Yes, no baby in the academy.
Baby in the village, however. :')
Myrr will have 'fallen asleep' and then 'woken up again' as well.

Flux, seeing as you have probably read my tip, you may need to change your most recent post. A lot. I'm sorry, but it doesn't fit in with the flow of events. Last time I wasn't as well prepared for the plot point, and it all went haywire.

Just got home...
Tomorrow I don't think I'll have to work so I should be around.
Anyways, I read through the posts, but I'm super tired. I don't really get what's going on.
Can somebody explain this to me so I can bring Peyton in?

Ok, so from what I understand this current...event--for a lack of a better term--is a borrowed plot line from Dr. Who. I have never watched the show and I don't think it is fair that I should have to watch the show in order to understand what is happening. I refuse to let another player control my character and seeing as how this is not a Dr. Who role-play, I don't think I should be required to play this out as a Dr. Who episode.

Role-plays may borrow ideas and creatures, however, I think making everyone conform to play a certain way because that's how the characters in a tv show/book/video game/etc did it makes the role-play boring.

I see a text-based role-play, especially in a group role-play like this, is a collaborative effort to write a story. A unique story. A story that allows the players to play their respective characters as they think best--not being controlled by another player.

I don't think Flux should have to change her post because it isn't feasible for the sound waves to travel through the walls. The other characters on campus who haven't been played for a while will die in that case because they aren't being played to wake up.

I am taking features of this from Dr. Who, that I can confirm. But I am planning this, no, I have parts semi-planned out. I know what will happen in the end and the beginning. The bits in the middle are free to be moulded, but the whole idea of this one plot point is to have everyone working together. That is all I wanted, and that is what Darcy is about. Working with other people, to try and get everyone working the same way. I didn't mean to offend, but that's what I've been trying to do. Just for, you know, this short bit.

If I am, in your eyes, no longer to expand on this event then I will leave, and leave you to write your story, but all I was trying to do was to get everyone involved. Maybe it was the wrong way, I see that. All I have done is taken a feature, the Dream Lord, changed it to my needs and then built my kind of stupid idea around it. Perhaps I should've spent days and weeks trying to make my own no-good baddie, but then it would be ineffective. I have already tried making my own baddie, and last time it did it failed miserably, because I can't make up baddies. That is why my own little stories stop before I even introduce the baddie.

It's like building a car, but it's missing one screw. Suddenly, when it's supposed to work, it all falls to pieces.
I have tried to explain this before, when I wanted to introduce the plot point. Anna said that she was fine with it when I told her about it. I am not saying that this is going to take forever. It is a short blip in what is usually done. If you want, and I suppose it'd be best seeing the problems we have encountered, I can stop it now and scrap the idea I was going to have. That way everyone's happy and you don't have to listen to me anymore. We'll have a started and unfinished plot point, however.

I am not telling you to quit or saying that you can't borrow a "baddie" from a series you know. But I don't think it is fair to require every character to participate to get the end that you want. Everyone isn't going to work the same way.

I don't expect my young character who doesn't even know her powers to fight anyone else, let alone a "baddie". I had imagined that she would have to learn about her powers and then practice using them to gain control and eventually, use in battle. I assumed this upon reading the description of the role-play. I thought characters would be battling each other. If I assumed wrong, then I am sorry for misunderstanding the premise of the role-play.

I am sensitive to other players wanting my character to behave a certain way or to do something that they want without asking me before the situation arises. I am willing to work with you if you would tell me what you had in mind so we could work together to get what we both want. I am sensitive to this because I have been in many role-plays in which other players have controlled my character and it feels as though my character is no longer mine.

If you have an idea like this, could you bring it up in the OOC or send a PM so we can play it as desired as well as allowing me to be in control of my character?

Don't worry, I have consulted Annalesia about this. It's a major plot point, as nothing else is happening. I am sorry, but I need all of you to respond to the Dream Lord, especially if they are being put to sleep.

The idea of the alternate reality is this:

It is a perfect life, after the academy, and people are able to be with their families. Please don't say I'm ordering to do stuff, but that is the main idea, that a relative of Embeth turns up. (Or something like that.) Everyone seems happy. The rules of the worlds will be said by the Dream Lord, but here they are;

1. There are two worlds. One is real, the other is not.
2. There are dangers in both worlds.
3. If you die in the dream, you wake up in reality. If you die in reality, you die.
4. The real world must be chosen. Before you die, because it is near impossible to tell which is which.
5. You don't know you're dreaming when you're dreaming.
I had it all here, I thought.
I mean, in the dream worlds, each character can try and figure out which is which in any way they want. Just for the final climax, then. I just need co-operation for the last part. I know it seems selfish and all.

I get what you mean, Urbeth, I really do. You are in control of your character, aside from 'falling asleep' and 'waking up' again.
Otherwise, you are free to ponder this as you wish, I promise you.
Because, I couldn't control anyone else's character here. I don't know them, like you do. I always think that everyone who makes their own characters can often play them better than a pre-made one. It is easier to put yourself into the character's shoes, and it is simple to feel what the character is feeling, because the creator always 'knows' their character first hand.
I could try, not that I would, but it wouldn't work.

