"Interesting," Glory replied. "I guess it makes sense, though, since water takes up more than half the earth's total surface. Humans have to live practically on top of one another because there's limited space."

"Ah, yes, you think you own the world, but actually, we can traverse more of it than you can," Léan teased, tail swishing back and forth. The movement seemed much less twitchy and frantic underwater--it seemed more elegant, playful.

Glory giggled.

"True," she said, "then again, we do have planes to get places, too."

"These...plane...are dangerous. The many sunken ones we find underwater are proof of that, no?" Léan reminded her, tilting his head. He seemed at ease. The way he spoke about his world was strange...like he admired it, but only parts of it...

"Sunken planes?" Glory asked. "You sure they aren't ships or something? Most of the time, when planes go down, especially on water, they disintegrate into pieces."

"Oh, no. Sunken ships are rather common, usually small ones. But I have found planes. Mind you, they aren't whole...parts, and such...but I have found planes," Léan assured her, nodding. "There was a nearly whole one by my home city...when I was growing up."

"Interesting..." Glory said. "I might be able to do some research on which flight it was. There has to be a list somewhere." She shrugged a bit. "Flying's not dangerous, though, as long as everything works how it should."

Léan chuckled. "You mean, it can be dangerous but isn't usually dangerous. Sorry for poking at specifics, I'm rather bored..."

He paused suddenly, then glanced at the door.

The doorknob was being turned, and someone was trying to get in--it was locked.

"H-hey, Glory...can I come in?" It was Selena, and she sounded very nervous.

Getting up, Glory went and unlocked the door.

"Sorry, I didn't wnat anyone coming in while I was out on the beach," she said. "You can come in if you want, it's up to you. We're watching Food Network."

Selena took a deep breath and then stepped in. Her eyes were on the ground, and she didn't look up until she set her things down. Her eyes wouldn't leave the television. She sat on her bed, oddly quiet.

Glory glanced at Léan, not sure what to do. She would have offered to leave the room, but that wouldn't have solved the problem.

Léan had his eyes fixed on the shark, and was helping it learn to move around the tank. He glanced back at Glory and shrugged, clueless. He wasn't sure what to do.

Glory sighed.

"Selena, come with me," she said, getting up. The least she could do was explain what was going on.

Selena blinked, then stood up, fixing her eyes on the door. She didn't seem frightened...just anxious and a little wary. "All right..."

"I figure I should at least explain what's going on," Glory said as they walked outside. She kept a wary eye on the shoreline, just in case. "Aside from the shark, which I DO want to take home."

"Okay...this sounds like it's going to be weird, so blunt is better," Selena informed her, half-amused. She seemed all right now that she wasn't in the room."

"Alright," Glory said. "Well, long story short, somehow his father managed to follow us here, he hates any and all humans, I'm pretty sure he tried to drown me earlier, and neither of us are going back into the water until we get home, and even then it might not be safe." She grinned a bit. "Even that's kind of a long story."

"You should still be able to have fun while you're here, though..." Selena trailed off. "By the way...Viktor told me that you showed him Léan. That's actually a big plus for you, if you want to go swimming with him...there's an indoor pool here, and if you ask him nice enough, he may close it off so you two can still have a kind of vacation. There's an indoor and an outdoor pool, and they're connected by a little underwater tunnel--not too far under, so people can still duck under and get in the pool. That can be closed off."

"He didn't give me much choice in the matter, actually," Glory said dryly. "He came snooping because he heard us talking, and I wasn't able to get him to leave, though I tried."

"...Yeah, that sounds like him," Selena agreed, just as dryly. "You should talk to him about the pool, though. There aren't any windows in the room, though, so no sunlight...that's the only bad thing."

"Perhaps," Glory murmured. "I don't know what the chlorine will do to Léan, though. Chlorine isn't exactly a gentle element."

"It doesn't affect humans all that much in a pool...and he's basically half-human," Selena mused. "If anything happens, it'll probably be to his tail. Maybe you should take some scales or something and go drop them in the pool, to test them?"

"I'll ask about it," Glory said. It was an intriguing idea, but chlorine was basically poison, so she'd have to find out it it was worth it.

"Okay. Um...I think I'll head back down to the beach for now. Ask Viktor about the pool and see if it's all right with him as a possible idea." She was still uncomfortable with Léan, it seemed.

"I'll understand if you want to move to a different room, Selena," Glory said. "Trust me, I totally won't be offended or anything, especially since I kind of sprung this on you as it is."
