Glory slept soundly in his arms, tired out from the day. She would probably have slept all night, given the chance.

Léan was tired, as well. Maybe just as tired as she was. He stayed sleeping, and didn't wake up for quite some time. He didn't hear anything odd going on outside, so his father was probably asleep, as well.

Glory wasn't sure what time it was when she woke up, only that it was dark and she was too comfortable in Léan's arms to even think about moving.

Léan was still asleep, having an apparently odd dream. His eyelids were twitching a bit, and there was a semi-confused look on his face. It was odd to see, especially since he was still sleeping.

Glory debated waking him up, for a few moments, before deciding that she'd wake him up if he started to have nightmares again. Otherwise, she would let him sleep.

Léan's eyes opened, quite suddenly, and he looked around. He frowned. "I just had the strangest dream...but I can't remember all of it..." he admitted, sheepishly. "I hate it when that happens."

"That happens to me, sometimes," Glory said. "Not as often lately, but still sometimes."

"All I remember is someone speaking to me. Someone I don't know, and I didn't recognize the voice in the least. It was soft and girlish...or boyish...or something. It was a really eerie voice," Léan concluded, simply, scratching his head. "Aaahhh...what time is it?"

"I have no idea," Glory promptly replied. "It's either really late or really early, meaning that we should probably still be asleep."

Léan rubbed at his eyes. "Which means my father isn't asleep. If I remember correctly, he's where I get my stress-triggered insomnia, and he's under a lot of stress...he never used to sleep during the night and very early morning. He'd always sleep during the day."

"You've been sleeping fine lately, though," Glory pointed out. Then again, she slept like a rock, so she wouldn't know if he woke up at all.

"I know...it's only...it only happens for me during really extreme stress. I haven't had that for a while..." Léan admitted, quietly. "As in...flat-out panicking...sort of stress."

"You had a breakdown three days ago," Glory said. "Does that not count?"

"..." Léan sighed. "I slept restfully tonight, but I didn't sleep so well the past two nights. Sometimes, I do fall asleep, but I just don't...sleep well..." He rubbed his arms, absently.

"And I sleep deeply enough that I don't notice at all," Glory concluded. "Typical." She cuddled close to him. "Talk to me. What's been keeping you awake?"

Léan, without hesitation, simply wrapped his arms around her. "I don't know...I've just felt off for some reason...it might be something more specific, but if it is...I don't know what it is..." He sighed. "I'm not feeling too well. I think...I think one of the fish I hunted before my breakdown was ill, or was poisoned. And the stress from the breakdown amplified it..."

"You should have said something before the others left," Glory replied. "Are you still feeling off? Or are you feeling better?"

"I feel on-edge, but that's about it," Léan replied, scratching his head. "I think I may have a fever, as well, actually..." There wasn't a distinct change in his skin temperature, but merpeople had lower body temperatures than humans did.

"Then you should probably be outside," Glory said. "I haven't noticed anything, but I'm also warmer than you are on my own anyways."

Léan shook his head, at once. "I don't want to be out there when he's out there," he insisted, shortly. "I don't care if I'm throwing up organs. I don't want to be out there when he's out there."

"Having a fever for too long is bad," Glory pointed out. "It messes things up. You'll feel better where it's not so warm."

Léan shook his head, stubbornly. He curled back up, tightly, with no intention of moving.

He was afraid.

"And what happens if you end up getting worse because you refused to take care of yourself?" Glory asked, trying to get some sort of response. Finally, she sighed. "At least go fill the bath tub with cold water. That should help a little."

Léan sat up slowly, scratching his head absently. "I'm sorry...I just can't go out there--I didn't mean to be rude, or anything..." he apologized, quietly. "...I will wait. I have just a tiny fever, now--I can feel it."

"I just don't want anything to happen to you," Glory said. "See, now you've got me all worried about you."
