"Look, they all seem so lost without their leader," Glory said in a low voice, knowing he could hear her. It was meant to be a joke, and she hoped that he took it as such. Even he looked a little lost, but she figured it was for a different reason, since she was fairly sure he didn't even like Selena.

Viktor snorted, amused. "I hope they get lost..." he muttered. "Lost off a cliff, that is."

He was also joking, but he sounded somewhat serious. He didn't like Selena and her friends, it seemed.

Glory snerked a bit, covering it with a hand.

"Yeah, really," she said. "Poor things don't have enough brain between them to fill a bottle cap. Now, I could be really mean and say that if Selena jumped from the sea cliffs, they would follow, but it's probably true."

"It is true," Viktor drawled quietly. His expensive-looking touch screen cell phone was out in his lap, so he obviously wasn't paying attention to the lesson. "They're mindless drones..."

"Nice smart phone, by the way," she murmured. "I hear those things can do everything but mix a margarita."

"Thanks. It really isn't all that smart. It eats away my monthly income and my electric bill." Viktor poked at it, idly. "I wish it could mix a margarita. I could start my own bar business."

"My grandmother is paying for my phone bill until I start bringing in paychecks," Glory replied. "But like I said, her savings won't last forever. Especially with winter coming. I'm hoping to be able to help out with the heating bills, to ease the strain on her."

"I pay for almost everything on my own," Viktor informed her, seemingly in the middle of texting someone. "Except the car. That was a gift from my parents, for my birthday, so they pay for those bills..."

"My car was used to begin with, so I was able to get it cheap," Glory said. "It was a gift from Nana, when I was finally allowed to live with her. It's an old junker, but I'm kind of fond of it, you know?"

Viktor chuckled. "Old junker...that's a term I haven't heard before," he informed her, amused. "My car was expensive. I'm not sure how expensive, but...there was a rather large price tag on it."

He paused. "You're new here, aren't you? What has made you hate Selena so quickly? I can understand dislike, but you seem to genuinely loathe her..."

"It's something of a twisted little story," Glory replied. "I somehow made friends with someone she doesn't like, and she doesn't like him with the white-hot intensity of a thousand suns. Thing is, she was the one who decided that she didn't like him, because he was perfectly happy with her, so when I made friends with him, she lumped me into the 'white-hot-intesity' category, and I'm perfectly happy to return any sentiments she dishes out to me." She blinked. "And that was a very long sentence."

"Mm." It seemed Viktor was running through the list of people in his mind whom Selena had a valid reason to hate. He had indeed met Léan, as a human, when Selena was with him...perhaps he remembered him.

"I think she's got herself set on trying to make my life miserable," Glory added. "So I've been kind of paranoid about my lockers and my car, just in case she tries anything."

Viktor chuckled. "She'd normally try to pin those sorts of things on me. I don't normally go through with it." He shrugged. "The most she'll do is glue your locker shut or key your car...unless she finds someone else willing to go through with criminal mischief."

"Then she'll have to do better than that," Glory asserted as the bell rang. "I reduced a girl to tears in my last school, and I can do the same to her if she tries anything more than pranks."

Viktor snorted, amused, as he stood up, gathering up his things. "If you want to make her cry, just start talking about her mother selling it off on a Las Vegas street corner," he offered, pointedly. "Because it's fact, and she's ashamed of it...it's easy to make her cry. She cries over everything."

He paused. "Want to walk together to woodshop? Though, you may have to deal with the posse stalking us..." Selena's friends were standing by the door, staring at the two of them incredulously.

"Ignore them, they'll get bored," Glory replied. She tucked the blackmail away in the back of her mind for use in an extreme situation. She wasn't about to use it without a good reason, but it was good to have it all the same. "I don't think I'm one to talk, since the courts decided my mom was an unfit parent and my dad probably doesn't know I exist."

Viktor edged off towards the door, looking amused when the posse scuttled away from them. "Selena's mother was an abusive prostitute...her father was her mother's pimp. So, I don't know which is worse." He shrugged, heading off down the hallway.

"Hey, I consider myself one of the lucky ones," Glory said. "The judge initially placed me with my aunt, but I kept running away to Nana's, and the judge finally gave up and placed me with Nana. I'm lucky to have her."

"Eh..." It didn't seem like Viktor was big on family. "I could live on my own, in all honesty...and not worry about my family. I never even talk to my parents..."

Glory shrugged. There wasn't much she could say to that. She often wondered what it would be like to have both of her parents, and to have them be normal, but she enjoyed living with Nana.

"You're probably the luckiest of all," she said as she slid into her seat in shop.

Viktor got his goggles on and got to work, setting up their project like he had before. He was shaping it only slightly on the bottom, trying to round it a bit. "Money doesn't buy happiness," he murmured, after a moment. "I haven't spoken to my parents in over a month. Not one word. The last time I spoke to them...it was me telling my father I was going on a trip with friends for a while. He didn't even respond to me, so...I don't know."

He shrugged as he worked. "I'm going to make a canoe for the project. You care what I make?"

"I don't mind," Glory replied, referring to the canoe. She would probably end up making something for Nana, though she wasn't sure what. Maybe a small jewelry box or something similar.

"I wasn't talking about your money, you know," she said after a few moments. "You have parents. That's better than quite a few people, I'm sure."

"All right, then..." Viktor worked a bit more on shaping it, doing everything by hand. "It's no good having parents when they don't care," he replied, solemnly.

"Maybe," Glory agreed. "Anyways, off this depressing topic. Why are you making a canoe?"
