Usually my parents just give me money so I can go out and buy what I want. It's usually about $100 or so. But my b-day is just a couple weeks after Christmas, so I feel like I get a lot more around my b-day XD

But last year I went out with my best friend to celebrate his 17th b-day. I drew him a picture of his dog, and he loved it, and framed it :3. Anyways, we went out to dinner, and he met my mom and step dad, which was pretty interesting. Then my parents had left, and I went to the bathroom real quickly, and this hooker came outta the bathroom and asked if my friend wanted a good time. He just flat out said that he was gay, and she said, "Oh, ok", and then left XD. I thought that that was pretty hysterical when he told me when I got outta the bathroom XDDD

My big sister gave me really embarrassing pants. As in panties. (I'm cringing at writing panties, so you can imagine what kind of person I am.) I was too disturbed to say thanks at first. And no way am I wearing them. ...although they are pretty cool. xD;

My favorite presents have always been the hand-crafted ones. I love things people make their selves rather than buying me something.

Speaking of birthdays, mine is tomorrow!

I think it was my 11th birthday, and I will never forget what my (then) best friend gave me. She knew I have always been kind of a hippie (I grew up with a hippie Native American grandma, and she really influenced me, I love her!) so we were sitting around a table at a roller skating rink. Everyone was handing me presents and she handed me this card. I looked in and it was this official looking piece of paper with the card and it turns out, she planted a tree in a national forest in my name! It was so sweet. She named it after me and planted it in my name, it made me cry XD She also gave me ten dollars because she didn't know if the tree was enough, but I was so happy and touched I was crying. It made me so happy. I didn't even care about the money.
