Name: Alexander Aluri

Age: 25

Race: Human

Doctor Apperance

----

Alexander had been in this business long enough to know that tragedy was a part of everyday life. He was a doctor, the only hope that pitiful people who had some sort of sentimentality for life had. He had seen a lot of things that would render most individuals speechless, motionless and heartbroken. He had seen children die, mothers, wives, lovers, anything and everything. Today, he was being introduced to a new patient, Annabelle. Several of the doctors in the hospital had become acquainted with and touched by her story. He, however, was not to be impressed by this individual. He had never taken time to enjoy little things, there was no point in it. There was only one point in life: to survive. And stopping to appreciate menial things was not on his list of things to do. The man sitting in the chair was dark skinned with deep, chocolate eyes and hair that stopped just below his chin. He had a bit of facial hair, but not much. His hair was just as dark as his enchanting eyes. He was dressed in a pair of dress slacks and a gray, button up, dress shirt with a white tie. There was a pen wobbling back and forth between his fingers, and currently, his eyes were focused on a chart. His mouth was in a frown, although his lips had something of a sensual curve to them, and they were a perfect line again his face.

Annabelle was leaning against the window taking the scenery from out side the beautiful trees and the way the sun hit the flowers to make them shine beautiful like the beautiful creations that they were. Annabelle knew she was going to die in the matter of 3 very short years..... She was sick of asking why and not getting a good enough answer...So she stopped asking and started living. She Believed that when you died ( for those who were lucky enough) had to wait in a long line to get into to heaven and once you got in. God would walk up to you and ask you " what have you done in the time given to you on earth"
Annabelle planned on having an earful for him of how much she tried to make each day better then the last and more meaningful. Annabelle turn to the doctor as he wrote on her clip board " So Dr. Aluri....is it? Nice to meet you I am Annabelle smith...it is a pleasure to meet you"

The man did not look up from his clip board as he spoke to the girl in front of him. "You as well. What are we here for today, Annabelle? This is a terminal disease you have... I can examine you and prescribe you medication for the pain, and we can begin chemo-therapy, if you like, to slow the spread. If we will be doing that, we need to start as soon as possible." He stood from the chair, standing at a good six foot two inches tall. He looked down at the young girl before him. Most would have felt sympathy, but he had none. She, however, did not seem like the other patients. The rude ones with all of the questions that had been asked and answered a million times before. The ones who begged for sympathy and pity because life and luck did not favor them. He tucked the pen into the pocket of the long, white lab coat and turned his eyes onto the girl before him.

Annabelle that for a moment...Why would she bother to take the Chemo - therapy...if she was going to die anyway....?
" What is the point? .......If I am going to die anyway why bother ans waste my time with it....does it offer any hope that I will live a longer life but even then....Death will always be moments away for me..." She looked up at the doctor and then out of the window " I rather be pout there laying on the grass making wonderful memories instead of making painful ones in this room...."
Finally she pulled her gaze away from the window and what it contained outside. " What do you suggest I do?.....After all you are the one here with the PhD"

His expression hadn't changed, her mouth still in an everlasting frown on his face. "My suggestion? There is no hope for saving your life, this is true. And at the rate it is spreading, I'm sure you're aware, you don't have much time left at all. The point of Chemical Therapy would be to prolong your life, giving you more time to do the things you want, but it is painful. What I think you should do is irrelevant, as I do not care what you do, or how it will end." He was blunt, almost rude. But he was honest, and he had always been honest, and he would continue you be honest. He wasn't going to sugarcoat the bad news for this girl and give her any kind of hope when there was none to give. He stood, stationary, waiting for her response. He hoped this conversation wouldn't last long, as he had tests to run on her.

Annabelle felt the words cut threw her. " you know I have herd the very same thing very signal day of my life for 14 years but it still feels the same way it did the first day i herd it. Okay I will do the Chemical Therapy..when can we begin?" Annabelle sat down on the bed and waited for the doctor to respond but as she waited she got a real good look at the doctor he seemed young but old at the same time like he has never laughed a day in his life.....He seemed like the type who had his head in the book his who like and never once put the book down.

