No. I think it's more of he wants to deemphasize his pretty face and a lot of the cops where their hair slicked back and it helps him look more masculine

one thing, i've decided is ultimately true about derek and motivations all his actions at works. is he's not completely true to who he is at work. I haven't figured out what all that entails but obviously the not being out is one of them. He's out to everyone in his personal life, his family, a few college friends. Stuff like that. Just not at work.
