"It's the thing in coffee that keeps you awake," Glory replied. "A sort of stimulant. But it's one of those things that you need to build up a tolerance for." And Glory's tolerance for the stuff was rather high. She'd worked in a coffee shop when she was sixteen, so she'd acquired a taste for coffee.

"Oh. I don't think I would like that--I'm fine enough on my own," Morty chuckled, as he finished off his bagel. "I don't want to be bouncing around like a maniac or anything."

"Like I said," Glory replied, finishing her coffee, "I'd offer, but I doubt you'd react well to it." Putting her mug in the sink, she grabbed her bag and her keys. "And now I have to leave, because school starts in twenty minutes."

"See you later. I'm going to nap for a while," Morty murmured, yawning. He sank back down to the sandy bottom of the tank, curling up to rest again.

It didn't take long for Glory to get to school. She was more awake than before, but coffee was no replacement for real sleep. Maybe she'd take Viktor's suggestion and sleep in shop... She slid into her seat in her first class a few minutes early.

Selena was wide-awake in the back of the classroom, watching what looked like a movie on her phone hidden under the desk. She looked like she'd gotten a lot of sleep. Viktor was nowhere in sight.

"Remind me later I need more coffee," Glory said to Selena. "One cup wasn't quite enough with all the craziness going on lately."

"Rough night?" Selena asked, curiously. Her tone wasn't implying anything, but the way she asked it might have, unintentionally. She turned her phone off once it got close to starting time. She didn't want it taken.

"If you mean because I'm swamped with schoolwork, yes," Glory replied. "I just need to catch up on my sleep, which may or may not happen for a while. Things are a little weird at my place at the moment."

Selena knew better than to ask, apparently, since she didn't. She merely nodded and then scowled when the bell rang. She wasn't in the mood for school.

Glory made a mental note to send a message to Viktor later. She had no idea how to shop for guys' clothes, so she was drafting him to help her. She wasn't going to give him a choice in the matter.

Selena seemed extra chipper today. Her attitude was like it had been before Viktor completely dumped her. Perhaps that meant she'd finally found someone else?

Glory noticed her unusually good mood.

"Alright," she said during lunch, "spill. What's got you so disgustingly cheerful?"

"You want me to act all mopey instead?" Selena countered, amused. "I can do that, if you want." She hunched over and scowled, looking a lot like Léan having one of his hissy fits. "Grah."

"You know what I mean," Glory replied, giggling a bit. "Something has you disturbingly happy and I'm curious."

"Well. I don't want to tell anyone until everything is confirmed. But I'll keep you posted," Selena promised, mysteriously. "It's...well, yeah, it is something major. For me, anyway."

"You are extremely not fair," Glory said. "I want details, darn it!"

"You can have them. Later." Selena shoved one of the strawberries she'd bought today in her mouth, defiantly. "Good things come to those who wait."

"Fine, then," Glory huffed, more for just drama than anything. "On another note, I'm not sure if I told you already or not, but I don't need scuba gear anymore." She said it matter-of-factly, as if she was just commenting on it, in case anyone overheard.

"Eh?" It seemed Selena didn't know anything about changing humans, or anything of the like. "You gave up scuba-diving? Are you just staying on land, now?"

"Kind of the opposite, actually," Glory hedged, trying to make her get the hint. "I wasn't kidding when I said I had to hustle down to the Gulf... And that I managed to get myself trapped on the wrong side of an aquarium."

Selena blinked. She didn't seem to be fully understanding. It was too much for her to grasp at the moment. "...Um...?"

"Remind me to actually tell you flat-out when there aren't so many people around," Glory finally said. Trying to nudge her onto the truth wasn't working, obviously.

"Okay, then." Selena still seemed puzzled, but quite curious. She finished up her lunch in peace, heading off to dump her trash in one of the bins.

"Trust me, it's interesting, if nothing else," Glory said. "If nobody was around to overhear, I'd just tell you now, but..." She shrugged. "It's no big deal."