EDIT: Ah, Anna, your post didn't show up on my laptop until now. Well, basically, the Dream Lord has begun her game. They've all been in the other reality once. Megumi and Seraphin are married, and expecting a baby. This is a few years after graduating from the Academy. Darcy has come to visit them. They were talking, and then they 'woke up' in the Academy again. There is a storm, caused by Gamma rays. That is their deadly danger for that reality. (In the Academy.)
The Dream Lord reappeared to taunt and torment Darcy. I think that that's about it. ^^

A few tips from a table-top GM:
  1. Before an event is planned, the planner (normally the GM) must understand the characters involved. For example, the reasoning behind Quetzalcoatl leaving when Darcy showed up is:
    1. All information regarding the "attack" indicated a physical force involving more than one combatant using conventional weaponry.
    2. Quetzalcoatl does not have his weaponry ready yet. He's been trying to get it set up but people keep getting in his way.
    3. Quetzalcoatl's survival depends on a healthy amount of forethought and paranoia.
    4. Quetzalcoatl got the impression Darcy was the target of the attack.
    5. Quetzalcoatl currently considers Darcy a liability because she may know too much about him, thus he would rather let her be killed than risk himself, especially when he's unarmed; in fact, if Darcy were to die, that's one security leak closed.

Given these conclusions, Quetzalcoatl was not going to be anywhere near Darcy, and if Darcy persisted to follow, she might have been (or still may be) attacked by Quetzalcoatl.
  2. The best-laid plan will have to be adapted to fit what actually plays out. This may lead to a completely unexpected and inconvenient conclusion, but you have to go with it; it's not fun when "it must be this way".
  3. The ability-sets and skill-sets of the characters must be taken into account. You said the bird-song would put anyone to sleep, not taking into account any mental defenses a character may have in place, which both Quetzalcoatl and Embeth have in strength.
  4. Understand the limitations of the "baddie"'s abilities. Since the bird-song must be heard to have an effect (or so it seems), what effect would it have on a deaf person? Quetzalcoatl resisted the song in part because song was in a different room, so the actual sound was quieter.

Also, if a character uses a trick that would render the "baddie" inert or powerless, let it happen. The character should be rewarded for their actions; there's always next time.
  5. Not every character must be present to achieve a certain goal. Do Quetzalcoatl and Embeth have to be present? Would it really hurt the event if they weren't? While it may not fully accomplish the goal of "everyone working the same way", it still gets some of the people working together. This also opens the opportunity to develop this understanding later on.
  6. If you absolutely need a character (or characters) involved in an event, the impetus to make them involved must come from in-game. You posted in the OOC "without Darcy, Embeth and Tesla are doomed", but I must play the character where ever that may lead. Posting this in the OOC would require me (the player) to meta-game to save the characters, which I refuse to do; I would rather let the characters die off properly than save them artificially.

What you could have done is had the Dream Lord manifest sooner or followed us out of the room where the Dream Lord could have manifested. If the Dream Lord found us now, the same sleeping effect might occur, but this would still require providing a method of finding us.

I'm willing to work with you but I have to play the character; don't ask me to do something out-of-character.

I'm not even going to bother to retort, as that would be childish of me. I want to get this debate behind me, because it is going around in circles.
I just thought Urbeth and I had come to terms with my event. I do not wish to take this any further, despite the fact I could go on.
You see, I had these problems role-playing in Gaia, too. People would misunderstand me, despite many attempts to explain myself. They would enrage me, wind me up, push my buttons, and I would have a go at them and ignore for months on end. But I have learnt from that. I will not continue this debate. Done, and dusted.

I sort of find your choice of words offensive. "Willing to work with me?" Makes it sound like you are being forced to do something unpleasant. However, I will give up now. There is a nice German saying that perfectly fits that, but it may be seen as offensive, so I shall not quote it.

EDIT: I almost forgot, because I had already said this, but, the sound follows you. You cannot run from it. It is not like usual sounds. But hey, I was just trying to get people involved.

All I ask is that you let me know before you start an event in the role-play. I know that is asking a lot, but I would really appreciate it.

That way I can tell you what I think Embeth would do without making you guess what she would do. Is that okay? You can tell me in the OOC, or if you want to keep it a secret--just let me know by PM.

I did, though.
Okay, fair enough, the OOC thread moves fast, and it is easy to lose posts in the whole shebang.
It was all perfectly set out in my brain. It just didn't quite work out in practicality. The way it usually is.

I actually didn't see that post until later. Do you have any information about this character from the series or the episode that I could read? It might help me better understand where you want to go with this as well as explain the mechanics of what you are trying to do. I am finding it confusing but I want to try to understand it.

Dr Who is a british TV series about a guy travelling the Universe in a little Blue Box.
It has existed since 1963. :p
The british are batty about it. It is extremely popular, and next week is the season finale! D;
