"Do you want to go inside?" Glory asked. "The couch is probably more comfortable than the sand."

"That would be nice..." Léan replied, softly. He was tired, and just wanted to curl up, be warm, and relax. He rarely took anything for headaches, since medicine was not a cheap thing in his world and he lived nowhere near a city.

"Alright," Glory said. "Dry off as best you can and I'll take you inside so you can crash on the couch."

Léan crawled up onto one of the rocks and shook himself off. After he dried a bit, he hopped over onto another rock so he could fully dry. It took a few minutes. He was exhausted by the time he was dry--his headache was draining his energy away.

"You don't look so great," Glory said softly as she picked him up and took him inside. "What's going on?"

"Ah...my head just hurts...I just need some rest..." Léan mumbled quietly, curling up once he was picked up. Some rest--and medicine, possibly--sounded nice.

"You've been resting for most of the day," Glory pointed out as she set him on the couch. "We slept in, and you were napping when I got home." She thought for a moment. "If it's a headache, I can give you something for it. I've got some ibuprofen, which will help."

"Ibu-what?" Apparently, they had different sorts of medicine in Léan's world. He hesitated. Sometimes, things that worked on humans did not work so well on merpeople, or had very awkward side effects. "...If you think it will help, I am willing to try it."

"It's a mild painkiller that humans take for headaches," Glory explained. "It's about all I've got that might help."

Léan nodded. "It sounds safe...all right, I will have some, if it will help me...this headache is murderous..." He closed his eyes, looking tired. It was really just the headache sapping away his energy.

Glory nodded and went to get him an ibuprofen and a blanket. She came back in with the blanket and a single pill.

"I'll give you one instead of two, since I'm willing to bet you don't have the tolerance built up that humans do," she said.

Léan nodded idly, finding that reasonable, and took the pill slowly. He studied it curiously, fascinated by it. Medicines in his world were usually bottled solids or liquids in their natural forms. "Do I chew it, or just swallow it?"

"Just swallow it," Glory replied. "I can get you some water if you want. I'm used to taking pills dry, but most people can't."

"Some water would probably be a good thing..." Léan didn't think he could swallow that without water, at all. He just prayed it wouldn't have any odd side effects. The last time he had taken human medicine--it had been for a stomachache after eating bad food while he was still with Selena--he had had some, erm...very unwanted side effects.

Glory nodded.

"Alright," she said. Going into the kitchen, she filled a plastic cup with water and took it back to him. "Here."

Léan quietly took the pill--he was tempted to chew it, but didn't--and then sighed, resting against the back of the couch. He hoped it would work, soon. He hated headaches.

Once he was resting, Glory went and grabbed her computer. She could find something to do for a while, easily. Settling herself down on her bed, she kept an eye out the window, just in case.

Léan rested for a long while, curled up around himself. Then, about twenty minutes later, something about his posture changed. He suddenly curled his tail up more, and pulled the blanket around him a tad tighter. For some reason, he looked terribly awkward.

Glory noticed how awkward he looked when she went in to check on him a little while later.

"You alright?" she asked.

"Yes. I'm fine." Léan had forced a calm expression on his face. Human medicines and their damned side effects...he'd suspected there would be some kind of odd side effect, but this was worse than he thought it would be.

Not like he was going to say anything unless he was forced to.

"Are you sure?" Glory asked. She could tell he wasn't telling her something, but if he wasn't going to say it, she wouldn't push the issue.

Léan was perfectly still. He wasn't even moving his head to look at her--the look on his face might betray what the problem was. "I'm sure. I just need to rest for a while longer."

"Alright," Glory said. "I'll be in my room if you need anything. I'm keeping an eye on the beach, just in case."

"I think he will be away until tomorrow. And then he'll return, excited. So, prepare for an early morning..." Even when trying to speak normally, there was a strained tone to Léan's voice. And a hint of...

...Embarrassment?

Glory caught the hint of embarassment in his voice, and she couldn't figure out why. Something nagged at the back of her mind, she wasn't able to grab at it.

"I'll be ready for it, then," she said, a bit distracted as her thoughts moved. Then she shook her head a bit. No sense in just confusing herself and letting her imagination run wild. "Like I said, I'll be in my room."
