"I'm not all that fond of warmer weather, to be honest," Glory replied as she pulled out of the parking lot. "I always like the colder weather. But lately the warmer weather has been growing on me."

Selena nodded, resting her head against the seat's headrest. "I was born and raised here, but I spent six years of my childhood in Panama," she mumbled. "My mother moved back up here before I turned thirteen...the need for warmer weather is understandable."

"For the moment, I prefer to drink my water, not breathe it," Glory said. "Humidity and I don't get along. It makes things stick where things aren't meant to be sticking, and makes it hard to even brush my hair out."

"I don't mind it being a little humid...overall, I don't care for too much humidity, though. I prefer...Arizona-like weather. Nice and warm, and hot, but drier," Selena reasoned, yawning halfway through her explanations.

"Bah, you and your hot weather," Glory scoffed teasingly. She pulled up to Selena's house. "Go on and get whatever you need, I'll wait here."

"I like it hot," Selena joked, grinning, before bolting out of the car towards her house and slipping inside. She hoped her mother wasn't home.

Glory waited for her, absently tapping on the steering wheel. She didn't think it would take Selena too long to gather her things... After all, Glory herself was able to put together a few changes of clothes at the drop of a hat, if she needed to, and she didn't doubt that Selena could do the same.

Selena was out in a few minutes' time, with a light blue gym bag full of clothes and other things she would need. She also still had her backpack with her. She shoved everything into the back seat and then sat down in the passenger seat, sighing. "Okay, I'm ready."

"Got everything you need?" Glory asked, mostly rhetorical. She knew Selena would have grabbed everything she could think of. Glory would have done the same. Doing a quick K-turn, she made her way home.

Selena nodded, knowing that if she forgot something, it probably wasn't that big of a deal. She watched the scenery pass by outside.

Glory pulled smoothly into her driveway and turned off the car.

"Come on in, make yourself at home," she said as they went inside. She dropped her things by the door. "I'll be right back, I just need to head out back for a bit."

"Okay..." Again, Selena sounded quite wary. But, she sat down on the sofa, comfortably, and patiently waited for Glory to return.

"Like I said, make yourself at home," Glory said. With that, she headed outside to the beach. "I'm home," she called.

Léan was basking in the shallows. It looked like he'd just woken up, and he sure was sleepy, but his tail swished back and forth excitedly when he saw her. "Did you have a good day today?" he asked, curiously. He seemed to have no inkling that there was something suspicious going on.

"I did," Glory replied, "but I won't be able to spend much time out here today. Selena is over, so we're going to stay inside."

The change in Léan was almost immediate, and somewhat startling. His tail slowed, and then gradually dropped back into the water. His shoulders went up to his chin, and he suddenly became self-conscious, pulling back a bit into deeper water and making himself as small as possible. He wrapped his tail around himself, expressionless, and...worried?

"...That's probably for the best," he admitted finally. His current emotions were unclear...

"That's what I figured," Glory agreed. "I know what it's like to need to be away from home for a night... I'll make sure we stay inside and everything. I just wanted to give you a heads-up." She could see the conflict on his face, and it twisted her heart. He deserved to be happy... The best she could do was keep the source of his distress away from him.

Léan's eyes were fixed on the rippling water around him. It seemed like he would be alone again. Archie and Damon were nowhere in sight--it appeared that they'd gone under the rocks to take a nap. That option wouldn't be available to Léan, seeing as he'd slept all day. He nodded, slowly.

Glory bit her lip. She wanted to go and hug him and make him feel better. He looked so upset...

"I'm sorry," she said softly.

Léan inhaled, then exhaled and glanced back up at her, looking calm. "You don't have to worry about me. I'll be fine," he assured her, firmly. His tone was firm, but, of course, that probably wasn't the complete truth. "I'll occupy myself."

"I do worry about you, though," Glory replied. Teasingly, she added, "the last time I left you unsupervised, I had to bandage you up because you dragged back a fish bigger than you."

Léan cracked a grin, but it didn't last as long as his grins usually did--it faded rather quickly. "I'll watch where I'm going if I decide to wander..."

"If the water wasn't so cold, I would definitely give you a hug," Glory said, "but the water is really kind of cold. I get the feeling that this winter is going to seem very long..."

Léan nodded slowly, stretching his arms out slightly. He heaved a great sigh. "It's all right. I wouldn't want you getting ill because of me." He fell into silence, then, wrapping his arms around himself.

"Take care, alright?" Glory said. "I would say that things should be back to normal soon, but I'm still not sure where normal is."