Meanwhile Annnabelle's mother Mary was outside waiting for her. She was tired of crying and blaming God for her Daughter's illness she just wished she had at lest 10 more years to enjoy here on earth..... Mary was never going to be ready to let her one and only baby go...

He approached her, taking her pulse he spoke as he was doing so. "We will begin treatment today. It is going to be painful, and no we cannot give you anything to quell the pain you are going to feel." he seemed very deadpan. People had different visions of him, but he didn't care about them at all. He drew a bit of blood and then wrote a few things down on his clipboard before turning and looking at his watch, he wrote something else down and looked up at her. "I'm going to run a few tests, the nurse will be in with a drip in a moment. You will be here for an hour once a day three days a week. Your mother will be informed. It was nice meeting you, Miss Smith." And he turned and left the room, glancing briefly at the mother before continuing to walk. A nurse stopped in front of Mary. "His bedside manners are awful, but he is a damn good doctor..." The female said, looking over towards the back of the man. "We'll be getting your daughter started on Chemo today. That is what I am doing now." And with this, the nurse went into the room, setting the drip up in her arm. "It is very important that you don't move this arm..." She stated, setting the remote for the television into her other hand. "Press the nurses button if you need me." She nurse said with a comforting smile.

Mary nodded she hated seeing her daughter in pain and wanted her to find peace on way or another. Mary walked after the doctor that had attended her daughter. " Excuse me doctor but how ill will my daughter get from the chemo...I mean won't she lose her hair and all?"

Back at the room Annabelle was happy at lest that the nurse had been nice to her. Once the nurse left she began to talk to herself " jezzz can that doctor be anymore of an asshole its like he does not even care about wither I live or die then why bother even being my doctor to begin with?...Why was he a doctor if he did not care for human life?"

Unbeknownst to her, the nurse was still in the room. "Dr. Aluri is rough around the edges. But he has seen a lot of tragedy. You will get used to him." She said with a meek smile.

He didn't turn to look at Mary, he continued walking. "She will not get very ill from the treatment. She will not lose her hair. We won't waste too much chemo-therapy on her. Treating it is foolish, but she is young." He passed a few vials of blood off to a nurse and wrote something on the clipboard and turned his cold chocolate eyes to the woman. Chocolate eyes were normally warm, but his were not. They seemed deep. Deep and empty.

Annabelle jumped from fear " hahahaha....your not going to tell him i called him an asshole right....I do not want to like take my arm off or something like that"

Mary was upset " I am sorry but I am starting to get the impression that you my child's doctor does not care wither she lives or dies?" Mary looked at him in disbelief how can a man who had vowed to do his best to try to save lives ......not care if they live or die......?

The nurse laughed heartily. "No. I'll keep that secret between you and me. He can be a jerk, to everyone. And even if he knew, I doubt he'd care, so you would probably still be alright." The nurse walked over and flicked the tube of the IV, clearing it of any bubbles.

Alexander turned towards the upset woman, quickly and harshly. His eyes were narrowed. "If I were to care, it would be useless. It is terminal, and too far gone. If I were to care for the life of this complete stranger, and emotionally attach myself, as you are suggesting I should be doing, there will be termoil when she does die. And I am a doctor. I have no time to grieve for anyone. Are we clear? If you do not like my methods, you are welcome to find another doctor." And he began to write more on the clipboard.

Annabelle laughed " I guess you are right" she laid back on the bed and stared up at the ceiling. " Can I ask you something......Why do I have to die at such a young age? ....I am not mad about I just wanted to do more thing like get wrinkles and complain about being to old...."

Mary looked at the young doctor and her eyes softened she knew that he had become hard so he would not get hurt.
" I understand doctor and I am sorry for my outburst.....please remain my daughter's doctor" Mary then walked back into the room her daughter was in.

She nurse's eyes softened when the question was posed. She sat down at the edge of the bed and placing her hand comfortingly on her legs. "I'm not sure, sweetheart. Sometimes these things happen, but maybe it's a good thing? You'll never know debt, or experience the pain of losing your mother, you'll never know how it is to be physically weak, at least not for decades... I am sorry..." Of course, she wasn't sure how to explain the sickness.

And Alexander was off. Running tests.

