"Pretty much," Glory said. "It's more like a place where information is kept. Anyone can go in and access the information, and it's mostly in the form of books. Nowadays there are digital forms of information, as well, which is faster and more efficient than searching through books, so that will help."

Once more, as did most things involving anything electrical or computer-related, everything seemed to fly a bit over Léan's head. "I see..." He blinked. "You think we will be able to find information on this boat? If it helps, she was pulled up in the Gulf Of Mexico."

"That probably will help, actually," Glory commented. "Chances are, if it was a small boat, it's probably privately owned. And small boats aren't really equipped to go very far from the shore, I know that much, so whoever owns the boat was probably in the general area." She pulled her car into the library parking lot. The lot was mostly empty, but that didn't surprise her.

Léan peered at the new building curiously, tilting his head. He had never even thought about what a human library looked like. He wasn't sure. He was quite curious to find out. "...I won't be forced to read anything, correct?" he asked, warily, as a precaution. "...You don't have to read something to spend time in there, do you?"

"No, of course not," Glory said. "Besides, Arabella loves me, she won't mind if I bring someone who isn't much interested in reading." Getting out of the car, she helped him into the wheelchair. "Come on. Just as a warning, the doors are automatic, so they move on their own."

Léan double-took at her comment. "...? They're alive?" he asked, skeptically. Once again...it had flown way over his head. He was more interested in the library, now. You could just...head in and do nothing all day, instead of being forced to read?

"No, they're not alive," Glory said as she locked up her car. "There are motion sensors that activate the doors when anyone gets close. You'll see. Just try not to jump, they're harmless."

Léan tilted his head, curiously, once more. It was all so strange to him. How could doors sense movement, in any way? They were inanimate objects...right? He followed her, closely...he was wary of these motion-sensing doors.

Glory went inside with him, pausing at the doors to let them open before continuing. The library was small and quiet, just like she remembered. It relaxed her a bit, somehow.

"Is that you, Gloriana?" a familiar voice said from the door to the back room. An older woman was standing in the doorway. Glory grinned.

"Hey, Arabella," she said.

Léan glared at the doors as he wheeled through them, and then looked around, with avid fascination in his eyes. He liked the smell of books, which he'd found out the last time he'd attempted to read. So, the smell and look of the place was relaxing to him, as well.

He almost jumped up out of the wheelchair at the sound of the unfamiliar human's voice.

"You haven't been here in ages, Glory," Arabella chided teasingly. Glory grinned.

"Yeah, yeah," Glory replied. "Life got in the way."

"It tends to," Arabella replied. "So, are you going to introduce your friend?"

"I'm getting to it," Glory said. "Arabella, this is my boyfriend Léan. Léan, this is Arabella, the head librarian around here."

Léan shifted awkwardly. Then, he faintly remembered some human customs. He cleared his throat and offered his hand to her. "Pleased to meet you..." He sounded comfortable, at least...not frightened. A tad wary, of course.

Arabella shook his hand briefly.

"It's good to meet you too," she said. Then she turned back to Glory. "Now, what brings you here? Obviously you need to research something."

"Hey, can't I just show up for the hell of it?" Glory asked. Arabella raised an eyebrow, but grinned.

"You haven't been here in ages, so the only reason I can think of is that you need to look something up," she pointed out. Glory blushed slightly in embarassment.

"Alright, fine," she said. "You're right, I need to find some specific information that I can't get with a general internet search."

"Well, maybe I can help, then."

Glory nodded and explained what they were looking for, leaving out the bits and pieces about Léan's mother.

"Hm..." Arabella hummed as she thought for a moment. She went over to one of the computers and ran a few searches in a more intensive search engine. "I don't know how much I can come up with without more information than that, but I can try."

Léan looked hopeful. Though he'd considered his mother dead for many years, he just wanted piece of mind. If she was alive...he, like his father, sort of felt that she was being harmed, or tortured. Or, at the very least, being holed up somewhere against her will...

He held onto Glory's hand, suddenly. He had a sad expression on his face. Part of him didn't want to find his mother if she was being hurt.

Glory squeezed his hand gently.

"I can't guarantee you're going to like the information that turns up," she murmured to him.

"I am well aware of that," Léan replied, barely audible. "I want to know what happened. I want to know if it really happened the way I heard it happened."

"Alright," Glory replied softly. A few minutes passed in relative silence, other than the tapping of the keyboard and Arabella murmuring to herself.

"Alright, that boat you asked about seems to be in drydock at the moment," she said after a few minutes. "You were right about it being privately owned, the person who owns is it has lived on the Gulf coast for years. He's some sort of science geek... Biologist, according to his biography." Glory blinked.

"You didn't get that off of a general seach, did you?" she asked. Arabella grinned.

"I have my ways," she said.

"Well, then, do you have any ways of getting any more information on this guy?"

"What do I look like, the FBI?" Glory couldn't help but laugh a bit.

"...If you can, please try..." Léan pressed, softly. "Whoever owns that boat has taken something very important from me, and my family, as well." He sounded sad, strained.

A biologist. He had a feeling this wasn't going to go well.

"I'll see what I can do," Arabella replied. "It might take a few days for my inquiries to come back, though." She wasn't asking questions, which Glory was grateful for.

"Give me a call when you get something," she said, writing down her cell phone number. Arabella nodded.

"Alright," she said.

Léan looked relieved that this woman would dig deeper for him. He needed some peace of mind. He still hadn't released Glory's hand. He was holding onto it for support, in case bad news was delivered.

"That's about all I can do for today," Arabella said, printing out the information she'd found so far. "I'll call if I find anything else."

"Thanks, Arabella," Glory replied, still holding on to Léan's hand. "I'll have my phone on and all that good stuff. Anyways, we should probably be going now..."

"Alright," Arabella said. "Stop back in sometime, alright? We could use the extra hands from time to time..."

"I'll see what I can do," Glory said. "No promises, though."

Léan continued to grip her hand as they left. He missed the smell of the library when he wheeled himself outside, but he was glad to leave--he didn't like being around strange humans, no matter how kind they were. "...Thank you for helping..." he whispered, quietly. "Perhaps now...we can make my father leave...or, at the very least, calm him down..."

Once Glory had put the wheelchair into the car and gotten into the driver's seat, she leaned over and gave him a kiss.

"I still say you don't have to thank me," she said. "I want to help."
