"There are still two issues with going to school," Glory pointed out. "First issue: school involves a lot of reading. All the time. Second issue: I graduate in a few months, and then I'm done. There's no point in enrolling for three months or so." She didn't want to get up, she was too comfortable, but she made herself roll out of the bed.

Léan frowned slightly. "...Ah. To fit in in the human world, I will need to learn how to properly read..." he realized, scratching his head. "...Oh." He perked up. "Perhaps Lleu can teach me..."

"Maybe," Glory agreed. "You're welcome to any of the books on my shelf, though you may or may not like them. Just don't get them wet." She ran her fingers through her hair and graimaced. "Ugh, my hair needs to be washed..."

Léan made a face. "Trying to self-teach out of water will not be good. I would be better off with Lleu...knowing him, I'll get in the water and find him with his own books. Ours are waterproof, rare, and usually made of stone or clay..."

"Have at it, then," Glory replied. She kind of wanted to get her hands on those books... She enjoyed reading.

Léan chewed his lip, and swung his legs over the side of the bed. He managed to get up and stand up on his own, but the moment he attempted to walk, he nearly fell, and sat back down, giving up.

Glory held out her hand, offering to help him up.

"Walking is difficult," she said. "It looks easy, but if you're just learning, it's difficult. It's a combination of shifting your weight from side to side while moving forwards."

Léan took it, pulling himself up. His knees wobbled a bit. He would need to walk and exercise his legs more, so they would get used to holding up his weight. "That...sounds confusing," he muttered, mystified.

"You're asking me to describe an action I don't even notice most of the time," Glory pointed out. "The only thing I notice less is breathing. Come on, one foot in front of the other. My bedroom is approximately five steps wide, maybe six."

Léan kept attempting to move both legs at the same time, like he was used to moving his entire tail at once underwater. He was not used to having two limbs below his waist.

Glory noticed this.

"It doesn't work that way," she commented. "I know you've seen people walking around, and I spent all summer jumping across the rocks."

"I know, I know...I'm not used to moving any other way..." Léan reminded her, gingerly reaching one leg out and taking a step. He didn't pull the other one forward, since he was not at all steady on his feet.

Glory stayed next to him, ready to offer help if he needed it.

"That's half of it," she encouraged. "Now shift your weight forward onto that foot and bring the other one forward the same way."

Léan groaned. "This is difficult," he complained, as he moved his other leg forward. He managed to bring it down, but was very off-balance. He would need a lot more practice.

"It gets easier," Glory said. She grinned and teased, "you didn't hear me complaining when you were teaching me, did you?"

Léan scowled, but he did stop complaining. He didn't take any more steps, since he felt like he was going to fall over. He stayed where he was.

"Come on," Glory said, "let's get you outside. You'll be more comfortable back in the water."

"All right," Léan agreed. He leaned heavily on her, and attempted to pull his own weight in walking. That did not work out so well, but he was able to stay up with her assistance.

Glory didn't mind helping him outside. He was obviously tired, and she could understand why. Air was much less dense than water, and far less buoyant.

Léan was happy to get back into the water, but he was in pain as soon as his tail began to reappear. Just slight pain, though. It would never hurt again, the transformations.

Once he was back in the water, Glory stretched and fought back a yawn. She would love to go back to bed and sleep for a while, but she'd already missed too much school. Any more, and they'd hold her back a year.

"I need to go get ready to leave," she said.

Léan nodded. "All right. I will see you later," he murmured, quietly. He was sad to see her go. But he knew she had to go. He dipped underwater, and sought out Lleu. He would ask him if he could teach him how to properly read English.

Leaning down, Glory gave him a kiss.

"I'll be home later," she said. "I need to do that shopping after school, so it'll probably be after that."

Léan was saddened that she wouldn't be home as quickly, but semi-excited to actually have clothes to wear out of water. He popped back up to return her kiss, and then dipped down once more to find Lleu.

Glory went back inside and got ready for school. She got the feeling that the day wasn't going to be all that interesting, at least not at school itself. She managed to get into her first class on time, and slid into her seat.
