I go on it via Facebook. But it's more the new cafe game they have on there. People seem friendly enough. At least the ones I have talked to. But I agree with the price of items. And the fact that all the ones I really like in current events cost money. :(

No, it's not like Gaia and Menewsha. Sure, it's avatar based and you can dress it up, but the design and play format are so different.
Anyway, I love it; I'm on the English and the Japanese sites.

I tried, but I couldn't get used to it. It's really cute though, probably their avatars are among my top three favorites of all the avatar/forum sites I've seen. I still log on once in a while to check out what's new.

I feel like Tinierme has superior avatars and churns out a hell of a lot of limited items and sells them in a way which makes a lot of profit (gacha reminds me of gambling, you have no sure way you'll get the item you want) And while that sucks for us users it is very effective for them.
However Menewsha is superior in it's sense of community and forums, I can actually feel connected to people here whereas on TM I feel lost half the time despite having been a member for many months. It just lacks a way to keep users interested aside of the gatchas. When there is a Mene event I genuinely get excited to participate.
In short both sites are good but for different reasons.

I joined TinierMe like a month after it first started. :c I really liked it back then before G-Coins came out and when things were cheaper. The avatar/selfy is really cute and I LOVE the items, but...
The way they have it set up now, the newly released CC items all pretty much suck and if you don't buy GC you don't really get good items. And you can most definitely make enough CC and trade your way to what you want, but it's a VERY time consuming process and it takes a huge chunk out of your free time.
The profiles are kind of hard to customize if you don't know your way around coding or don't want to pay someone to do it.
The forums are really lacking and sometimes it's hard to find someone to talk to who's not just completely annoying. (Though I think that's more my personal opinion.) There's a lot of drama in the user base, too, which is something that I've never quite approved of on any site.
I don't really log in anymore because I don't have the time to keep up with all the events or make enough CC to do anything with.

Now after spending many months on TM, I completely agree that Menewsha is very much more community orientated, and very forum based by comparison, considering everything here basically takes place in the forums anyways o<o
TM does have it's community though, and it's not really in the forums - unless you want to include the trading forums, which are by far super active, forever fast paced and not really the place to be for a decent conversation -though a good place for fast quick attention-
I ended up finding the spirit of the community through the Diary system. I have over 800 friends on there - among them, only like 10% of the active ones use their diaries, but generally that's where I end up actually posting and socializing. There are a couple of other places where you can socialize too, but never as I would in people's Diaries. Diaries there are more like forum posts, except there's no organization or category rules. I've been wanting for TM to implement a system that would let me subscribe to a diary post just so I could go back to a particular one to see if there's more conversation. Prolly not gonna happen.
But yea, it's lame that the forums don't really get used - cause the community really is there.
Groups are pretty good, but again, the majority tend to lack people. My preference would be the proper use of forums. I'm hoping one day they'll finally organize and advertise it better. Most people who join up don't even realize forums exist until about 4-6 months later. I was one of those cases.

I have a tinierme...
But i don't remember the log in.
I wouldn't go on if I remembered anyways. The only way you get gold is by going to the towns, and the towns are just full of people standing around or trying to get to the chatplace. And the forums and groups are hardly ever active.
Plus, the way the avi's just kind of sway bothers me for some reason o-o

Not now days. You can get gold - and nifty amounts by playing the doki doki games. You can also get gold by playing the multiplayer games; trade medals for it. The site also frequently offers events that gives you random amounts for free, and you can also get coins from owning an active chibi pet and taking it to town.
Town may be full of some people standing around, but most time it's just people waiting for someone to say hello unless they themselves are the ones greeting. People also to there to fish too and to chat with friends. Sometimes events are held that require you to jump into town, like the scavenge hunt games.
The forums are generally not very active unless you're there to trade, but some groups are very active and social. Some of the groups with interest you might be looking for might not be very active, but the more general groups tend to be.

Yes. It's going away. FOREVER. It's upsetting because they won't give an explanation why. Throwing everyone's money away.

I got one. Sad to see it shutting down like it is even if I didn't visit it a lot.

Wow - I tried signing up for TinierMe when it first started and it never sent me an email confirmation so I just gave up. Now I'm glad I didn't. How do they shut down with no explanation and then take people's money? That's terrible!!

Sadly, it happens. =\ I am surprised that there's been no explanation though. Maybe they just weren't making as much money as they wanted.
Found this entry about it.

Seems they'll be keeping the Japanese one though; so there's that.

I did not hear about Tinierme until a whole forum about it shutting down was opened on Gaia Online. I am too late. Oh well, there are dozens of such sites on the Web now. Each of them has to offer something unique to survive. I wonder what made Tinierme go down the drain, though. The blabbing here as well as on Gaia suggests there was too much going on at once and it wasn't as user-friendly as some other sites out there, such as Menewsha.

I never even heard of the place until the shutdown...when a bunch of people from there showed up on Solia and they made a sticky about it.

It was basically just saying that a ton of refugees came to Solia. Other than that, all I saw was that they supposedly had financial problems.

I think the reason TinierMe closed was part financial problems, and part... well, apparently the gacha system was something akin to gambling, and the Japanese government cracked down. This page goes into a bit more detail about the latter, I think.
