Léan tilted his head. "I don't think he minds doing things for others, as long as they're civil to him..." he mused. "All the time I was on land, he would help people out and expect nothing in return...but only if the person he helped was civil and didn't take advantage of him."

"Like I said, I'm going to be owing him favors for the rest of my life," Glory said. "I hate asking for things like I have been..."

"I don't think he minds you asking him all these favors..." Léan insisted. "...But, if you want to try something else first, we can..."

"I'll give him a call later, see what he thinks," Glory said. "I can't guarantee anything, though..." She cuddled into his side, wanting the contact.

Léan purred softly, wrapping his arms around her. "...I am afraid there is not much my father fears, or can be hurt by. If it comes down to it, and it's a last resort...and he threatens to kill someone...we may have to kill him."

Despite the hatred he felt for his father, his voice cracked on the last two words.

"I hope it doesn't come to that," Glory said softly, resting her head on his shoulder. "I don't want to see you hurt." And she knew it would hurt him to have to kill his father.

Léan swallowed, thickly, and rested his head against hers. "...Why does he want to torment me?" he muttered, sullenly. "I don't understand." He was running through more ideas in his head. "...The past few years, from what I know, he's been feverishly searching for details about what exactly happened to my mother...who pulled her up, why she was pulled up, if she's really dead--there was no body found..."

He trailed off. "The only detail he's ever been able to find is that the ship who apparently pulled her up--an eyewitness, a friend of my mother's, saw the ship--was a small-size yacht that had the title of 'The Goblin.'"

Glory snuggled closer to him, offering comfort.

"It might be possible to find out the status of the ship, if we can track it down by its name," she suggested softly. "I don't know how hard such a thing would be, but... We might be able to figure out where it is, maybe where it's been, anything in the cargo hold... I can't guarantee anything, though."

"Perhaps if we agree to help him research, he'll leave us alone, for now, and stop being violent...I can still hear him swimming around out there, waiting for us to come back out..." Léan informed her, gladly accepting her comfort. "...I think he's chasing a lost cause...he thinks she's still alive, being tormented by humans..."

"If she is alive, then she's probably not being tormented," Glory pointed out. "If it's been this long, then more than likely she's being taken care of." She cuddled with him. "I have some contacts in the library system, I could put the word out to look around for information on the ship."

Léan, whom had lost hope of ever finding his mother's body--let alone finding her alive, shifted slightly. "...You don't have to, but...if you can, and have time..." he trailed off, awkwardly.

"It's a Friday, in the middle of the day," Glory pointed out. "Any library worth its books is open right now. I could head out to my favorite library now, if you want."

"Can I go with you?" Léan asked, sounding determined. "I will need to clothe myself, and my tail will need to be wrapped up, but...I would really like to go with you..."

Glory nodded.

"Of course," she said. "I just need to change into something a bit more suited to the weather, and then we can get ready to go."

Léan nodded, relieved. Since he didn't mind the cold, he didn't need to worry about dressing too warmly. Patiently, he waited for her.

Glory gave him a kiss, and then got up and hurried into her room to change. She'd noticed earlier that she hadn't really felt the cold while she was outside, so she changed into a pair of jeans and one of her favorite sweaters. She grinned a bit when she realized it was fairly close to the color of her scales. Slipping on a pair of flat shoes, she grabbed Léan's blue sweater and the blanket and went back into the living rom.

Léan took the sweater gingerly and, once again, struggled to get it on correctly. By the time he slipped it on correctly, his hair was all mussed up and sticking up. It looked funny, but since he couldn't see himself, he didn't realize it looked funny.

Glory giggled a bit.

"Hold still for a sec," she said. Reaching over, she ran her fingers through his hair, straightening it out a bit.

Léan watched her, amused. "Taking care of hair is so much easier underwater," he commented, pointedly. "Mine tends to stick up when messed around with up here..."

"That's because it's short," Glory pointed out. Her own hair was still pulled back into the half-twist. "Mine behaves better up here, where I can brush it out and not have it in my face." She unfolded the blanket and took the safety pins out of it. "Come on, the faster we're out of the house, the faster I can talk to Arabella. She's the head librarian, and she has connections to practically everywhere."

Léan nodded, cutting the idle chitchat. He lifted himself up and onto the wheelchair, once it had been properly unfolded. Then, he lifted his tail up and wrapped it around himself, securely.

Quickly, Glory secured the blanket around him, making sure it wasn't going to slip or anything.

"Alright," she said when she was done, "I'm ready when you are."

Léan nodded, quietly wheeling himself over towards the door. He seemed like he was much more adept with the wheelchair, now, and would be able to get around on land easily as long as he had it.

Once they were outside, Glory unlocked her car and helped him into it, putting the wheelchair in the back like before.

"The library isn't that far," she said as she pulled the car out of the driveway, "maybe ten minutes or so."

"A library is..." Léan's brow furrowed. "It is where a lot of books are kept?" he asked, unsurely. He wasn't familiar with books, since they didn't have many in his world, so his knowledge and terms about them were a bit rusty.
