Fairy Stone Magic

Within the hills of Virginia there are special stones. These stones are called Fairy Stones. Legend has it that these stones were created when an elven messenger brought news of the death of Christ to the fairies who once lived here. After receiving the message the fairies cried and their tears that fell crystallized into the shape of crosses. The fairy stones come in the shape of St. Andrews, Roman and Maltese crosses. The St. Andrews cross is the most common to be found, then the Roman and the Maltese is the rarest. It's said that if one is lucky enough to find one of these crosses that they will gain magic power. The magic powers range widely from divine protection to the ability to control/manipulate an element.

So will you go forth and hunt for one of these little charms? If so be warned once you have found a Fairy Stone you must always keep it on you. If you lose your Fairy Stone you will be in grave danger. For those who have lost their charm are said to go mad.

Jamie had finally made it to the area in Patrick county Virginia where fairy stone were said to be in abundance for those who wished to look for them. He parked his car alongside the narrow dirt road. This looks like a good spot to start searching he thought to himself. Leaving his car behind he headed up the steep hill looking for signs of odd shaped stones. Near the top he found a spot that had some square shaped rocks and he began to dig.

Lexi couldn't believe it. She had finally talked one of her friends into driving her to where she could hunt for fairy stones. She was so excited that her friend threatened to leave her alongside the road or to just take her back home if she didn't calm down. Finally settling down she wondered how hard it would be to find a stone and if the stone were really magical. She didn't really care, it was the adventure that excited her.

Ryoma cruised her motorcycle through the streets, eventually ending up on a dirt road far off into the country land of Virginia. even as she cruised by fields and trees at 60 miles per hour she could still smell that sweet country smell that made her think magic. She took a deep breath and kicked the bike up a speed enjoying the thrill, a small dust cloud appearing behind her. They come in different shapes and sizes, she was repeating in her head, trying to figure out what she would be looking for she had studied alot. and they are said to hold true power. She slowed down seeing a car up ahead, hoping it wasn't a cop all the way out here she slowed the bike to a reasonable 55. And how will I know that what I've found is actually the stone.

Jamie paused from his digging when he heard what sounded like a motorcycle. When he looked all he really could see was a dust cloud. Someone else out here to look for the stones? Or maybe just some joyrider? Shrugging he knelt back down and started looking through the small pile of stones he had already managed to dig up.

Lexi stared out the window of her friends truck. "Are we there yet," she asked just to annoy her friend. Her friend just glared at her. She giggled to herself and went back to looking out the window. "I hope that the fairy stones are real and they are magical. It would be cool to have a magical power," she said, basically talking to herself. After a while they were in the country. It was beautiful and much like near where she lived. She had a good feeling about this place. "Hey turn up that dirt road ahead," she almost shouted.

Ryoma startled to see a man out digging pulled up along side his car, parking right behind it and kicking the kick-stand into place she stood up sliding her helmet off which she place on the seat. "Hey mister, what are you up to out there?" She called out to him as she walked towards him. She was taken in the pile of stones next to him and her own suspicions that the fairy stones were out here, it would make sense if that's what he told her. She nodded her head in acknowledgment of a fellow researcher of the paranormal and unknown. That's what he most likely was.

"Oh hello," Jamie called. "It might sound silly, but I'm looking for stones. Well actually a specific type of stone." He stood and dusted off his knees as she watched the women. Another fairy stone hunter, he thought. "They say this is one of the few places in the world they can be found so I decided to check it out. Why might you be all the way out here miss?"

( i wanted to use a country accent so bad reading that last line for some reason aka : same as you doll )

She smiled brightly at him, "That doesn't sound silly at all, in fact I'm out here doing research on some odd stones myself. " She looked again at his pile, "All of those look like regular stones to me. Are you sure this is the right place?"

Jamie looked at the pile and sighed slightly. "To tell you the truth. I'm not really sure if this is or not. My research only got me so far. There weren't any specifics on where in this county you could find the stone other then in the country hills." He wondered if this was a good location to look or if he needed to go further back into the hill country which could be dangerous.

The dirt road was dusty. "Damn someone must have been flying down this road," Lexi said. As she tried to see through the dust she wondered if there were other people looking for the stones as well. She didn't care much for strangers and has always been shy. After a while she caught a glimpse of what looked like vehicles and some people standing up on the hill ahead. "Hey lets stop and ask them if they know anything about the fairy stones." Of course she meant that 'hey why don't you stop and ask them' instead.

"Get lost."

The squirrel completely ignored Ezechial. It edged a little closer, chattering in its squirrelly way, its' bright eyes wide as it looked at her. She sighed, and got up. The squirrel started to follow her.

"Don't you get that I don't like you?" Ezechial glared at the squirrel. "So go. A. Way."

