It’s the year 3210. Another Ice Age has overtaken the Earth. Civilization has been, for the most part, decimated. People have become nomadic, taking refuge in small groups or on their own in small caves, hand-built igloos, and the occasional abandoned home.

Temperatures are always below freezing. Death is possible at any moment, so you need to have shelter.

This new world is called Thaw. Ironic enough. Welcome to your freezing nightmare…

Before the Ice Age she wanted to become a dancer when she was older. She started college but had to drop out once her parents had split apart. After the Ice Age she was alone but not fearful. She is now looking for a group to join but does not entirely trust anyone fully yet.

Story Of My Life… : Skye was born into a clan of Kitsune, who valued their family more than anything else. When the snow came, the clan stuck together, huddling and wrapping each other in their tails to keep warm, even though they could survive in cold weather. Abruptly, a pack of wolves descended on the clan, on the hunt for food. The two species collided and Skye blacked out during battle. She awoke hours later inside a small cave, her clan -- and the wolf pack -- gone.

Jamie walks around quietly, in just a t-shirt and jeans. He doesn't seem to mind the cold though. Either that, or he's just to numb too notice. As he walks he looks around for people to be around. Jamie isn't really a social person, but he's insanely bored so he wants something to do. "I hate white. The color makes me twitch," he mutters, to himself.

Danasse dances around contently. "Snow, snow!" she sings, cheerily. She's completely content with the wipe out. Anyone who saw her would think she was insane. She's currently holding a small violin case and dancing around. Her light blue hair is down around her waist and she's grinning like an idiot. But, who cares? She was happy for snow, something she rarely saw where she came from. Now, if she could just find a friend...

In the distance, Shadow saw some hope.

There was a young boy heading in this direction. He perked up a bit, glancing around his makeshift settlement to make sure everything was in order. He didn't want to scare away his new guest.

The cold had really gotten to her. She couldn't go on anymore...

Facefirst in the snow, where she had collapsed three minutes before, Minerva could be seen from quite a distance because of her jet-black hair. She was insanely hungry and tired...too tired to get up...

Jamie perks up, seeing what looks like a settlement near by. He goes towards it, slightly wary, but too bored to care. Once he gets close enough he waves. "Hello."

Danasse dances around when she sees Minerva in the snow. "Oh, no!" she frowns and hurries over to her. She helps her sit up quickly and slips off her jacket. She puts it around Minerva and watches her carefully, to make sure she's not seriously hurt.

Underneath one of the small, makeshift houses--looking like they were made of discarded wood and the skins of animals--Shadow eased his way out. To anyone who ventured upon him, he looked quite lovely, and would try his best to draw people in. "Hello, there. I'm Shadow. This is the only settlement for miles--you can come in, if you'd like."

With that, Shadow wriggled back into the small house. One could only crawl in and sit or lay in there--it was so small. But it was warm--there was a small fire burning in the middle of it.

Minerva was freezing. She almost looked like she was dead.

Jamie makes his way over to Shadow, almost tripping over himself. "Good to see my balance still fails," he mutters, to himself. "I'm Jamie," he says to Shadow, slipping in.

Danasse looks around quickly and helps Minerva up. She makes her way to a small rock cave-thing about three feet away from them.

He didn't bother telling Jamie that he was a vampire. He didn't exactly want to scare his new companion off--he missed being around people.

The inside was nice and cozy, but small. Shadow pulled down the flap he'd come out through. securing it back into the snow. He laid himself out across one side of the tent-like house, watching him. "What brings you out here?"

Minerva's breathing was ragged, but she was still breathing. If not a bit slowly. The cold air was not doing much for her...

Jamie shrugs. "Just wandering. Being alone sucks, and leads to boredom." He stretches as he says this, the blood flowing back into his arms.

Danasse gets them into the cave and begins trying to make a fire.

Shadow watched him, intently. "Hm...of course it does."

He couldn't help it. He loved to be around people...his thirst combined with the closeness that the house provided and the look of this boy was making him a bit jumpy. He tried to keep his eyesight on the fire.

As soon as she was out of the blowing wind, Minerva's eyes snapped open and she sat up, gasping for air and coughing.

Jamie nods, glancing around. "You built this yourself?"
Danasse watches her, as she tries to make the fire. "Are you all right?"

"Yes, I built this by myself," Shadow responded, still looking for a distraction. "Out of animal hide and old wood scraps. I keep my firewood dry in here." He motioned to the back of the little tent, where a pile of drying wood was laying.

Slowly, Minerva began to calm down.

