Glory saw what was happening and reached out a hand to steady them both.

"You're doing alright," she said. "Autumn seems to be calmer, if you want to try holding her instead? I can try to get Orion to settle down."

Léan looked miserable. "I am not doing all right. I'm terrible," he complained, slowly offering the boy back to her. Orion seemed to have a problem being held by him, for some reason.

"You're not doing terrible," Glory replied. She carefully handed him Autumn. "He's a little cranky, that's all. I'm sure you'd be in a bad mood, too, having a bunch of people poke and prod at you all night."

Léan shrugged, struggling to hold the other twin correctly. He seemed better with her, seeing as she wasn't kicking and whining like Orion was.

Autumn seemed content in his arms and didn't struggle at all. Obviously, she felt she was secure enough that she didn't need to move.

Glory tried to rock Orion softly, and murmured soothingly to him to try to calm him down. She held him close to her and swayed gently, trying to lull him to sleep.

Léan was still on edge, even though Autumn had relaxed. It would take him a long time to calm down.

Orion's fitfulness finally vanished after a few moments, and he curled up more to go to sleep. From the way he was acting, he probably had Léan's bad attitude about seemingly everything.

"He's definitely your son," Glory teased once Orion was sleeping again. "I think he inherited your perpetual bad mood." She glanced over at him. "See, you're doing fine. I think Autumn is even going back to sleep." Indeed, the newborn was cuddling closer to her father and drifting back off to sleep like her twin.

"Good. No more carbon-copies of Arcturus," Léan informed her, pointedly. He seemed to be paying as little attention as possible to Autumn at the moment. He didn't want to inexplicably panic again.

"Good point," Glory replied. Leaning over, she gave him a kiss. "See, you're doing just fine holding a baby. She's not squirming, she's not crying, and you're not freaking out."

"...Still a nervous wreck," Léan pointed out, his voice a low mutter. He was still twitchy, and unable to stay still. He hadn't calmed down just yet.

"But you're still doing alright," Glory pointed out. "You'll get more comfortable soon, I'm sure." She was nervous, too, but it was wearing off gradually.

Léan shrugged. "We'll see," was all he said. He was still skeptical that he would making anything more than a terrible parent.

The two sat in silence for a little bit with the children, until there was a knock at the door and Clarissa came in.

"Hey," she said softly. "I had a talk with the people in charge, once all the paperwork is in order, we can get ready to leave." Glory raised an eyebrow.

"How did you manage that one?" she asked. She'd expected to be there at least another day, if not two.

"I might have made them lose their trains of thought once or twice..." Clarissa hedged. She went over to the bed and sat down on the edge. "Oh, they're beautiful..."

Léan was staring off into space, seeming distracted. He was uncomfortable holding Autumn, still, and was tempted to offer her to Clarissa for now. But he didn't say anything.

Clarissa didn't make any move to hold either of the newborns. She figured she would get enough time once they were all home.

Glory noticed that Léan was distracted and leaned over a bit.

"Is everything alright?" she asked softly.

Léan jumped, almost slipping up and dropping Autumn. He caught himself, though...and he just shrugged, not really knowing what to say about how he felt.

Autumn woke up and started fussing at the sudden jolt, but when she realized she was still being held, she gradually calmed down again. She was turning out to be a fairly laid-back child.

Léan did not seem happy holding her, however. He was too panicky, and was liable to drop her if he held her for any longer.

Glory noticed he was getting jumpier.

"Hand her to my mother," she murmured softly to him. That way, he wouldn't have to be nervous anymore, and Clarissa could meet one of her grandchildren.

Léan was more than happy to oblige, holding Autumn out awkwardly to Clarissa. His hands were unsteady, and his jumpiness was not subsiding. He didn't seem to feel very well, either--his nervousness was making his stomach churn.

Clarissa took Autumn gently, holding her close and cooing to her.

Autumn fussed a little in protest at being passed around so many times, but she eventually settled down again and went back to sleep.

Glory reached out and took one of Léan's hands.

"Relax," she said softly. "It's okay."

Léan laid back down, curling up and closing his eyes. He held her hand tightly. To get rid of his jumpiness, he was probably going to have to sleep for a long while...there was really no other way to calm him down short of sedating him.

Glory kept holding his hand. It would be easier for him to calm down once they were home and she could look after the twins properly.

Léan rested his head on her shoulder, using her for a pillow, and rested. He didn't want to sleep...it was rude, with other people in the room. So he just dozed.

Glory let him doze against her for a while. She knew by now that it was the best way for him to unwind and start to relax.