The squirrel just went on chattering, ran around in a little circle, and finally circled its way so fast up Ezechial's leg that she hardly saw it.

"Oh-" Ezechial prepared herself to start yelling at the squirrel, hoping loud noises would scare it away, when a strange sound started up. The squirrel froze mid-chatter, standing up straight, its' ears pricked alertly. It jumped onto Ezechial's head - "Hey!" - and into the nearest tree, leaping away until it was out of sight.

Grumbling, Ezechial moved through the trees, ignoring the small roman cross, which was tied around her neck with a strip of leather, as it bumped against her chest. She pushed apart two bushes, and met quite an odd sight, and one she'd never seen before.

There was a man and a woman. The man was in a field, and appeared to be digging. Whatever for escaped Ezechial completely. The woman was standing astride the strangest vehicle Ezechial had ever laid eyes on. (Keep in mind that Ezchial was raised in a strict catholic cult, so she only vaguely knew of cars, let alone motorbikes.) She shrank down, making sure that she was hidden from the two people's sights. She watched them carefully, trying to overhear what they were saying to each other.

"Well it's probably good enough to start with, though I wouldn't want to search for more than a month." She indicated the area around them that had many places that it could be. A car coming down the road made her turn her head. "Well will you look at that, looks like there is someone else here." She said happily as it came to a stop, "I think this might bee the right place after all. " She knelt down into the dirt next to him and stuck her hands in to start checking rocks. Adventurous excitement hitting her in the hopes that this in fact was the correct place.

"It just might be. I thought the spot looked promising since there were some square shaped rocks." Jamie smiled and had hope that he did pick a good spot to look for the stones. He started digging again in the same area as before. There had to be some fairy stones here. Why else would others be in the same area looking for them.

Lexi got out of the truck because she had lost to her friend in a game of paper, rock, scissors. She walked up to the two people digging. "Umm...hello. I was wondering is this a good place to hunt for fairy stones," she asked sheepishly, keeping her eyes downcast. "I heard they can be found out here if you look for them."

well she's blunt isn't she. Ryoma thought with a laugh, neither her or the man had actually mentioned the type of stone they were looking for. "Why absolutely!" She said jokingly picking up a stone from the pile, "See here's one...now." Having not looked at the stone she had grabbed at all she didn't notice what it was shaped like until she lifted it up. The smile on her face was quickly replaced with one of slight horror as she saw a very strange creature standing by her motorcycle clapping its hands in glee.

It was the ugliest thing she had ever seen. Her eyes finally focused on the shape of the stone, a cross. Her mouth fell open. "Oh, I guess this is one."

"Oh wow, you found one." Lexi gasped. "So lucky." She wondered what was wrong when she noticed the look on the women's face. "Umm...are you ok?" Before waiting for an answer she waved to her friend to let them know that they could go on back to the hotel and she'd call her later.

Jamie picked up a stone to examine it and was delighted to find that it was in the shape of a cross. "I found one too," he said. As he stood up he saw a creature staring at him from beside a tree. The creature looked please as it smiled at him. "What the hell is that thing," he yelled pointing at the creature.

"You see it to!?" Ryoma asked spinning fast to face the man. "It's like as soon as I picked up the stone it was just ..there." She looked at the cross and back up at the creature, and did this for a few moments looking between the two. "You don't think we can see them, because we found the stones do you? " She looked at the girl, "Oh sorry, yes, I'm fine, but that thing there looks evil as heck. Wait... can you see it?"

Ezechial's eyes narrowed. This wasn't looking good. They had no idea what they were up against.

The girl tossed up between the options she had: Stay here in the forest, safe and hidden, or go and help those two people before they got torn to shreds by the paranormal creature they now beheld? Ezechial had always hated fighting those creatures; though they obviously wanted to do her harm, she hated hurting anything that looked remotely alive. Part of the deal that came with having a cross that made you excpetionally good with animals.

For now, she'd watch. If things started to go awry, she'd step in and help. But not until then.

(oh hey its the weekend o.O that went fast.)

The little creature was dancing and making rude gestures at them and than it started to come towards them. Ryoma's eyes widened, the closer it got the more ugly it looked and she made a face at it. "You're disgusting." It was to the creature of course, but who knew what Lexi thought not being able to see the creature. Ryoma just watched transfixed as it kept coming closer. This can not be real. That is completely fake. Nothing I've studied has ever said that faeries are ugly little goblin gross creatures with evil looking everything. She titled her head watching it. Which is when it got close enough to lunge at her, straight towards her hand. Ryoma screamed and moved her hand just in time, the creature landing on the with an "oof."

