"Still." Léan didn't say anything more, as he settled down to nap for a while. He had a feeling they would be woken up by one of her parents when they returned.

Glory didn't argue with him anymore. She snuggled in and rested her head on his shoulder, using him as a pillow, and drifted off to sleep.

Léan soon followed her to sleep, quite relaxed despite the fact that her raging parents could return at any given moment...

Glory slept pretty peacefully, until her light sleep was interrupted by soft talking. Opening her eyes, she wasn't too surprised to see her parents a little ways off. Gently, slipped out of Léan's hold and went to go talk to them. She wasn't looking forward to it, but it had to be done.

Léan stirred the moment she moved, reaching out and grabbing her arm before she could get away. He shook his head a few times, to wake up, and then peered around. Upon seeing her parents, his mood drooped miserably, but he budged himself up and began to swim beside her, meaning to go with and help.

"I was actually going go let you sleep " Glory said softly to him. "I can handle this, don't worry about it."

Léan held her hand, reassuringly. "I'd like to help. I don't want to make you do this alone..."

Truth be told, she didn't want to do it alone, anyways, but she also didn't want her parents getting angry at him for something that wasn't even completely his fault.

Léan squeezed her hand, and then quietly propelled them forward, toward her parents.

Glory went with him, already resigning herself to getting shouted at. She didn't see this ending well at all.

"You needed to talk to us, Glory?" Clarissa asked. Glory hesitated, but nodded. Clarissa gave her the 'well?' look. Glory hesitated again, trying to figure out how to break the news. She didn't notice when one of her hands went to touch her stomach, but she realized it when her mother's eyes narrowed, then widened. She could see her mother coming to the right conclusion, and nodded a bit.

"Note that we just had an entire conversation without saying a word," she pointed out, trying to inject a little humor. "I think we're improving."

Léan did not lighten the mood. Instead, he bowed his head slightly, a submissive and apologetic gesture--if Clarissa didn't get it, Azilis, next to her, certainly did. After all, it had been his fault. He'd known...he'd known, and he'd allowed something so important to slip his mind.

He said nothing. This was a respectful action.

Azilis didn't say anything. He wanted to see how his mate would react, first. Personally, while he thought they were a bit young, he wasn't all that angry. They were still adults, after all. He was definitely more laid-back than his mate.

Clarissa, on the other hand, was stunned. She had no idea how it could have happened. Well, no, she knew exactly how it happened.

"I thought you were more responsible than that," she finally said. Glory's shoulders tightened a bit.

"You're one to talk," she replied before she could stop herself. "I can do basic math, you know, I know how old you were when you had me."

"Don't take that tone with me," Clarissa snapped. Glory couldn't help but flinch a bit. She knew that her mother would be angry, but she still didn't like being yelled at.

Léan's eyes narrowed, and he shifted himself slightly in front of Glory, shoulders raising up a bit. A quiet, tiny little growl was rumbling out from deep within his chest. It was a simple warning growl.

"Can we all speak civilly instead of raising our voices? Thank you..."

He seemed relieved that Azilis was being laid-back...two hysterical parents were worse than just one...

Azilis laid a hand on Clarissa's shoulder.

"Clary..." he said softly. He knew very well what would happen if she got upset, especially if their daughter's mate was as protective as he seemed.

Glory shook her head a bit.

"No," she said, "I knew this was a bad idea..."

Léan quietly reached back and wrapped his hand around hers, squeezing reassuringly. He really wanted everything to be all right with her mother...and he wouldn't interfere anymore than he felt he had to. He glanced back at her, over his shoulder. His eyes were soft.

Glory held onto his hand gratefully, but she didn't want to deal with her mother anymore.

"Come on," she said softly. "We're not going to get anywhere like this."

"Where do you think you're going?" Clarissa asked.

"Back inside," Glory replied shortly. She was getting upset, though she didn't know why. It wasn't as if fighting with Clarissa was anything new, it shouldn't have been enough to upset her.

Léan sighed, and then shifted in front of her fully, wrapping his arms around her and enveloping her in a warm, gentle hug. "Calm down," he soothed, quietly, placing a hand on the back of her neck. "...Do you want me to take care of the talking...?"

Glory hesitated, and then nodded as she cuddled closer to him.

"I don't think I can without making things worse," she murmured.

Léan nodded, and then pressed his cheek to hers, nuzzling affectionately. "Perhaps you should go inside...have something warm to drink, and relax for a while. I'll follow you once we're finished talking."

"Are you sure?" Glory asked as she nuzzled him back. "I don't want to leave you out here alone..."

"I will be fine. I'm capable of handling myself," Léan assured her, giving her a soft kiss on the cheek. "Go on inside. Relax, and do something enjoyable..."

"Alright..." Glory gave him a kiss, and then made her way back to shore. She didn't like leaving him to deal with her parents on his own, but she didn't think she could hang around without making things worse.

Léan waited until she was out of sight before turning back to her parents. He seemed clueless on what exactly to say...but he was fairly sure that Clarissa had more than enough to say. He hoped she would be able to vent on him, instead of venting on her daughter.

Clarissa glared at him. Oh yes, she was still angry.

"I don't see how either of you could have let that happen," she snapped.

"It was my fault," Léan muttered, pointedly. He had no problem admitting it whatsoever. "Our kind...we cannot reproduce when it comes to, erm...things on land. Underwater, however...that is a different story. It slipped my mind. She, on the other hand, did not realize there was a difference."
