"Listen. After that punk left, he left Selena in complete depression, for nearly over a month. It was sickening. And I want to talk to him. Just tell me where he is, and then I'll leave you both alone," Viktor grumbled. "I want him to explain why he left..."

"Wait, you mean that guy that Selena said she dumped?" Glory asked, mostly playing dumb. She wasn't surprised that there was more than one story. "She told me that she left him, not the other way around."

"She did leave him. She told me she left him. But she wouldn't tell me why, and she got upset whenever I brought it up. I just wanna talk to him." Viktor seemed like he knew every part of the story, except for the reason Léan left...and what he was.

"And you really think that he would be in Hawaii?" Glory deadpanned. "I don't think the world is quite THAT small."

"I heard him," Viktor repeated, coldly. "I heard his voice. He's here."

Léan, in his panic to hide, had hidden in a cave with the small shark...but there was no exit other than the way he'd used to come in, and that involved going back up, and being seen for sure by Viktor.

"And I still say I'm the only one who's been to this beach, at least since we got here," Glory replied. "The beach is deserted enough that I think I would notice another person hanging around."

"Lies. I heard a conversation going on." He put a foot into the water, looking around. "Must be in one of the caves..."

"Out of curiosity, what brought you out here in the first place?" Glory asked, trying to distract him a bit. "Last I checked, the good swells were on the other end of the island."

"Caught a rogue wave, hurt my ankle. Staying out of the rough water for the next twenty minutes or so," Viktor replied, taking a few more steps into the water.

"And you couldn't stay out of the water on another beach?" Glory asked.

"It's not rough here..." Viktor's suspicion had peaked. He turned to her, waist-deep in the water. "You're trying to distract me, aren't you? What is it you're trying to distract me from?"

"You were kind of interrupting my sunbathing," Glory replied. "It was nice and quite before you showed up."

"You were talking to someone, not sunbathing," Viktor corrected, with a frown. "Now, what is it, really? Just tell me what the big issue is."

"Even if there was something," Glory snapped finally, "It's not like I would tell anyone. Still kind of an outsider in town, you know."

"If you're friendly with me, you're not an outsider," Viktor informed her, smartly. "Just tell me what the problem is." He began to swim around, peeking under rocks for possible tunnels under them.

"The problem is that you're poking your nose into things that shouldn't be poked into," Glory snapped. "Ignorance is bliss for some people, you know."

"Not for me. Knowledge is bliss for me," Viktor retorted, peeking under the rock Glory was sitting on. "Ah, there's a tunnel here..."

Léan, hidden in the back of this tunnel with the shark, curled up into the darkness, trying to stay out of sight.

Without missing a beat, Glory slid off the rock and into the water, in front of the tunnel. The rough edges of the rocks scraped her skin, but she ignored it.

"Enough," she said.

Viktor stopped where he stood. "...Just tell me the truth. What am I going to do, honestly? I'm a mellow guy. I'm not going to hurt him. I just want to know why he left, what happened to him."

"I'm not going to say a word," Glory said. "And to be honest, you can't make me."

"I'm not trying to make you, I just want to talk to him," Viktor informed her, putting his hands up in the air. "Let me talk to him." He could tell, now, by her actions that he really was under there.

"And if I said no?" Glory replied. "Like I have been?"

"Look, I don't want to fight you, and I don't want to hurt him. Just let me talk to him," Viktor pleaded, frowning. "I want to know the whole story."

"And I say that would be a really bad idea," Glory replied. She was stubborn when she wanted to be, and she wasn't about to let Viktor through unless Léan wanted her to.

Léan, though he was not good with writing English, reached out, surreptitiously, and, using his pointer finger, wrote out the following sentence on the back of her ankle. 'Viktor is a laid-back man. It is up to you whether you let him see me or not...I...I don't mind telling and showing him the truth. Question him first...see if he is trustworthy in your eyes.'

"Why is that?" Viktor asked, warily.