"Yes. I'm fine," she assured the stranger, sighing.

"That's...epic," Jamie responds, for lack of a better word. He stretches again, and looks around more.
"That's good. I'm Danasse. What's your name?"

Raising an eyebrow at his use of the adjective 'epic,' Shadow curled up next to the fire, eyes closing contently. He was not all that content, though...it had been a while since he'd had actual human blood--he'd been living off animal blood. Now, in a nice warm abode with a human so close to him, so trusting...it was very difficult to keep himself in check.

The young woman sat up more, regaining her bearings. So she'd been dragged into this cave? It looked like good shelter, for now... "Minerva. Minnie," she informed her, running a hand through her hair.

Jake was walking around in the snow grumbling looking for somewhere to get warm "stupid snow" he mumbled as he looked around and saw a lot of it, then he saw a settlement in the distance he smiled and started running towards it yelling "hello!" he trip over every now and again and he got to front he was so warn-out that he fell face-first into the snow and couldn't be bother to get up so he sat there re-gaining his energy, when he was rested and energetic he stood up and walked into the settlement

Shadow wriggled his way back outside, towards the front to welcome the stranger. Two in one day? He couldn't believe his luck.

"Hello. And welcome," he greeted, politely. "My name is Shadow, and this is my home." He motioned to the other small, unused shelters like his. "You are welcome to any of these. This one is full. I can provide you with some dry firewood, if you can start the fire yourself and keep the firewood dry."

Jacky had flown some distance from the roost and even further from the last person she had seen. Her keen eye sight picked up on footprints in the snow below, they looked human rather than the large woolly beasts that now roamed the landscape. With the possibility of companionship and even that of food she brought herself low to the ground and darted behind a shadowing protrusion in the snow. Enough cover for her to quickly change to human-shape without notice. Stepping out she was hit with a blast of cold wind, shivering slightly she drew her feathery dress closer and began to walk along the footprints.

Jake stared at shadow and thought to him self "are you by any chance a vampire?" he asked getting ready to draw his blade "if you are im warning you, if you attack me i will kill you" he said while walking back towards one of the shelter and crawling in and making it more suiting for him

Shadow grinned toothily at him as he did so, knowing he would have to come back eventually for firewood. He was used to humans being wary of his kind--it was natural, of course.

Shadow slid back into his shelter and over towards the fur mat--almost like a rug--that he had laid out across the side. "This is where I sleep. There is enough room for you, as well, if you don't feel like moving to another shelter."

Jake slumped down making sure no-one was out side than he felt hungery so he snuck outside and out of the settlement, he started looking for prey when he saw a deer, so he snuck up on it and pounced on it then bit its neak, once he had hil fill he cut its head of with his sword and took it back to the settlement, then dropped it out side shadows door "dinners here if you want it" he said with blood still dripping from his mouth

Shadow poked his head out.

"Thank you very much," he mumbled, politely. He dragged it into his 'tent,' of sorts. For Jamie to cook and eat, of course. He was not thirsty. "Here." He set up his makeshift spit over the fire and handed him his hunting knife. He pushed the carcass over to him. "Cut a good piece off. It's yours."

Jake was content with his catch and was full so he went to his shelter and drew his sword, place next to him when he laid down and started to nod off into a deep sleep

The footprints seemed to lead to an area where several other set of tracks crisscrossed, both human footprints and animal alike. The higher frequency of tracks meant she was close to something. Jacky began to whistle as she moved about nonchalantly swinging her arms and trailing her feet, making patterns behind her in the snow. She was being noisy for a reason, things tended to either move away or towards noisy things, and that's just what she wanted. If it was a large beast she could just retreat, if it was a human than some of her problems would be solved.

Jamie eats slowly, almost nervously. He looks around for something to talk about as he does so. "Do you...have any family?" he asks curiously.
Danasse waves as she finally got the fire lit. "Success!" she crows, happily.

Shadow, who had gone to curl up in his makeshift bed, looked up.

"Family?" He spoke as if the word was foreign to him. "No. Not here, anyway. They're all dead."

Minerva watched her, still breathing slightly heavily. Hypothermia, maybe? She supposed she should just relax until she felt better...

A loud shout of "Success!" startled her and several small song birds, but that single word meant a person was near by. Picking up her pace, Jacky moved closer, now seeing the flickering of a small fire. As she got closer she could see that there was more than one person sitting near the flame. Hoping to get their attention before getting there and possibly frightening them Jacky called out.
"Hey! Are you friendly? Can I join you at your fire?"