Lexi's eyes widened. What's going on? Why are these people acting so strange? She backed away from Ryoma. As she backed down the hill she slipped and went tumbling to the bottom. "Oww," she whined, rubbing her knee. Some rocks had come loss and were laying around her. Apparently one of them was a fairy stone because when she looked up back up towards Ryoma and Jamie she could see the little creature they had. "Holy shit! What the hell is that?" Looking around her she noticed a cross shaped stone by her knee, which match the imprint on her knee. So this is a fairy stone? No wonder much isn't known about them if they make us see things.

Jamie stared not sure to make of what was going. As he stared at the creature going towards Ryoma he didn't notice that there was a bigger one sneaking up behind him. Luckily he moved out of the way in time to go help Lexi. "Are you ok?" He looked into the frightened teens eyes. "Do you see them too? I wonder what they are." He helped Lexi to her feet. "By the way I'm Jamie."

Ryoma yelped again as it got up and dove towards her she put her fist up and as she did she felt a strange surge in her wrist where a watch lay that suddenly shot a bolt of electricity at the creature and immediately stopped working. She opened her eyes to see the thing lying on the ground and she turned her attention to the cross in her hand. With a dazed kind of stumble she walked backwards and over to the other two, not noticing the other creature.

"Are you alright?" She shook her head as if to clear it, these were a strange series of events. She just barely caught Jamie's name as he said it. "Oh, I'm Ryoma, sorry I didn't introduce myself." She looked at her watch again, it was smoking slightly and she realized it was beginning to burn her skin, in which case she quickly slid it off and dropped it on the ground. This was insane, What had just happened?

"Yeah, I'm fine. I'm Lexi." She wasn't sure what was going on, but she knew that they were in danger. "What do you think those things are?" Lexi hid slightly behind Jamie. "They're ugly." She just wished that there was a way to protect herself and the two people she just met. In that instant when she made her wish a barrier that only she could see formed around them. "What's going on now? What's with the light that's around us?"

"I have no clue what those things are. You're right about them being ugly though." Jamie watched the creature that was still up on the hill. "They must be after these stones. I wonder why." He tried to think of a reasonable explanation for what they were seeing, but couldn't come up with one. "Hmm? What light?" He gave Lexi a strange look. About that time the creature seemed to run into something, though nothing was there.

Ryoma blinked, "What light? And what did that creature just run into?" I didn't see anything anyways, did you two?" She was fiddling with the rock that was in her hand. "This stuff is all pretty insane. Nothing I studied said things like this were going to happen.

"Don't you see it? There's a light around us and that think ran into it. It's like a barrier or something..." Lexi wasn't sure how to explain what she was seeing. She didn't know what was going on, but she was starting to feel kind of dizzy and weak all of a sudden. She held tight to the stone she had found.

Jamie tried hard, but he wasn't able to see any light. "I have no clue what you're talking about. I don't see any light." He looked around, there had to be something that he could use as a weapon. Up the hill by the tree was a broken branch. That would make a good club, he thought, but how do I get to it without getting caught by the monster? As he tried to think of a way to get the branch, the branch seemed to start moving on it's own. It was slowly getting closer to him.

Not good. Not good at all. These people had no clue what they were up against.

Grumbling, Ezechial pushed herself backwards, back into the clearing she had left a few minutes earlier. She glanced around, looking for something suitable... she saw it.

A small tree was growing just on the edge of the clearing; the topmost brach came up to Ezechial's shoulder. She marched up to it, concentrated, then started to talk very quickly and loudly:

"So, I was thinkin', what if you wanted to become a weapon for me? I know it sounds kind of me, me using you without giving you anything in return, I mean, but it's for a noble cause, and I'm sure that the Mother tree will be proud of you, because it's really a good thing. Now, I reckon you'd be a good height for a bow or a spear; d'you think you could manage? That's it; just a bit thinner; almost, maybe just grow a tiny bit - there we go, you're perfect!"

Ezechial, panting after not having drawn breath at all during the short spurt of vigorous jabbering, examined her handiwork. Where there had once been the small tree, there was now a straight, thick pole. She took the small stone cross from around her neck, and drove the base deeply into the top of the staff; the stone cross was weirdly sharp, so it would make a nice spear-head.

Ezechial carefully pulled the staff out of the ground (the roos had grown together, so she didn't have to tug very hard), and swung it around her, checking if it would make a suitable weapon.

Satisfied, Ezechial crawled back to where she had been watching the trio; they were together in a tight group, the ugly monster-thing jumping about them. Strangely, the creature kept jerking away, as if it were being repelled from the three people. But that was absurd; it wasn't possible.

Decided, Ezechial stood up, and ran down the gentle slope that seperated the forest from the paddock where the three were standing. She raised the make-shift spear, emitting a loud cry as she whacked the ugly, black creature across the head.

((>.>//<.< Ehm... was that a bit too god-moddish or something? I be feeling lonely...))