" That's alright. I have done many things at my young age that most people that live a full life will never get to do" Annabelle smiled at her. " Do me a favor.....Do not waste your life doing things you dislike when you could be doing the very thing that makes you feel the happiest person alive" Violate looked out the window the flowers were blooming and the birds were making there nests. Life was begging and ending all around her. she stopped and took a breath of fresh air and looked at the young nurse.

Mary walked in as soon as Annabelle had finished talking. " How are you feeling ?honey the doctor will be here any second now with your results " She sat next to her daughter and smiled at her as she spoke

The nurse smiled brightly as the mother came into the room and she patted Annabelle's leg. "I am happy with what I do, darling." And the nurse exited.

Moments later, Dr. Aluri returned. "Alright, the cancer is spreading as expected, but the Chemical Therapy should slow the expansion." He walked over and looked at the IV bag. Nearly empty. He turned and looked at her mother. "We need you to leave the room. If the Chemical Therapy were to leak into her muscle and you were here, you would be held liable."

Mary got up and kissed her daughter's forehead " bye honey" she then left the room with out another word.

Annabelle nodded and looked at the her mother as she left the room. Annabelle then turned her attention to the doctor.
* would it kill him to at lest smile....what a tight ass* Annabelle thought to her self. She then noticed his eyes something she had not before. without thinking out of the blue she stated " What are wrong with your eyes ?"

He quirked a brow at the question, seemingly annoyed. "Nothing is wrong with my eyes. Why do you ask?" He questioned, although what he wanted to say was kept in his mouth. There were several times that he had to hold his tongue from all of his patients. You would think he would be decent at this point at it. He was holing his clipboard at his side, waiting on her to answer. He could be pleasant for a few more minutes. She was almost done and then she would be out of his hair.

Annabelle toke a moment to answer the question as if she were trying to choose the right words to describe the point she wanted to get a across.
She had a soft expression as she spoke " Your eyes are empty like......they are missing something that most people have......you are missing that glow of happiness in your eyes....you are missing that very glow in your eyes that keeps us going everyday you are missing the glow that keeps your soul alive......" Annabelle looked back into the empty dead eyes.

His expression remained dead and unamused. His brow remained quirked and he finished with a grimace.
"I assure you, it is no light in our eyes that keeps us alive." He finished, raising the clipboard to write something down on it. He slipped on a pair of gloves and grabbed a cotton swab and a bandaid. He pressed the cotton swab against the area of skin where the needle entered as he slowly pulled the I.V. out. He placed the bandaid over the cotton swab and looked up at her. "Keep this on for about two hours and then it will be safe to take off. I will see you in two days." He spoke, standing and writing something down.

" You maybe right that the light behind the eyes is not what keeps us alive but the emotion behind it is....and if i can be so frank your eyes are emotionless......not even anger just nothing...." Annabelle laid back in the bed and closed her eyes tightly taking in all the air she could and then releasing it.

He moved towards the window, closing it and turning off the television before turning back to her.
"That's a foolish assumption. Apparently, it is not what keeps us alive, as I lack aspect and am still alive." He looked down at his watch and then towards the door before looking back at her. "We've had your mother sign the release forms, you're free to go." He noticed her breathing in deeply. He stopped and watched her. "Is there a problem?" He asked.

" Chest it is getting tighter....I do not know why?" She began to feel pain in her chest. " Why is this going on....." Annabelle passed out before she could finish what she was going to say next.

As soon as she mentioned her chest tightening, he was quickly approaching her, his hands outstretched and his clipboard and pen on the floor. He leaned her back and let the rail of the bed down before calling for the nurses. The nurse that had taken care of her before, he was screaming at.

When she awoke, he was standing there, writing a few things down and sending the nurse out the door in tears. He turned his attention towards her and approached, pulling out a flashlight and checking her pupils before listening to her heartbeat. There were fluids, two bags, leading into her arm. One in the back of her hand, the other in the crease of her elbow.

Annabelle slowly opened her eyes she felt very very weak. She looked up at the doctor as she saw the nurse leave crying. " Why is she crying what happened did she get hurt?" Annabelle was more concerned with what was wrong with the nurse then her own health.
