I really only think of romance as junk lit, especially the harlequin ones. those are all exactly the same. at least some bring in a nice plot to go with it. I tend to think most sci-fi I've read it actually closer to lit fic because of such deep things that often find their way into the stories.
I guess. but I wasn't finding anything deep at all in it. I'd rather study lord of the rings.

sci-fi can be literary for sure. I, Robot is on the list of books I need to read for my comprhensive exams to graduate from my master's program. As is a Clock Work orange.
It's there, not in the earlier books. The earlier books are typical teen fiction for the most part. But the seventh one has a lot in it. I'd have to reread the book to tell you exactly what but it's there.
I consider a good portion of the teen lit I read junk fiction. Like Tamora Pierce, as much as I love her, doesn't really have much merit. Same with Twilight (but that's another story altogether b/c that's written poorly as well).

a lot of the sci-fi short stories I've read in magazines as well as that writers of the future contest, deal a lot with futures where the question is what it means to be human such as with computer enhancements and gene manipulation (not aliens really), and also paradoxes. outside of star trek veins, most of it isn't that junky.
I don't think I read the 7th one. and yeah, teen fics are hard to find something not junk fic in. maybe a few I've read are getting away from it some.
let's not bring in twilight. that's like the definition of junk fiction.

my internet didn't work after dinner, so I just went to sleep after listening to music for a while. I don't know how early I went to bed, but it was probably before midnight. it was really nice.

right now I'm in class. I'm actually basically done with my painting. this is my first full day of working on it in class, but I worked a tiny bit on it over the break and did a wash last class. but yeah. I don't hate it anymore. I guess I'll have to do another one though since the critique is on the 11th.

I think the only teen fiction I've encountered that I would consider truly literary is Unwind. There is so much in that book. So much.
and Divergent is somewhere in between. It tries at least.

So I asked a bunch of my coworkers the title question for poems and novels and every single one of them said novel

I mean to do more homework today. of course it's not that late yet, but I don't feel productive yet...

the people I asked in my classes said everything, but my poetry teacher still advocates that you have to title your poems.

I'm working on homework but I kinda want to just curl up and sleep.

I didn't give my coworkers the options of everything/both. I said if you had to pick between a novel and a poem and only one could have a title, which needs it more.

I want my work to just be done.

Well I limited the articles done to the ones I think I will definitely use. But like I can hardly focus on reading an abstact I don't think I'm going to be able to read an entire article.
