yeah. upper level might be more responsible. freshman can be pretty dumb and irresponsible...or high on responsibility. or just high.

there is seriously no criteria for this. I can go look at my paper again if I can find it. but we're just supposed to invite someone into our studio and talk with them. this is an exercise to help us write an artist statement.

alright. rather than a getting into art, I was always into it and I don't feel like I can ever not be. It's a part of me.

style? Anime 90% of the time. otherwise more abstract. Illustrative. Emphasis? Painting and drawing. illustration. I guess that would be the answer to that question?

ah, the golden question. At this point, I'm thinking not art. I will do writing, but illustrative type things on the side mostly for my own writing, maybe others. Hopefully I can do some commissions too. I don't consider galleries and exhibitions my way to go, but maybe at some other point in the future.

well...I've probably been working on it off and on for...two years? I'm fairly positive I've shown you a wip of it before back when it was a sketch. I didn't start with an idea of a character, but he's become one over the time I've been working on it.

and what's the story behind it? what's it supposed to depict?

It's called Twilight: The Last Stand. I've had that title in my head for at least a year. Twilight is not his name, it's what he is. He has no name. He's the personification of twilight and he's only loyal to Night. This is a battle scene protecting night from....something.

Something? you haven't quite figured out what yet?

I think I had clearer ideas at one point, but I don't remember it anymore. I don't know if it matters that much. I've never written his story and probably never will. I more of added him into an existing idea using Night and Day because Twilight looked like he'd fit in.

okay so if you could draw/paint/art anything without any limitations. what would you create?

I like this question! I'm like seriously grab images straight from my imagination and stick them on paper. or maybe it would be better to put them straight into someone else's mind, but maybe that kills the point of art. I dunno. But my images would be exactly as I imagine them and and essence of the character that seems to be an inherent part of them when I imagine it would come through. I want to be able to express both the physical and essence of the image. I don't know if that's really a good answer...

Well let's explore this question more.

any particular scene, character, image. or just being able to perfectly capture the essence of a project.

I of course have characters and scenes I want to make but its no short list. I wouldn't say I have any on it that I'd forefront. so yeah, just having the ability to do that with all of them.

Is there any aspect of art that you haven't explored that you want to?

comic book art. I mean, I've kinda explored it, but not enough I think. There are other things I see people explore that I really like. sculptures and things, but I think it's not for me. I don't think 3-d.

Why don't you like 3D?

I think I just conceptually can't think in the third dimension. my art always has a front side which is okay for 3-d but I can't think of how to make all sides so appealing usually. plus, I just stink at using power tools, wood...anything except clay.

I love the idea of it. I wouldn't mind doing more stuff with clay, but I'm not so skilled with it, so I'll just stick with what I know. I think it serves me well.
